  1. Maybe LEGO, like many of us, ran out of shelf space for them, and didn't want to rearrange things or move.
  2. But Diagon Alley wasn't sent out to thousands of people in a brochure two weeks before! I'm looking at my version now. Just seems bizarre really. Unless they don't make a big thing of the release like they did with Diagon Alley. I wonder if they'll do anything else with Ninjago, like what is happening on Jan 13.
  3. Leak of the Medieval Blacksmith box with the full set and figs. Should be released soon then, hopefully. I know it's different from the original submission, but I personally like it.
  4. Looks like the US winter 2021 catalogue is being sent out now, with Ninjago City Gardens in it. US price confirmed as $299.99, not the $349.99 that some people were suggesting. https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-71741-ninjago-city-gardens-us-price-revealed/
  5. MBoM, Vintage Car, and Bicycles Xtras polybag has shipped! Diagon Alley is still waiting for new stock, but happy to wait. Pleased to get the MBoM though.
  6. Yes. There have been reports on Reddit that the car sold out over the weekend, but it was still showing on the banner as the web team need to update it manually and they don't work at the weekend. However if you're near a LEGO store, they appear to have stock remaining.
  7. I'm also new to the more serious part of LEGO this year and I've noticed that there are two options for collecting older sets, especially modulars. 1. Go through Bricklink, eBay, Amazon and pay often crazy prices for sets - used (lots) or new (mortgage required). It's a market with lots of collectors there, and buyers know it, so prices are higher. The advantage is that you can find what you want immediately, get the sets very quickly, you know they're complete, and it's all very easy. 2. Use local things like Craiglist, Facebook Marketplace, Offerup etc (or whatever equivalents there are in your area). Here you'll find (in amongst the overpriced sets and scams) people that are just selling their LEGO that they collected with mild interest, but now are done with it. You can't guarantee that it's all there, or even clean. Finding it can be a problem, as people tend not to list the set numbers or even the set names, so you need to view pictures carefully. And you have to wait for stuff to come up. But if you're in a densely populated area, then lots of things will likely come up, and because it's not a market full of collectors, things can often be much cheaper. I've bought Parisian Restaurant, Palace Cinema, Pet Shop, Detective's Office, and Brick Bank (plus four winter village sets) over the last six months and none of them have been over RRP. In fact, most were probably half of RRP. But it's taken a while, they need cleaning, and there are often a few missing pieces. So depends on which route you want to take. But if it's #1, then definitely get it sooner rather than later.
  8. I love the car wash. It looks beautiful and goes so well with the Diner. But having spent the last six months re-mocing it, it feels a bit too small to be a modular, especially the top two floors. My daughter loves playing with it though, so maybe it's OK for small children. Plus, it's a modular, and it would be a big break to suddenly choose one. Especially with an anniversary set due next year, when these would likely come out. The Brick Town Police Station has so many incredible similarities with the official police station. The obvious donut shop, but also the rough shape, colouring, use of animal heads at the top, the vine running the height of the building. Not suggesting there was any copying, just nice to see those features, as I really liked them in the Ideas submission. The Addams Family looks like a perfect LEGO set. It should be great to build, excellent to display, but also works really well as a play set. It would be a shame if IP got in the way of them doing it. Although it's large, so another expensive one that they may want to avoid. Castle, Viking Village, and Bag End all also look great. But I agree that there's a decent chance that none of these will be accepted. What that means is that when they reveal the results, if any of them are, I will be pleasantly surprised, rather than slightly disappointed as has happened before.
  9. Yes, probably. The foliage on the Ideas one was likely too complex and fiddly for general release. And it's a personal preference that I love the dark blue base that the Ideas one was in.
  10. Which is a shame. The Ideas Bonsai was so impressive, and felt much more ornate than the official one just released. Although the simplicity of the LEGO version does allow easy swapping of branch styles, which is very cool.
  11. Just to follow up on this. I went back to the same store today, and all last chance to buy labels had been removed, including Assembly Square.
  12. Excellent idea, thanks! I have done a new order with a polybag to get the GWP for sure. Good to know, thanks!
  13. My local store only had 22 in, which were all sold out at 17:30. But, there are three more LEGO stores within 20-40 minutes, so maybe they look at catchment areas, rather than stores.
  14. Sold out in Europe, but still available in the US. And, for the first time in over a month, something from my wish list was available to order on LEGO.com. AND, it was Diagon Alley! It's backordered, but I was waiting for MBoM as a GWP before ordering it. So now I get both the MBoM and Ideas car as GWP. Excellent! It's odd, as it wasn't available a few hours ago. I hope it's not one of their system glitches and it gets cancelled.
  15. If the GWP is in your cart when you check out, then yes. They usually do give you the GWP on Backorder items.
  16. I gave up after a few minutes and went to bed - children are too small to stay up too late, and certainly won't sleep late in the morning - but it worked fine just now. So had everything in my cart from last night's attempts to check out. Police station, bricks and pieces, and car GWP. Hurrah! Looking on Reddit/Lego and here, I'm glad I didn't wait up for a couple of hours!
  17. Sigh. Lego.com isn't working to take orders. Getting an unexpected error message when trying to add the police station to the cart.
  18. Just seems an odd thing to change for $0.50 difference in a $170-$200 set. Especially when they're often so consistent. On the other hand, it gives you an extra 5-10 pieces to play with for more detail.
  19. I've just finished building the Downtown Diner 10260, and it's great fun. I noticed that the 1x2 tile grilles used are flat silver, not metallic silver, as used in other, older modulars, like Parisian Restaurant 10243. Looks like from Downtown Diner onwards they use flat silver. Is there a reason for the change? Is it just a cost saving?
  20. The Brickset photos cut off the second page of the double page spread that the set build covers, but Ashnflash's video has a different photo (of the same thing) that shows more of the second page, and you can see more of the pagoda and bridge on it, which looks like it's on the 16x32 baseplate. No idea whether it's detachable, but you're right, it might work really nicely with the spring lantern festival set.
  21. The new decent pictures that we've all been discussing are from the Lego catalogue that gets mailed out to people. The photo is of the Canadian one, hence the pricing. Just struck me that they'd have to do the reveal very soon as they're mailing brochures with details out. The January store calendar is also out now, and it says special Ninjago days on both January 13 and 14. No mention of what that entails or any GWP though.
  22. If the Gardens are in a January catalogue, should we expect the official reveal at 9:00ET today?
  23. I only have NC and definitely think that the two will look great together. Is certainly how I intend to put them together. The significantly lower height of the docks feels like it might break up the height of the other two too much. But that might just be me justifying not spending $500 on the docks!
