2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Classic_Spaceman replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Agreed, though I can see us getting Crows/Ravens again at some point, given their popularity. Maybe in a future tournament set? Lions, Falcons, and BKs would obviously appear, but there is not an obvious fourth classic faction (Dragon Masters and Fright Knights are too fantasy for a joust, and Royal Knights would overlap with the Lions for obvious reasons); we could theoretically just get two factions, but a large 18+ joust with only two factions (one of which is probably reused!) would be extremely disappointing! Crows would round out the lineup nicely, as well as potentially give us barding for the faction. -

I doubt it; Letty’s car in F7 was a Dodge Challenger SRT8 (not a Hellcat), and she has never driven a Hellcat in any of the other films. Additionally, LEGO would include the franchise and character names in the set name if 77237 were a F&F set!- 135 replies

Holiday Madness Mafia: Day 2
Classic_Spaceman replied to KotZ's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
“I’ve been mulling this over since the spat between Eloise and Susan started - What if the person flipped on was Naughty? That’d basically confirm the flipper to be Nice, so it could work as a strat if the Naughties are willing to sacrifice one of their own. . . I’m just not shaking the feeling that something’s off here. . .” “I think you’re a Naughty Lister, hence my vote; I don’t really see the benefit in last-minute flipping if you’re Nice.” -

“Non-committal, sure, but hiding in a group this small’s a bad Naughty List strat, and it’s not like we had much to go on in the way of evidence when he talked last. I do agree with his vote, though, and Eloise has only gotten more suspicious since then!” “Eloise, you mean?” “Yeah, I’m actually getting a similar feeling from Clark - He’s used to hunting more elusive and dangerous Naughties, so he has been running through all the possible roles and strategies they might have at their disposal.” “I definitely agree; I’m not so worried about you pulling one as I am about Eloise.” -

“You know, something about this back-and-forth between Eloise and Susan just feels off to me. . . I’m not sure why Susan wouldn’t change her vote if she thinks Eloise is the more likely Naughty List candidate, especially since her vote for Scott was just retaliatory.” “Just a hunch, but I’m expecting Eloise to flip again last-minute and nail Susan - She’s at two votes, so only one more for a kill. I wouldn’t advocate for that; she’s not done anything particularly Naughty aside from being quiet yesterday.” -

We do see the palace at 1:27, though, and we do not see the exterior of the cantina, so I think that this is reading into things a bit much. As for the Boba’s throne room set, it was focused on the main hall and entryway (based on the Mando S2 epilogue scene); additionally, if there were any real controversy over the palace, then it would not have appeared as the main location in TBoBF! -

Holiday Madness Mafia: Day 2
Classic_Spaceman replied to KotZ's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
“My suspicion of you only started with your suspicious behaviour, Eloise. Besides that, I don’t know who’s Naughty and who’s Nice - except for me, obviously; I’m Nice - but that’s what I’ve been trying to piece together from what few clues we have.” “You’re essentially presenting me with the challenge to find a better suspect, or else ‘admit’ to being Naughty - I’m not taking that bait.” “I’m not sure what you mean by this, since neither you nor Clark have a penalty vote.” “And how do you know that? Are you a protector, a killer, or another role?” “Is this supposed to be some kind of reverse-psychology? Regardless, it’s confusing and only seems intended to keep us spinning in circles until the end of the day!” “Distraction’s a Naughty List play - Why are you being distracting, Eloise? At best you’re a third party alignment, but we don’t have any real evidence of that right now, and you could just be trying to deflect by hinting at that.” “Killing the most suspiciously-behaved Nice Lister would be the better strat for the Naughties, since it’d leave us with no leads and a bunch of suspicion for everyone.” -
Holiday Madness Mafia: Day 2
Classic_Spaceman replied to KotZ's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
"It could, but we really don't have the people to spare on a gamble like that!" "Let's see what happens - I'd like to see another day without a lynch, since we don't have too much to go on, but I'm expecting someone to flip last-minute. That said, I'm becoming increasingly suspicious of Eloise; she talks a lot without really saying anything, and her reasoning for voting for me feels less like a Nice Lister uncovering a scummy plot, and more like a Naughty Lister who feels caught and is trying to deflect." "Or the fact that you played the same card before means you're playing it again, and you're trying to get rid of me since I was able to see through the confusion and reveal your plot? See - We can go round and round all day like this; it's just more confusion!" "Personally, the 'If you suggest a potential plot then you're the one who did it' line of reasoning - especially when it's based in something you did before - just doesn't hold up from a Nice List perspective." -

First, George Lucas produced and funded TCW, so all retcons/additions to the lore would need to be approved by him (remember "Darth Icky" in TFU?); second, the ARC-170 strikes me as a ship that tries to do everything but ends up not performing as well as more specialised starfighters do. The Y-wing is a better bomber and only requires two crewmen, while the Z-95 and V-wing serve as more nimble interceptors. The major downside to the V-wing when compared to the Z-95 and V-19 is its lack of shields and limited firepower; the V-19 did not have shields either, but it actually packed a decent punch, and the Z-95 had an excellent balance of shielding, firepower, and manoeuvrability. The limited weapons and lack of shields on the V-wing make it better for swarm tactics (as we see the Empire implement later with the standard TIEs), but it is not capable of dogfighting in the way that the Z-95 is. I see the Z-95 as a more stripped-down take on the ARC-170 (or beefed-up V-19); I do not think that it was intended to be an upgrade to the ARC-170 (as an upgrade would have retained the dual role), just that it (alongside the Y-wing) ended up performing better than the over-engineered ARC-170. -

