The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Pate-keetongu replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ah, I see some undercover blacktron guys coming! And I love that very odd chicken scope thing on the flying barn. The fire mech isn't that interesting though, so I'll just pass this set.- 2,626 replies

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Pate-keetongu replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Creative ambush is a target exclusive? That's bad. Finland doesn't have Targets, but the store-exclusives use to pop into some stores; guess I just have to keep my eyes open. That set has a absolutely nice figs, brown bowler man with a moustache is great and the lady in blue dress is excellent too. Kebab is the food of the gods and I'm so glad of the flying kebab (or kabob) stand, now if Bob only had a stain of ketcup in his smiley badge... That would be perfect. The female citizen in Ice Cream Machine has some neat parts, gotta Bricklink her some day, as well as Ma and Pa Cop's heads and hairpieces; probably Vitruvius too if he doesn't appear in a cheaper set.- 2,626 replies

Great work with HF parts! The body and the limbs are impressively beefed up. However, the shape is a bit odd on some parts. I understand it if it is not supposet to be human-like (if it's a robot after all), but chest piece seems to go too far from the spine line. It's hard to describe better than that, but it looks a bit awkward. Probably moving the leg connection points a bit forward could solve the problem and create a look of a very muscular being rather than a gal with a very thick chest plate. Despite the critism this is a well-built creation. Keep it up!

Thanks! Yep, the design is from Other M, as I noted from my blog, while the common inspiration is from Brawl.

Thanks for kind works, everybody. Yes, the face is not perfect, but if anyone has any suggestions how to make it better, I would be glad. Did already, see here. Well, one part that couldn't be achieved so well didn't stop me from posting and building this MOC.

Revamped version from 2015 above, old version from 2013 below - More photos on the new one at the end of the post and, on larger amounts, at Cyclopic Bricks. Ladies and henkselmen, here is my newest creation on the fine fields of Bionicle/HF building, Samus Aran in her Zero Suit from Metroid games, inspired by the hours of playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Some parts of this MOC were hard, some easy. The limbs and the lower torso came out without serious pain, but the upper torso and the face were very very tricky... The face is still a bit flat, but it's bloody hard to achieve any femine facial features with our favourite bricks. The stunner pistol can also work as a plasma whip as seen in Brawl. More on Cyclopic Bricks and Brickshelf folder. Feedback would be awesome.

Ah, that staff is great. Love the random-ish shape of it, very sorcerish. (Yes, I like making new words with -ish.) The figure is mainly good, like the fingers. The middle torso and shoulder joint area could be a bit beefier.

I think this is best of the wave. Not perfect, but quite cool nonethess. The hero hand sure looks odd, but I happy to get it as I have only 3 and it is very irritating to have odd number of those (black is the most universally useful color anyway). It's always nice that a constraction set has some nice SYSTEM bits (the tr. orange chain is wonderful, the black lightsaber handles pretty useful, the minifig armor is cool, the girdes piece will come handy...) and HF pieces are not bad neither: The Azure bones are sweet and the new feet look rather interesting. I just wish it could have two of those cool printed shells; Pretty much same problem than on Raw-Jaw which is design-wise one of the best HF sets so far. Oh well, gotta use in on a torso then, or on some gadget as a coordinate system.

MOD Monster Fighters Hearse
Pate-keetongu replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Quite cool! I see this set modded a lot. I rather like the front and the lowered wheels. My bit more dieselpunkish mod (Or MOC actually, because I don't even have the set) can be seen here.- 9 replies

Yes! I was hoping that the armor fits an ordinary minifig as it is very well shaped piece. Will look good on some Sci-fi factions. Always nice to have a few minifig parts alongside constraction stuff - This wave is so much better than the Brain Attack, probably even better than Breakout.

The Harkel-Walker, or the Egg-shaped Steam-powered Moustache Walker, is engineer Jonathan Achemus's personal form of transport. It strides around to country with long waddling steps from adventure to another. It might be hard to believe, but this was originally going to be a Vic Viper for Novvember, but I came out as a walker for Movember. As a extrabonus, farmer club's bandit bingo offers a free steampunk figbarf. Enjoy! More pictures on Brickshelf and more detailed backstory on Cyclopic Bricks. C&C welcome.

Neat prizes. Inspired me to throw together this Heavy Rock Santa (don't know how but it's cool anyway). He brings you a LP of the hardest heavy band Cold-Smoked Reindeer Meat (makes me hungry already). And there is a chain is his back so he can be hanged hung from the tree.

You can always use LUGBULK to buy rarer pieces on bigger quantities, at least as long as your LUG is not too big or anti-HF-oriented. It think I will pass both of there, though the appearance of trans-color bones is cool. It's also nice that EVO walker has double ball cup piece, there are only a few of them on BL right now.

Great job, the cockpit is just sweet. The windshield are very well blended together.

The town of Brassport, 1868. A highly industrial city with all sorts of things going on from train heists to basement communist revolutions. Outlaws Pantolomeus T. Ongu and Edwin Pillingshot McBlaine hijack some important goods from train with their stolen Tri-Copter. Prime Minister Churston Windmill with his wife and assistants at the front of his house. People's house, with craft shop inside. Little Tomer earns his first pennies by cleaning General-Governor's boots. The MOC measures around 64x48 studs and is the biggest MOC I've ever built. I wanted to create an environment for steampunk minifigures to take some photographs and, well, tell stories. The more detailed backstories can be found on my blog Cyclopic Bricks, as it would feel a bit silly to copy/paste them there. More photos can be seen on the Flickr set and Brickshelf folder so this page loads in decent time. I wish you enjoyed your visit to steampunked Victorian era! C&C are welcome, but you probably already guessed that.

Disney Princess 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Pate-keetongu replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Cinderella's carriage's wheels look like optimal steampunk pieces. The set overall isn't that bad, but I won't buy it for parts with the licenced pricing anyway. I hope the wheel won't be that pricey on Bricklink. -
Ah, love the art on the top of the bags. Very very cool that is. I think I am buying FLYER beast (stupid caps lock name) as it seems to have some neat colors. And that dude uses a iron girder as a weapon - Ouch. Splitter Beast's street light is quite cool bit too.

Dragon Bolt being female actually makes some sense as female reptiles are usually bigger and meanier than males. And yes, that's nice variety.

Great combination of mechanical and organic looking bits!

Just lovely. The viking ship hulls work so perfectly there, and the brick built swan head is well crafted. Supported.

Now that's spectacular landscaping! I think I should use that angled plate technique in something. Did you use brick hinges or old plate hinges to do the angle?

Love it! The colours and the photographing are just perfect. The minifig is neat too. The name could suggest some mechanical tentacles... Probably something similar to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's Nautilus?
