  1. You have expressed your opinion...multiple times. Leave it at this, okay!
  2. 3rd party rubber bands is okay too. You can share your creation before the contest ends. Please mention it's for this contest 1. Yup. Or via an SBrick output (if you are using two SBricks). 2. Sure! Needs to be a MOC! Not sure what you mean with the gearbox?!
  3. Okay, I have been thinking and this sounds about right: You need to utilize 4 output ports of the IR Receivers (not counting LEDs) This means you need to use 4 motors Exception 1: you can multiplex multiple motors on a single output (for driving for example, when you need more torque) Exception 2: a constantly running compressor Pneumatics are allowed, but only when controlled via motors (no manual switching levers, it is an SBrick contest, not a pneumatic contest) LEDs are allowed, but don't count as a function Other manual functions like opening doors are allowed Gearboxes are allowed, as long as the previous rules are met 3rd party strings and/or hoses are permitted If you already own an SBrick you can use it (as long as you can demonstrate the functions) I will update the rules in the first topic. Let me know if there are any grounded objections or questions.
  4. WeDo is okay! Go ahead. Anything related to Lego and Robotics can be posted here
  5. If you've already shown part of it, it's not allowed. Otherwise other people will do the same and I need to judge each WIP whether it was actually a WIP. Can you post a link to the topic you mentioned?
  6. I will go through all questions and update the rules tomorrow. 3rd party strings and rubber hoses are okay!
  7. A WIP topic it is! I guess it will be fun building, sharing, building, sharing
  8. That pretty much sums it up And this I am away for most of the weekend, so I will probably answer your questions (and define the final rules) on Sunday. In the meantime Erik will answer your questions
  9. How about "Use exactly 4 motors (and do with them what you want)"? This is more or less what you mean.
  10. Maybe this is indeed the best description, which boils down to using 4 motors! Yup! That's cool
  11. It all depends on what the definition of a function is. Driving is a function, but this can be accomplished by using two motors. That's the caveat. You can have manual functions. I already answered that question.
  12. This is something we need to finalize. I'd like to think of Driving as a single function, independent of using 1 or 2 motors. (this conflicts with my current rules I guess) Skid steering/driving is a tough one as well. Although using two motors in skid steering will take care of driving AND steering, ending up in using two motors for two functions.
  13. Be aware that the MOC should be new. No existing ones. LEDs have been described in the rules. LEDs are okay, but they don't count as a function.
  14. I'm cool with some additional manual functions. As long as it meets the motorizes requirements. Great! Be aware that the mold has changed. The current one is depicted in my promotional image.
  15. I will probably start building tonight. My end goal will be to control it via SBrick and do a "Ferrari 458 Spider SBrick Review" Question; shall I create a WIP topic and review along the way? Or publish it when I have a full review?
  16. Is anyone able to create (and share) a brick built SBrick in LDD?
  17. This definitely makes sense! I am looking for 4 different functions. One of which could be driving, which can be using 2 motors. In that case you will have more than 4 motors. Let's see what other people think of this, but I think we are on the same page.
  18. Maybe something LPE with a basketball needle and.... Just kidding. I'm sure you will figure something out. And remember.....animals and technic contests.....
  19. For the sake of clarity and this being a LEGO contest, let's stick to LEGO parts. Next think, people want to add this and that. I can't oversee where this will end.
  20. Not 100% sure what you mean, but besides the SBrick, your MOC needs to be built of LEGO parts. What other parts are you thinking of using? 1. Yes 2. Yes This part is essential "but all powered by 4 pf motors?" 2 motors that power 1 function? Like 2 motors for driving (each motor connected to a wheel)? Like the Ferrari 458. Hmmm good question. Well, looking at me own rules this is okay. You need to use 4 motors....what you do with them is your decision (although I prefer 4 different functions of course) Edit: This way you can also use 4 motors just for driving.....hmmm I guess I need a minute to think about it....
  21. Agreed! I'm very pleased for having the opportunity of hosting this contest. Really looking forward to the entries. By the way; I haven't fully worked out every possible rule and question, so please ask every question and we will work out every detail the first week. Maybe I need to change some things here and there. I have a digital file to represent the SBrick. I will try to get an LDD version as well, so you can make a brick version of it. If you haven't published the MOC, it's okay! There's no part count limit.
  22. Technic SBrick Contest SBricks are shipping over the world as we speak. Say what?! You didn't join the Kickstarter project?! No worries! Here's your chance to win one or more SBricks For the few of you who don't know what an SBrick is, visit https://www.sbrick.com for more information. DESCRIPTION Build a Technic model with 4 Power Functions motors. The model should be prepared to replace the IR receivers with a single SBrick (or two if you like to maintain aesthetics). The models needs to have 4 powered motors, providing 4 functions. When using a gearbox, your model can have more than 4 functions (6 for example, like the 8043 Excavator). The model needs 2 PF IR Receivers which can be replaced by one or two SBricks. Using PF Lights is permitted. However, they don't count as functions. Functions are operated by a motor. DEADLINE Due to Holidays and possible issues with getting new parts from TLG this time of year I have given you two more weeks than usual. Deadline date is February 15th, 2015. Contest will be closed on Monday the 16th, so you will have the entire Sunday to build. 25. Hi, I have 99% of the parts gathered from my own inventory, which took quite some time. I only need to get me some "regular" LEGO parts, like plates. I don't need to order any parts, so I am good to go. Next week I have a couple of days off so that might be a good time to start
