[K4 - Entralla - FF] Life: Parade of Ghosts
Stuartn replied to RocketBoy's topic in Factions Archive
Love those houses, apart from the great storyline, it is interesting to see civilian structures is such a way. The fact you have captured the homely feel and star-wars-iness is incredible and shows skill. -
You have been, you eloquently made your opinions clear with correct reasoning. . But there is no need to be defensive to the moderator's comments. One person was instructed to stop interacting in the argument and it wasn't you, for fairness it is reasonable for the moderator to also mention you, as a party in the argument (regardless of how it started). He didn't mean you were being impolite, just having less interaction with those (such as MAB) who engaged in a politer rebuttal of your argument, and I think was only referring to these last few comments. I am only saying this as I can vouch for the moderator's fairness and impartiality as I have been on the receiving end of his assistance (in a technical (not moderating) aspect) on a past occasion. But back on topic, I am not sure whether a bionicle and system set would be released together. The purpose of this poll would have been market research so strong bionicle results could be an indicator that bionicle will make a reappearance. It would have been interesting to have seen what would have happened had G2 bionicle been added. I think Lego need to recognise that buyers, even children, can tackle a complex storyline, if it is marketed correctly, like they did in G1. From what I have learnt in this forum it is that the story is central to bionicle, so to have left out such a pivotal part is probably why G2 failed. The complex story entices buyers to get more sets and sets up the next different wave for more success.

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Exactly. It normally looks great on weathered builds like the AT hauler, but this ship is meant to be the carrier of the Emperor and other officials and should be very neat. Same goes for the insides, normally technic structures predominate so it is both easier to build with colour and pieces are also colour locked. With the TIE it could have used hinges instead of the ball joints, which (though I don't have the set) would logically provide less structure. SW especially has odd colour choices, like the aforementioned AT hauler as an example being predominantly white with grey accents. Grey with tan/brown accents would have been way more accurate. -

I don't understand what possesses Lego to use so many MSG/LBG pieces, such as those grill pieces when the pieces exist in, and should be, white. My guess is for the pattern behind the bar piece, but why not use a grey sticker and the plate behind it should be white too. I know they do this for easy building, but its a 9+ set. It shouldn't have been to difficult to accommodate two figures side by side in that cockpit, which is another design flaw, but I suppose a simple MOD. It's happened a lot this wave, such as the odd DBG/DSG ball joint piece of the TIE fighter which should have been light grey, but I think this shuttle is the most detrimental. -
Its between castle and space in my guess. Although the way the entirety of castle was lumped in despite not winning is unfair, I don't think it should matter because all of the space votes will stream into the Classic Space sub-theme. It will probably be quite close, and I anticipate the space vote will grow due to a lot of sci-fi theme voters whose non-space theme didn't get through will vote space, though the same could happen with castle. I don't think it will matter though. My opinion is that at the end of this there will either be a new Galaxy Explorer or Yellow Castle, following on from the POBB set.

I'm starting to get disappointed now. The only issue I've ever had was getting an extra sticker sheet. The piece of metal was a thin piece of wire about the height of a plate. Such wires could be contaminated and could theoretically cause infection, as unlike a needle it wouldn't have been through the proper sterilisation process, though very unlikely. That said it would've been superheated to about 200-250 degrees Celsius in the ABS and placed straight into a sealed bag so that should do the job.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion

Suddenly this years 2hy sets went from sounding disappointing to very enticing. I'm looking forward to them. The new bikes explain the high cost associated with the small sets. Thank you for sharing. -

No I think you're right. I would say that the gunship is probably only as popular as it is because of TCW, so the odds are the primary demographic would be even younger. There would be a lot of older fans that would like TCW too, but then they would probably be more inclined to the other sets in this wave. I don't think an MBS set would happen anyway as most of the structures in the PT are much larger locations that would be hard to scale down like the OT sets. Some of the smaller locations I can think of, like the Lars homestead would be much more famous for their OT appearances too. The only MBS set that could work well would be Naboo which is unlikely anyway. As both 18+ sets, I think UCS set sales will impact MBS sets too. -
You are right here, it is an Ideas set so you don't have to class it as a castle set, but I imagine many others will. It is the first ever 16+ castle/medieval themed set though, so in the same way 16/18+ modular buildings are bigger than city buildings that could be the difference. Time will tell when/if another 18+ castle set comes whether this set is standard or an outlier. As someone who is really hoping castle loses so space can win in this vote, I wasn't agreeing with your comment to start of with, but upon reflection a castle fan not wanting a blacksmith is in a way no different to a space fan wanting sci-fi space instead of space. They go together but not quite.

Something that was already extremely rare since they never appeared together in anything, nor did the clones it come with ever feature in it. I am really unsure why Mace Windu is the 'rumoured' figure in the dropship. He appears in it briefly in AOTC and ROTS but Yoda or some other character would have made way more sense. I have never understood why P2 Cody has been associated with this set since the character was never even in it (at least in ROTS), it just appeared behind him but so did nearly every other named clone. That said, I think the figures would be way better than what the nebulon B would have been, I couldn't see it including any other generic figure than the medical droid, since despite all its appearances no other unnamed characters are even seen in it.. -
Was the wire contaminated? Is your tetanus shot up to date? Give the wound a good clean. To answer your question, call Lego customer service https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/ it will go to the US site so change it for the appropriate place You should be entitled to a refund at the least. If your Lego decides to stab you and you were injured I think that classifies as faulty.

