  1. I was going to say they don't look to be in the best condition. I wonder where they got these for the article and didn't use good quality LEGO pieces. Who is the licensed female in the last column? I can't tell if her lips are purple.
  2. That picture is neat. I'm not blown away by any of them, but I will be in for a few of each for the collection. I think the Yeti is the best for what it is. But I like the addition of a welder and female robot. It is weird since the dials are right where her chest is...scandalous much?? Think of the children!
  3. Thanks for the review. Very informative. I was planning on getting this set anyway, so this didn't sway me. But it will be one of the first sets I order this summer. I think they did a great job representing the gate in LEGO form and added enough playability for the people interested in that. The figures alone sell the set. Aragorn is superb. He may have taken the top spot out of LOTR LEGO figures. Gandalf looks great and the Mouth . I'm glad they are including things from the extended version. Having only seen them and not the regular non-extended versions, I can appreciate these extra bits.
  4. Thanks for the review. I was already planning on this set, but maybe I'll wait for a sale. Those figures are a great plus. The ship looks decent, but I'd love to MOD it. But in reality, I probably won't because I don't plan on displaying this with my other pirate ships. I like seeing the extras. It is unfortunate to have that many stickered things. That is the trend isn't it? I'd love some new printed map pieces!
  5. Nice MOD! I love those orange and olive leaves. They work so well together. Rivendell is beautiful in LEGO form. Way to go TLG. Are you making extra random elves with Arwen's hairpiece or are you selling them off to help spend more on other sets? I hadn't considered buying extras this wave, but this would be the set to do it with.
  6. Great MOD! I like the doll house opening like the Haunted House. My daughter would love that. I think for what the building is, the back is fitting, but I would expect it to be a little more ornate. But being the back of the building, not a lot of attention was probably given from the original architect other than to keep it secure from the residents. I do want to pick this set up, but I don't know when I will. And maybe I will have to MOD it too.
  7. Congrats! Sounds like a fun way to spend your time.
  8. I like the front entryway the most. The SNOT-work works well there. The brown and gold accents work well together too. I'd expect a much more lavish hut for the future king of Asgard. Keep up the good work!
  9. Sorry to resurrect this thread, but this is my first time venturing into the Action Figure subforum. I'm thinking War of the Worlds cover art from 2005. Wonderfully done. I love the joints and how it is assembled. I have never even considered this. Well done.
  10. This is perfect. I hadn't even considered this before, but now you have my interest. I may have to do something similar for my daughter. She loves the Modulars, but it's difficult to take off the roof each time. She really loves the Haunted House that opens up with open backs. I may have to try my hand at this now that I am inspired. I'm always impressed and pleased with your work and this is no exception. I like adding stairs and tiles to my modulars also, but sometimes that takes away the "play value" and adds to the aesthetic. I'm similar in I want some space to sort/build while she does her own thing, but at the end of the day she sits near me and builds while I watch. It's still time well spent, even if I don't get anything done on my own. Keep up the great work. TLG really knocked it out of the park with the Friends sets I think.
  11. I think the problem people have with the Kimono girl is the negative misconceptions that all Geishas are prostitutes. That couldn't be farther from the truth. So they aptly named her Kimono girl while still providing this beautiful figure for all to enjoy.
  12. I almost picked this up at the LEGO store. I didn't like the price, so I passed. But otherwise I would have snatched it up right away. It looked really neat and fun.
  13. Poor Lex and his toupe... But the Russell Crowe funny made me chuckle out loud. Doesn't happen too often. They really should make Gladiator themed sets. Who wouldn't enjoy some good old fashioned blood sport? I know kids would! But their parents wouldn't...for shame. Keep them coming!
  14. I think that is correct. I've read something like that from somewhere else. To stagger the release allows more things to get produced instead of only focusing on ONE theme at a time. It allows easier transition and availability worldwide.
  15. Looks great! Instantly recognizable. I didn't love the movie, but it's nice to see some love for Indy. Keep up the great work. I'd love to see more scenes from you.
  16. That is awesome. I heard they had quite the surge towards the end there. So good for them. I agree that every LEGO city needs more female minifigures. I understand why they don't include a lot since mainly boys play with them and girls play with Friends, but since you can incorporate the two, there are a lot more girls playing with all sets than there used to be. My daughter loves the minidolls and the minifigures, so I'm on board for more female centric figures. If you imagine the world population split down the middle, then I'd at least like to see a trend towards that for future releases. It might never reach that amount, but the more the merrier. I guess that is what helps with the CMF line. And I try to pick up as many as I can from the build a minifigure station at the LEGO store. I will pick this up for my daughter if it becomes a reality.
  17. I think I typically keep working on it until it does come out right. I don't do in process pictures/documentation only because I don't take the time. I rarely have time to document the finished build. I have lots that still needs pictures. But if there is something interesting you want to incorporate in the future, I would recommend getting pictures of that set-up at least to know what you were doing years down the road when you've otherwise forgotten all about it.
  18. Thanks for the input. I've been considering that van more and more. It was never on the radar until I picked up a few other more advanced builds and I really enjoyed it. Too bad I missed that 30% off sale. That would have clinched that set. I guess I'll continue to wait for another sale then.
  19. Thanks for the review. Friends has gone beyond expectations. I think TLG nailed it with this theme. The basket is quite nice. U didn't know it existed. I may have to pick it up. But not at that price. Has anyone noticed the friend line doesn't give that many figures in each set, yet no one complains about it but in other sets, if you don't get enough figures it is an outrage.. Thanks for the info. I quite liked your humor too! Edit: also what head is the minifigure head?
  20. I agree about not needing play features since I don't play with them. But since the target audience does, it makes sense why they are there. One problem becomes the large exclusives that have play features, since most kids will not acquire those sets due to the price. So if those are directed at adults, why include play features? I typically buy sets for the figures and the pieces to MOC with. There are only a handful of sets that are together and displayed. The rest are purchased for the assortment of pieces and the figures. Since my interests are varied, I end up buying a lot of sets with random pieces. It helps in the long run. Edit: what is a cfol?
  21. Clanure - That is quite the assortment. I saw a lot of people fill the cups your way. Only me and one other guy filled it as tight as we could. (That's what she said) That second store must have been amazing if you only left the first store with a couple of cups our of 22! I was excited about my 2 cups overall... As far as the haul, is say there are a lot of useful pieces. Do you have any planned builds?
  22. Well as far as I know the hot dog stand is the only freebie per the calendar. But it would be nice to have a surprise freebie a lรก LOTR.
  23. I did too at first glance. That's why you should always read the note...(kudos to the reference catchers) But hopefully it will look at least similar to that. I could see that happening.
  24. I agree. That photoshopped hair looks great! And clearly they have the mold now, so they just need a recolor. I'd love to see an updated Tauriel with that mold. If not, I may have to paint it myself (which I'm not a fan of doing).
  25. Thanks for the ideas. I don't love the Sail Barge, but I mostly want Leia and maybe Weequay. I especially don't love the price of the set, but I know Leia will claim a pretty penny to acquire, so sometimes it is more worthwhile to just get the set in the long run. The $20 Jango set is decent and I will probably throw that in there somewhere, but I don't care for the set. I mostly would just want Jango. Yes, it sounds like I could ebay these figures, but sometimes they go for way more than they should. Arkham is actually $160 here, so your list would put me at $300. I think the Arkham building looks pretty good and the figures are awesome that come with it. Was the build pretty satisfying?
