LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

That Horizon set looks really good! I am not familiar with the property, but in addition to an excellent PPP and well-printed Minifigs, the machines seem pretty accurate (and I like the parts usage for them!). That said, is anyone disappointed by Varl? From the images that I have found of him, the majority of his legs are covered by either dark brown boots or a dark brown coat, so the olive green is really just a sliver down the front and across the middle of the legs (between the coat and boots); also, most of his arms are covered by olive green cloth (with blue and white bands and armour over top), with the only exposed skin being at his shoulders. Dark brown legs with olive green printing would have been better, as would olive green arms with the existing print (and a bit of medium brown on the shoulders); also, he really needed the fur collar piece (especially since he does not get any moulded armour!), as without it, his silhouette feels off. -

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
True, but this is really the exception that proves the rule IMO; Harry Potter is the next closest comparison, but that is eight movies and the two CMF that we got had repeats between them (and a few ‘figs in each series were just Gluppus Shittius No. 7!). -
Provided that it is not something weird like a shadowbox or art-piece, a modular Arkham is a pretty safe bet. As for Minifigs, we are probably looking at 8-12, not 26! Safe bets include: Batman, a Bat-Fam member (Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, Batwoman (provided her cowl mould is still around), Red Hood, etc), Joker (inmate), Harley (inmate), Mr. Freeze (inmate; because of the new helmet), Riddler (inmate; easy to make), Scarecrow (inmate; easy to make), Poison Ivy (inmate; easy to make), Hugo Strange, 1-2 guards (or one guard and Aaron Cash in the same uniform), and maybe a deeper-cut character like Hush, Azreal, Cassandra Cain, or Spoiler; Deathstroke, Black Mask, or Deadshot would be great (and would reference the Aslume games), but they feel less likely to me. Pyg and Zsasz are out due to their gruesome nature, and while Croc or Bane as Minifigs could work, I think that LEGO sees them as Bigfig characters (which are less likely to appear, especially since D2C sets rarely have new moulds). Probably not, since LEGO’s mech line started long before this show debuted, but it may end up being a source of inspiration for DC mechs going forward (as well as justification for why someone like Wonder Woman needs a mech - Is she stupid?). As an aside, of all the heroes who could appear in the show, why is the one for whom a mech makes the most sense (Cyborg) not included?! That is because the mods consider this thread to be Arkham City at this point; as long as the walls hold and the lunacy does not spill out into the other threads, they are happy to let it continue here!

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

What are the chances that we actually get a Sauron Minifig? While he does need a new head mould (and ideally recoloured faun legs), the new CMF pterodactyl wing-arms would be perfect for him! Regarding the Spider-Verse CMF rumour, while there is absolutely a lot of potential for Minifigs, I am somewhat skeptical that LEGO would make a CMF series based entirely on a single piece of media (a movie and its sequel) - I can see us getting Spider-Verse Minifigs (or their comic counterparts) in a generic Marvel CMF, but I am holding off on any reaction or judgement until we get more info! -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Is it a render? It looks real to me - Especially considering the little errors like upside-down visors (a few of the Minifigs have them) and torsos that are not pressed completely down on the legs. -
You could always expand the alien crew to include different species - Grab a head from a spare CMF alien tourist and a pair of short legs in white, and you have a nice Grey crew member for the team! What was the image? The City spaceship?

The issue with battle packs for Castle is that the parts that would be included are available on PAB fairly inexpensively and in whatever quantity is desired (a knight with a sword and shield runs about $4.10 average), so a $15-$20 set with four Minifigs (and less customisability, since the heads, helmets, and weapons are the same in each copy of the set) does not really feel like a great deal. The only way for Castle battle packs to work is if they introduce a new torso and/or leg piece for each faction, feature armour/helmet/weapon recolours, and include a horse with barding. Animals are usually rather expensive on PAB, so a $20 set with a horse ($5 on PAB, not including barding) and some recolours and new prints would make a great starter set for Castle fans and army-builders, with the new pieces showing up on PAB a few months later for the more serious army-builders. I was personally hoping that we were going to get the double-stud neck bracket piece in black (as we really need that part recoloured out of clear!); the single-nozzle jetpack looks rather weak compared with what I thought we were getting (the same brickbuilt design, but with two nozzles).