That looks incredible. The use of the 1x1 plates with the exposed undersides works perfectly. The cheese slopes for the tile pattern work well and the snot pieces add so much detail, The composition is perfect and the subtle amounts of negative space enhance the build. That wooden door is fabulous, and I like how you've mastered the placement of those (very nice) trees (with genius trunks) and plants so they don't obscure any detail. The top of the building is finished well with those round bricks, tooth pieces and exposed studs, which is always a hard part of a MOC in that style. I especially appreciate all the subtle details: that no part of the building is an afterthought, like the way you've even used the reverse of the brick pattern bricks on the walls of the top floor for detail and put such effort into the doors, even when they're harder to see. It feels very authentic with the arches, round pillars and the colour scheme, which works so well. The use of lighter colours at the bottom is a good choice and using those white arches at teh top not only looks great but lightens up the darker area.

I think technic is a theme that should be geared towards AFOLS more. Aside from the now defunct creator expert it has more 16/18+ sets than any other theme and I think the majority of its buyers would be older children and primarily TFOLS and AFOls, so it should be more advanced. As for building what you want, it is very hard now as the new powered up systems aren't easy to use like power functions. Since you cannot program on Control+ is is very difficult to make your own MOCs with only lego parts, and many people, maybe/probably a majority, aren't all that skilled with programming. The powered up app is extremely confusing and I have no idea how to work it, which to many buyers and MOCers could be a turn-off. In fact it is the powered up components that turn me off technic. The majoirty of technic buyers are probably drawn to it by the motorised functions, which are hard to achieve outside of a set.

It is similar to the shark that come in the 2009 pirates and agents sets, just much more detailed and bigger. -
[MOC] SB00501 TR-Project (MOC Treadspeeder 125-z UCS)
Stuartn replied to StarBricks's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I thought that was an incredible MOC, and those figures were awesome and the tread design was perfectly done, then I saw it had a fully detailed engine and it got even better. The helmet designs are incredible and so accurate to the source material, which is amazing at that scale. The weathering is brilliant and I like that you've even added the small control panel.- 31 replies

Exactly. I voted classic space because I wanted classic space, as in the earliest wave of space sets. I don't have an interest in any of the space sets that come after it. I think due to the way castle has been added to the poll though it is safe to regard classic space as just space now. Same for pirates as pirates and imperials and castle probably refers to classic castle. Bionicle would, if successful, be a throwback to the earliest bionicle sets.

On the contrary I think the amount of minfigures is fine, on paper it may seem that there are a lot for the footprint of teh MOC, but since there is so much height, they don't obstruct any details and add so much to the build and storyline. It is great you can sort of get the storyline without reading the write-up. I especially like the polluted water and the great greebling and detail overall. My favourite bit is teh use of the spring loaded shooter pieces for the floor patterns. So much greebling and nice parts usage, and contrasted with the appropriate amount of negative space to (which you've also mastered through the use of many different tiles to add interest). -
Space or classic space usually refers to sci-fi space, that would include those examples and many others. Classic space however is usually the earliest sci-fi space sets, from 1978 to the mid-80s, followed by blacktron and others. Most people who want space would happily have anything sci-fi space related. Bionicle G2 fans were largely children, who would have been the primary market for such sets. They wouldn't remember the original bionicle because they probably weren't alive so the change in storyline wouldn't matter, from what I saw they were quite popular with KFOLs. I think bionicle should actually get some 18+ attention (not in this poll, I want space!!!) focusing on the G1 sets. It can afford to be niche because if it is done correctly there is a large enough fanbase for it, if too much time passes Lego could miss out on what would be a good opportunity. There is obviously demand for the products as this poll has shown. Anyway, we should all remember that it will be the 100th anniversary soon, and I anticipate that TLG will probably release a larger line of sets then.

That looks great, the overall detail is outstanding and I love the windmill. Is the drawbridge functional?

A medieval blacksmith being a castle set is not much of a stretch, but to say a common household object is certainly is, especially if you say a robot set with similar articulation to a bionicle figure is not a bionicle set. The mech example isn't a bionicle set though because it doesn't advertise it self as such, as you have said, but there is also no indication whatsoever that a globe would be advertised as a space set. Although the globe can be used for astronomical purposes it certainly isn't viewed regularly as such, but if it was scientifically accurate depictions of space that 'space' in this poll referred to, then the lunar lander, saturn v and city space sets would already be viewed as space sets. Space in this survey refers to sci-fi space, not anything astronomical or scientific, the image used in the survey was the galaxy explorer, which is very different to the globe. A labelled display stand on a spaceship is far different to a stand that is an integral part of the model with a real purpose. Also, please don't think I am being harsh or trying to negate your view. I know you have said its how you think the globe set could be advertised, which is completely reasonable and understandable, considering some of the previous posting in this specific forum I don't want you to think I am personally attacking your valid opinion which you are entitled to. I am saying this only because I have just written several paragraphs with the purpose of disagreeing with you, which could come across as disrespectful.
