  1. Oh, and link to the video. It wasn't obvious where to find it - https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/93c95063-4c17-44a2-91ce-80a60cc3950c
  2. Another non-minifig scale Ideas set, unless they change it. It's a great lighthouse, but I wonder if they'll cut down the base and the tower, or make it much bigger to make it minifigure scale.
  3. While I really like many of the ideas, I see only six as being even remotely possible, and from that they will probably choose one or two. Especially given their works in progress. I would be pleased to be wrong though. Looking forward to the announcement tomorrow.
  4. I'm definitely going to be heavily inspired by this when it comes out in the US. Feels like it would fit much better with the Ideas Blacksmith.
  5. The Ice Castle 43197 has been revealed on the LEGO website. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/the-ice-castle-43197
  6. They're very impressive. All on the Shop@Home site. Shame the T.rex fossil isn't JP, but it's good and would combine well with the Velociraptor chase. All of them. All on Shop@Home.
  7. I tried the Vidiyo app with my daughter today. I have to say, it made me feel young again. It has 2005 levels of clunky, slow loading, and bugginess. I appreciate that LEGO is supposed to be timeless, but I was underwhelmed by the experience. I'm using a Pixel 4a. Not a flagship phone, but decent, and less than a year old. One of the best cameras you can find on a smartphone, and yet it consistently failed to recognize either the character or a beatbit. We changed positions, lighting, figures. Still unreliable. Such a shame.
  8. No! No! Please don't even consider a vehicle in it. You know it will happen. I'm still holding out for the theory earlier (I think it was Guyon) that it would be a JP based set with the main hall, T. rex fossil, raptor, and maybe the stairs. That would be so nice and keep the JP film alive in LEGO. Although I don't know if they'll be able to do it in $30, which is a shame.
  9. That's a very low price compared with the others. I wonder if it will be the swinging chair ride shown in the background of the roller coaster? It's tall, but not substantial in terms of bricks required, so possibly keeps the same scale as the other rides, but at the lower price point?
  10. Such a shame about your username, because this is one the most sane things said on the topic!
  11. On this day, in this thread, with all of the 'controversy' and you go and drop a bombshell like that?! Go watch it. Go watch it now! (It is, unsurprisingly, awesome). :) Now that is the true LEGO name. Just missing PACK at the end. https://brickset.com/article/59474/review-40516-everyone-is-awesome I enjoyed reading Brickset's review of this and seeing how many parts they've recoloured to do it. Quite a lot of investment, but well worth it.
  12. And the designer video with Matthew Ashton is on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC6H15Z8d6w
  13. They've not said no to a BLM set. And the direct answer to the question could be any number of reasons, including time, resources, release schedules, market opportunity, too much corporate risk, they don't know what they'd do, the rights are owned by another toy company - OK that last one is probably the answer to why only 1 set from the bumper collection of Ideas is chosen... ;) I thought we were coming together as LEGO fans? I think this set it great. If you do too, that's awesome. If you don't and prefer something else, that's awesome. Do you enjoy LEGO? Great! So do I! It's nice for some people to build sets/MOCs that are cool and fantastical. It's nice for some people to build sets/MOCs that are very personal. And it's nice for some people to do both. Or neither. Or anything else. And then back to the set itself, I think it's cool, and looks very elegant.
  14. Also, this didn't get enough love. It's superb!
  15. In addition to all the things that Aanchir said, LEGO very publicly supported Black Lives Matter. I see this as LEGO embracing diversity and representation. I celebrate that. And, FWIW, it's an awesome set that looks amazing!
  16. I've seen quite a few people put the bonsai tree in place of the ox and it works really nicely - either leaf or floral.
  17. One person's repetitive is another person's meditative. It's not for me either, but fair play if you like it When I first heard about this, I thought they would do a 2.5D style map, like the Middle Earth map on Ideas. It feels like a missed opportunity to do that, as it would be different again from the other art sets. I know scale would be difficult, but something exaggerated would have been fine. Small boats in the oceans, planes in the sky, maybe some key landmarks around the world.
  18. Where are you? LEGO store in Boston had no such discount, sadly.
  19. Pursuit of flight is so elegant and achieves a lot with a relatively small number of pieces. Hopefully that's reflected in a lower. more accessible cost. I wonder if I'm going to have to wait until midnight to order the castle?
  20. I wonder if some rounds won't get five models to the 3000 pre-order threshold. Clearly the Castle in the Forest and Fishing Boat are going to be popular in this round. But are the others too niche? Will Bionicle fans go for something that is a System representation of it? Will anyone join me in ordering the magnificent Kakapo? JK Brickworks ones are really clever, but people want to pay the premium Bricklink prices for them? Will be very interesting to find out. Even from this batch of eight, I'm very interesting in four of them.
  21. All the stores around Boston do have them, but in pre-built form. So they make them all up, and you can choose the three figures that you want. In some cases they have fixed accessories, but with some you can choose. However, recently they seem to have relaxed it a bit, and I was able to choose 15 pieces (although it was just accessories, so I don't know if they'd break down the figures to just get torsos). But I suspect it's a mix of LEGO policy and local restrictions. In Boston they're going to open the Pick a Brick wall for self-serve, but it's one person at a time an sanitizing between uses. Didn't see it, but that was the plan to start this last Monday.
  22. That would be a bit of shame and rather odd. It suggests things like the landmarks series or cars. I suppose much of the Creator Expert line is already those things, but modular buildings aren't icons. Neither are the winter village sets. Or the botanicals. Or the fairground collection. But the naming convention for internal grouping is not nearly as important as amazing sets, so hopefully they continue with a decent range of great stuff.
  23. That was my hope too. I don't generally like big armies, so four is probably enough for me, but six would be better, and I'm hoping they'll come in a set relatively soon. If not, they should look good alongside my old Forestmen if the Castle in the Forest gets through the BrickLink program.
