  1. Certainly not. I was thinking what TLG would do on their own website LEGO designers, managers of internal focus groups, marketing people, SoMe admins, beancounters etc do not always speak the same language.. This is a clear case of that, imho
  2. Cheaper? Pretty sure TLG is not going to B-wing this set. It'll be on the shelves for a couple of years at the same crazy price
  3. My 8868 uses two pumps, powered by a 71427c01 9V motor (much more powerfull) through two pneumatic tanks (instead of the fake ones). Works very well and can power the pneumatic outriggers also Cheers, Ole
  4. If I was a billionaire, I'd call Porsche HQ and get them to switch gears in my actual GT3 'cause TLG
  5. Pretty sure your (and others) experience just got "enhanced" 1.81 Jiggawatts .. but in the wrong direction I'm willing to bet that TLG's next move is to give out those camouflage stickers for free, so you can get even more authentic
  6. And THAT is important that TLG knows Heck, they wouldn't ven have made a "UCS" Technic set if they didn't feel there was a demand for it. They know this because of forums like this. They even have a former moderator from here now dealing with "the community" TLG, you messed up, don't do it again
  7. I'm sure there'll be a support group on FB soon enough Funny, the BWE is pretty much as ultimate as it gets (for a modern set) Huge set, loads of parts (and here the colour vomit actually works), never seen in Technic before, comes even with a secondary vehicle But NO license and NO coffee table book = good price for the customers = lots of sale for TLG And if that set had a few gears switched around TLG would probably just make a short online instruction, we'd go "gee, that happens, no biggie" = everyone would be pleased and shitstorm is cancelled
  8. To put it blunt, TLG don't have a clue how to handle situations like this. When shit hit the fan regarding the Hoth set they sent out (a first I believe?) statement (aka apology) including pictures of the real thing so it was MUCH easier to compare that failure to the actual movie sets/props/vehicles .. I mean what kinda numb nut intern do they have employed there? Cheers, Ole
  9. Also, I wanted to write a lot of words about this (sorry, Jim didn't have the time) but this should have been a : CREATOR SET Yes, that's right. It's a shelf queen anyway and would have LOOKED a whole lot better with 3k BRICKS thrown at it instead of this studless useless nightmare ... (Or maybe TLG is testing a new market, Studless Creator? If that, I got egg on my face)
  10. Don't really care if TLG reads these fora (but I know they do ) but I'd luv to be a fly on the wall in Porsche HQ if they read all this (and the other reviews) (And by Porsche HQ, I mean the people involved in this TLG deal. Those actually designing Porsche cars probably don't give a flying you know what)
  11. TLG just made a statement regarding the gearbox ... which is bonkers, really "TLG did it right, but you can do it right too by switching gears ('open source' and all), but it's still very authentic, ultimate and Porsche is pleased" ... sigh Why do they care so much about how it runs on the floor? This s a +16 product and a shelf queen, it's not a runner?? (Found it on Brickset btw) ..... "Official statement - 42056 LEGO Technic Porsche Thank you to all our dedicated fans for the comments regarding the GT3 RS by LEGO Technic. It is correct that the gears in this model are not sequential as in the real Porsche PDK. This is however, a deliberate decision taken to ensure that we make the best possible LEGO version of this amazing car that both meets our design requirements and gives everyone a great building and product experience. It was a considered decision taken during development that the gears running in the correct order meant that it did not result in a great experience when driving the car. Too many gears are engaged at the same time and smooth running with all those tolerances is just not possible. If you switch the build in steps 267 and 269 the gears will run sequentially, and everyone who feels that this is the better solution should feel encouraged to do so. LEGO Technic really is the ultimate open source design product and now that it is finally available, we look forward to seeing all the 'improved' models our fans create. After all, that is what LEGO building is all about. We hope everyone will have a great building experience and feel a strong sense of pride from creating both our version and their very own LEGO Technic representation of a Porsche GT3 RS. We are very fortunate to have such skilled and dedicated fans that can spot this small deviation from reality and would like to thank everyone for sharing their ideas and expert knowledge."