The ARC-170 is a fighter-bomber hybrid that requires three crew - I get what the Republic was going for when designing it (an all-in-one craft), but ultimately the Y-wing was a superior bomber and the Z-95 was a more agile and effective interceptor/dogfighter. It is also worth noting that the Z-95, unlike the V-19 or the V-wing, actually had shields. They literally sound the same (see the end of RotS)! I sort of agree, but there also was a lot that we do not see in TCW (P2 Gree, P2 Bly (barring a quick cameo), Bacara, any development for Neyo, etc!), so I am not overly bothered by it. Boba was kriffed over by both the budget and movie-chopped-into-chunks pacing of TBoBF; the story itself was fine (albeit a bit too low-stakes), but the plot needed to be tighter (such as establishing Cad Bane as an antagonist earlier, having some surviving Tuskens aid Boba (maybe instead of Mando?) retake Mos Espa from the Pykes, focus more on alliances that Boba forms (maybe he reaches out to Cobb Vanth and proposes an arrangement to bring Freetown into his territory in exchange for protection from the Pykes and other crime syndicates), etc). -

The V-wing seems to have been a late-war development, as we rarely see them in TCW, but they are becoming the Empire’s standard fighter by TBB. I think that the reason for using the Z-95 during later seasons of TCW and saving the V-wing for RotS and TBB is for the sake of a visual transition from the Republic to the Empire. The Z-95 is a precursor to the X-wing, so it is viewed as more heroic, while the V-wing is a predecessor to the TIE Fighter. -
Very interesting that the Dragonians come from the First Realm! I am disappointed that the back dragons are either absent or only feature briefly in the show, as the idea of a symbiotic/parasitic relationship between Dragonians and these dragons would be an interesting story. BTW, do we know if the Dragonians in the show will have wings and tails (that do not detach and become a separate dragon), or will they just have the base lava monster design? I wonder how this ends up happening - Maybe Sora uses her powers to build Zane into a massive robot? 🤔

LEGO seems to have begun experimenting with villain/villain-coded factions in the late 1980’s to early 1990’s; Blacktron I/II ran from ‘87 to ‘91, while the Black Knights were released between ‘88 and ‘92. -

“I said I don’t understand your reasoning, but I’d like to know how you’re coming to your conclusions.” “Careful - You’ve both got a one-vote penalty, so all it’d take is a Naughty Lister switching their vote late in the day for you to get killed!” “Yeah, I agree; I’ll have to Vote: Eloise (Trekkie99) as well, unless she can provide some better reasoning.” -

"How does that indicate foreknowledge? We were getting way too bogged down in speculating on how roles could've cancelled out to prevent a kill last night and overlooking the more likely possibility. That's just basic deduction - The simplest answer is generally the right one!" "I'm now interested in knowing why you think this explanation in particular is suspect - Do you know something?" -

I suspect that it will be slightly larger (restricted by the cockpit canopy size) and also have an interior - The cockpit seat needs to be wide enough for two Minifigs to sit side-by-side ("After we're done, we can go get some ice cream") and there needs to be a place to store seismic charges (with a dropping feature!); the interior will likely be based on a combination of cross-section artwork and what we see in The Mandalorian/TBoBF. -

The bottom uses four 6x6 wedge plates, which form four-stud wide ends that fit the airlock pieces without any unsightly overhang; there are no curved plates with the right dimensions that also come to a 1x4 'point'. Using curved (macaroni) bricks for the first layer might look better, but it could also cause stability issues. I was assuming that the pin plates would need to be removed. -

Same; I am not expecting anything new (at best, we get pieces that would leave PAB with the retirement of the LKC). It almost certainly will be either (or both) of those, barring some unexpected generosity on LEGO’s part! Best case scenario for a new faction is something like the Viking ship, which had four new prints and one new mould - Maybe a new Black Knights’ torso, legs, and shield? -

I was thinking that it could be for the two included airlock covers; they seem to be able to fit into that space, and the meteors are more of a terrain side-build than something that is intended to be stored in the main model. -

“That’s exactly what I thought the Naughty List was going to do today - Frame one of the Nice Listers who has a penalty vote, then try to get enough others to gang up on them that they get lynched. So far, we’ve not seen that, though; I’m wondering if the Naughty List thought that’d be too obvious, since whoever starts the bandwagon is immediately suspect. Maybe they’re waiting for a Nice Lister to start it, so whichever way the rest of us vote, the Naughty List gets their kill.” -
Holiday Madness Mafia: Day 2
Classic_Spaceman replied to KotZ's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
“Whoever stole the presents also stole the Naughty and Nice List, so it’s possible they could’ve switched some names around; you're right, though, that recruitment - if the Naughty List has it - would have to be a one-off.” “I’m wondering, just generally, why anyone with a one-shot role would use it on the first night. Put yourself in the shoes of a Naughty Lister for a minute - Would you kill on the first night, or would you save that ace for later on, when you can even the odds if you’re close to being caught?” “Same thing goes for a protector - Would you use that on the first night when we don’t know anyone’s alignment, or would you wait until you see a presumed Nice Lister being harassed by suspected Naughty Listers during the day?” “I think we’re chasing our tails here, trying to explain why no one died last night. The real answer may be the one we’re overlooking because it seems too simple - No one used their actions last night.”
