I concur with many here. Very impressive. A lot of great details and structures throughout. I love how Nick Fury is cruisin' a long like a BAMF. I do love the buildings. The church actually fits really well with the surrounding area. I was hesitant about adding one, but yours is very fitting. I was never used to it until I moved to the city I live in now, but now I can understand how/why they would be incorporated into a city layout. I really like the 4th picture from the bottom. The corner building. Was that entered into the Modular Madness contest last August? It looks very familiar. I really like how it looks. I was recently building a new corner modular and it was going to have a similar layout to that. I must have been inspired sub-consciously by that build. I may have to rethink how I do mine so it doesn't look too similar. Granted, the colors and design of the building will be different overall. Either way, great builds. I love seeing it all together. I need to get to working on mine now instead of putting everything off.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I never considered him as an ADU member, but I guess since I didn't buy any of those sets I didn't think that way. As far as the rest of the series, I'd say the Bumblebee girl is the most elusive around here. Granted out of the cases I've seen, they've been pretty picked through with mostly mechanics left. So I guess I should start army building them. The tomahawk warrior is upsetting since his tomahawk is so similar to Gold's bar.- 1,076 replies

My local Target had one the day it came out and I haven't seen any since with the minifigure. I assume my Targets either didn't receive that many OR it was popular enough to sell that quickly. Best of luck to you! Recently, at Target, I did pick up the Hobbit Chronicles Volume II book. It shows all the behind the scenes stuff. It looks really neat. I haven't looked at all of it yet though.

I think Gandalf vs Sarumon would the best. It has a little build to go with two wizards (one good/one bad). It could tie into what you want to do anyway. The LR set is good, but you're right, it's mostly for the figures and they won't tie into your castle theme as much. And as far as Super Heroes go, those are nice starter sets, but if you don't care about the set or the figures, you will just be disappointed. I love Batman, but that particular version of Batman isn't my favorite. And I'm not a huge Superman fan, but with it involving a vehicle and aliens you've never heard of, probably not the best to tie into your more historical theme. Same goes for Turtles. The Turtles are really well done and I have enjoyed the figures, but I haven't built any of the sets. I say get something you will actually use the most. LOTR sounds like a winner to me.

Why the Rainbow MOCs and did you do it?
TheLegoDr replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I didn't build rainbow MOCs as a kid or adult, but I am like a lot of others. I will substitute another color if it is the right piece, just to see how it would fit and look. I guess I have enough imagination that I can picture the entire build from just a few pieces, even if they are in the wrong color. I show it to someone else and they may have no idea what I'm looking at, but it works for me. Usually I try to work with what I have originally and not change colors, but if I absolutely have to, then I will substitute at first and see. Sometimes I end up changing everything I wanted to accommodate the new piece color because I don't want to order. I have rarely made any online orders and just use what I have. It is surprising what you can come up with when you limit yourself. I'm not acting like my MOCs are amazing, but I think they turned out pretty decent for my limited piece choices at times. -
It is an awesome creation, but I don't see it passing. Even if enough people wanted to buy this version over the other recent version, I still don't see them making it since they already released one. Which is unfortunate. But honestly, even if they didn't release the most recent tumbler, I would be 99% sure they still wouldn't release this as a CUUSOO set. Either way, congrats.

The pros and cons of being an exhibitor
TheLegoDr replied to ShaydDeGrai's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm glad you found it to be a positive experience. I don't plan on traveling with my creations anytime soon, but we will be doing some local shows in the future with our local LUG. I'm looking forward to it/not looking forward to it. Mostly don't want other people touching my LEGO, which I know they aren't supposed to, but obviously it happens. Other than that, I just know I won't have minifigures or anything worthwhile to steal. -
How is the set? I mostly just want that for the figures, but the set has some useful pieces in it for MOCs.