  12. Now,, why would you say that? There's been lots of appraisal and boatloads of critque. But I haven't seen any one (that I care to listen to) saying this is the "most exellent Technic set ever" How much do you pay for the sets you review here, if I may be so blunt? (Yes, I'm serious) Also, since you're not a Technic guy myabe try to check out some of the sets from the last +30 years Cheers, Ole
  13. Hilarious if that coffeetable book now comes with three extra pages tucked in to "fix" the gearbox. I'd call that an ultimate fvck-up and render that very expensive tree killer thing even more pointless I told ya guys you'd be dissapointed about this model. It does not offer anything new 'cept that silly rubberband gearbox and should really have been a great looking great non-functional CREATOR set (think F40 etc but much larger) Since one can't see the technic functions working anyway, they do seem a little pointless Just think what TLG could have done with a stick type gearbox, new suspension parts, wheels, many other cool functions/parts and a NORMAL cheap instruction book/box for 250EUR if they didn't have to suck up to Porsche? I really do not think a license like this does Technic any good Oh, and that colour vomit!! Looks like a +6 set. Why do TLG think their buyers are getting more stupid? Way to insult their customers But that's imo
  14. Holy FVCK that's a lot of manual work .. well I guess you all know what you're paying for
  15. Response to charlesw : Never seen it at LEGOland/Billund. I think it's a touring like <insert someone famous that's now only doing shows in Las Vegas> .. it didn't look all that good close up when I saw it btw Now back to that awesome volkswagen! Cheers, Ole
  16. Sorry, I didn't get the JC reference (luv the guy, btw). BL is not really suitable for this discussion, imho. The pic was taken at a local mall in Denmark (I got more, but this is not the thread for it - I could make a new one if anyone cares?)
  17. S40K, don't be daft, you just do not get it, it's all about that darn book. It's ULTIMATE But the rest of the Technic lineup is pretty damn cool, but we can't say that out loud
  18. Excuse me, but it sounds like your talking out ya behind. Where does that "5x" number come from? Do you know anything at all about how TLG works? And why did you bring in BL into this?
  19. It certainly existed in july 2014. Here's my wife and son in front of it Cheers, Ole
  20. Actually they are. The majority of the parts in this set are very common parts that TLG have put in many sets, moulds have been paid back years ago. What is not cheap is that darn book and probably (but we don't know) the Porsche license. And if they have to make special arrangements for the box, that is expensive too It's a 300EUR set and I'll bet two thirds goes to the instruction manual/box and Porsche license. Now, just imagine what TLG could have made if they didn't have to think about that Cheers, Ole
  21. For me the price is not the problem. Yes, I understand a decent coffeetable book cost loads (really loads, my parents work in the publishing industry so I know quite a bit about that), but it really looks like a mess, imho. Rubberbands right in my face? I think TLG should have put in a normal instructionbook and come up with some cool parts for shifting gears. Also, the highly <insert that tiresome argument> colour vomit has no place in a +16 sets. does not have much functions (which is what Technic is ALL about) It also has very little do with how the actual Porsche funtions IMHO this should have been a very cool 300EUR CREATOR set. Completely true to the actual car, with loads of nice details. It's just going on AFOL shelves anyway for display. A really nice brickbuild version would look much cooler that this paneled monster. No one is going to care about suspension, gearbox etc when it's just a shelf queen TLG can do good, They seem to have made very cool Technic models this year (I mean the models yet to be released), but this set is a bummer on so many levels But that's just my opinion Cheers, Ole
  22. I think you should get a Bricklink account (For buying that is, not selling that junk) Cheers, Ole
  23. Certainly not now. The set is completely done and have been for some time. It's been moulded, packed, boxed and shipped out a long time ago. While TLG have one of the most advanced plastic moulding factories in the world (and when it comes to toys it's THE most advanced), their logistcs are not setup for a recall a few days before launch just because there's some whiny people on a forum (yeah, that's me)
