  1. Hello trainsters! Most TLC trains tend to five studs high (with 1/3 brick smooth plate and the one brick roof) But not all, take a look at this : Does that not look good? Going up to 6 studs makes it possible to retain the smooth roof of the 7938 while adding doors. But then it would look strange with my 7939 But I could add another layer of grey bricks (don't have any of those angled yellow bricks) on my 7939 and get up to 6 studs as well Anyone done that?
  2. No, the window actually rests on the two black double cheeses on the front. I think the ladders are just .. ladders for the engineer to use. Weird indeed
  3. Well, the police and fire department sure gets recycled a lot, like every third year for the last uhmm .. 40 years? Most garbage actually gets recycled in Europe now, so it isn't totally of the mark Both sets looks great. Will buy fer sure
  4. Hmm, I can't find any Classic Space before 1979 in (euro) catalogues on peeron? I was only five at the time so my memory may be a little fuzzy Anyway, it's easy to make any standard brick in a new colour but making a new mold takes time. The #345 hat many new molds, probably predating Classic Space? (Edit : What you say makes sense. I do not. I still think #345 seems very 'old' .. like it's an ancient idea that came to life along, but not with, Classic Space) Has anyone done an exact replica in (whatever)grey?
  5. One is a garbage truck, the other one is .. just a truck. We have both types in my town (home of Lego), specialiced trucks are used for garbage, but ordinary flatbeds (or similar) are used for picking up recycle containers. Very common in Europe. Nothing strange about that. Nice that Lego are teaching our children that waste is a big iussue that should be handled correctly, don't you think? Me too. All look good. Not gonna get the large firetrucks/police helicopter though (too big for my city), but I'm glad I didn't buy the police station. Now I can get this and MOC a nice mountain to boot All pretty good. But where are the construction vehicles .. and the buildings??????????? Just fire and police (and a bit of offroad/camping).. again? Hope Creator can wip up some nice buildings (again)
  6. Classic Space hit Europe in 1979 I think? And the (old light)grey bricks were in limited numbers anyway. The hinges appeared in 1979 with set #894 .. still no large number of grey bricks. I'm quite sure the castle was designed earlier than than. TLC had to make new molds for swords, helmets and what not Good luck with the restoration! It's a classic piece which I tried to make many times .. but then 1984 came Also, it's easy to see this became the blueprint for many future castles .. you can almost see the 2X5X6 with window pieces (#4444) in that castle! I'd do it again in grey but keeping the arches and the slopes (#3684 & #3685) in yellow and the bridge in brown. That would look awesome! (Note to self : Don't go to Bricklink looking for #345 ) Bummer .. I did 1700USD! (Note to self : Must find new hobby)