It typically boils down to what did you grow up with. My first SW movie was Phantom Menace and I was in high school at that time, if that says anything. I'm not saying the PT are better than the OT, nor vice versa, but it does seem usually what you can link to your childhood usually wins out, if only for nostalgic reasons. With that said, the PT and OT both have some great characters and scenes. The downside is they added in some extra humor in the PT that didn't always blend with the rest of the series. I keep forgetting about this Ewok village set. I may have to save more for that. Too many good sets this year. Thanks LEGO

Great little details here! The building is hard to say it is LEGO at times. The landscape is brilliant. Are those flower stalks official LEGO? I've never seen brown and dark tan before, but maybe I haven't been looking. The kid's expressions are priceless. I call that a win. I really like the pathway and that final picture. The effects used really make it stand out. Keep up the great work. I may try my hand at something like this for a convention in the future. Maybe nearer to Halloween.

Love the mods! The official is pretty poorly designed, but they at least included something and we all can mod it later I suppose. I do really like the 6 wide better mostly due to the seating. The brown does add a nice contrast with the black. Keep up the great work. I will definitely try my hand at this when I finally get the cinema.

How badly do you want it? I think that is the key question. Since the last set came out in 2010, it is very possible to have a remake in the next few years. But at the same time, we already have an updated Boba and with this being the third version, I would almost think they won't do a remake. I just recently purchased a used/like new 8097 on Craigslist here in US for about half of what it retailed for. It had everything including the box. Are there sites like that in Germany? Maybe you could snag a really good deal below the other prices you listed.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah I don't count Mr. Gold as part of the set personally. I realize some people do and I feel bad for the people who won't "complete" their sets then. Either way, I've been asked multiple times lately if I have found or if I am looking for Mr. Gold. I flat out tell them no, I have no interest. They all seem shocked. Best of luck to them finding it, but I personally want the Bumblebee Girl more than Mr. Gold.- 1,076 replies

That certainly is a crummy build. Or should I say crumbly. Great use of pieces here. It certainly looks like ruins. The wall texturing is very present here. That silly fellow trying to walk through, doesn't he see the many skulls laying about?

I loved that line of Pirates as a kid. Those were some of my favorite sets too. I miss the raised baseplates for some of those sets. It just adds some more size/depth to an otherwise small build. That sounds like a lot of fun rebuilding all of those sets. I should dig mine out and sort all of the pieces for old time's sake. As for an offer, I would have no idea. I can't imagine they would be terribly cheap. But I'm sure you could "rip" them off if you wanted. I don't mean plunder, I mean lowball it and see what they take. The worst they can say is no and then you negotiate up to your high price.

It is a very nice mod. I love that about LEGO. However, I may be the only that prefers the original over this, only because I think the rounded undercarriage shape is essential and the larger out of scale version nailed it. I do agree that one door is enough. I don't mind the out of scale version, but I can understand completely why you modded yours. I considered doing that, but I wanted to maintain the same function with the wheels. I think one of the main problems with scale, as if the coach wasn't already too tall, let's add a safe on top to make it appear even taller... Simply removing that might help with the size distortion, if only a little. But keep up the great work. If you come up with any other mods, please share with us.

Great funnies. I have a few that I thought would be funny, but I don't have time to actually photograph anything, so I will probably wait until someone else does them. It might even be the same funny as what 8BrickMario wants to do since it involves stagecoach people in mine as well..

Those FG figures are no good. But I wouldn't expect them to be. The entire cartoon has weird shapes for people (so do Simpsons). We'll see how LEGO pulls off the Simpsons. I love(d) the show, but sets are hard to wrap my head around. Granted, my 3 year old already calls all of my LEGO figures Simpsons since they are yellow. Since the majority of my collection is Licensed skin tone, she is used to seeing them.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
So the "red laser eyes" are available in all three sets? As good as the cheapest set is, I think I will just get the most expensive and get more baddies and Superman. Lois would be wanted, but not as much to pick up that set for repeats. -
Great builds! I was wondering how they compare to the scale of the official mini-modulars. I love mini building and these do not disappoint. Keep up the great work!

I think having a second townhouse is most welcome to the line-up. I like both versions -- doors next to each other or on opposite sides. As far as Pets goes, I would also think the signage should be more central. I'd also prefer to see the middle black roofing slopes to be singular in nature as the rest of the build. But that's just me. Unless a second PS was given to me, I won't be seeing my plans to fruition. But yours is a nice touch. I like the idea. Good job!