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
This all presupposes that LEGO is trying to pass these Minifigs off as true Classic Space, but that is obviously not the case - Two of the three examples are GWPs with no reference at all to CS aside from the Minifigs (no classic colours, ships, etc), and the third is a LEGO-exclusive quasi-Creator set that acts more as an add-on to the City Space line than than to anything CS (though we do get a little reference to the theme in the included rover’s colours). I think that LEGO is presenting these Minifigs as their own thing, similar to Neo-Classic Space (just with the modernised CS helmets instead of motorcycle helmets, and occasionally no airtanks) - That would explain the clear visors and modern heads! IMO it is worth noting that “what it means” to be a Classic Space Minifig is entirely constructed by the FOL community after the fact - The original line was just called Space, the helmets were the only helmet part in production (used across Town, Castle, and Space), and the “Standard Grin” heads were just the default of their day. This era of the Space theme only became known as “Classic Space” after LEGO moved on to what we consider to be the faction era of Space, and its distinction was marked by its use of older parts. As such, I am not really concerned with the “accuracy” of references to Classic Space in GWPs, City sets, Creator sets, etc, as these are meant to be references to the spirit of the original theme rather than to its exact designs. For direct remakes, however (such as the Galaxy Explorer), I do want the Minifigs to look like the OGs! For me, what is important is that we get Classic Space torsos, classic-style helmets, and airtanks, all in the same colours and at roughly the same time; the head and legs are common, and I am fine with cobbling CS Spacemen together - What matters is that I have them (affordably!), not how I made them! -
My issue with the Snowtroopers is that their helmets should really be two pieces (similar to Vader’s, with the mask attaching to the neck and the helmet attaching normally), both since the single-moulded designs do not quite capture the on-screen appearance (and the helmets interfere with the updated neck bracket for backpacks!), and because there is no way to make Galactic Marines with the current helmet design! I would like to see LEGO move to a two-part design with the mask and backpack as a single element that attaches on the neck (LEGO generally avoids doubling up on neckwear pieces, presumably for stability reasons), along with a new helmet piece that fits smoothly over the mask. The Snowtrooper Commander would need a different mask piece with a sleeker design and no backpack, and the Flametroopers seen in the Jedi games could use the regular Snowtrooper masks with different printing; the Galactic Marines would have the standard Snowtrooper mask piece in white and the helmet recoloured in dark red. 100%! 👍

Off of where??? Depending on the parts used for the Creator dragon, there may have been multiple potential colour-schemes in consideration (we have seen this before), and LEGO finally chose green-and-red because they changed the DnD dragon (and because those are the classic colours). BTW, since we have occasionally gotten palette-swap rereleases of Creator sets in the past, I would love to get a spooky “Halloween” version of this dragon in black and orange/trans-orange at some point! Ah, that makes sense! From what I know, dragons in DnD are fully-sentient beings (not just mindless monsters), and each colour has certain attributes associated with it. The sheep was not retired (in the sense that the goat was for so long!) - Parts disappear and reappear on PAB all the time, in relation to the retirement dates of the sets in which they appear. As for what we get in the City tractor, the current sheep (white with black) and the current lamb (white) were both released last in sets from 2022 (the City barn and the LKC respectively), so when those sets retire, those parts will no longer be produced until another set uses them - Because of this, I am fine with not getting any recolours, since the City tractor is keeping the existing sheep and lamb pieces in-production! -

That is overstating things a bit - I would prefer classic heads, and the lack of airtanks when both colours are still in-production is extremely frustrating, the set overall is decent for a GWP (especially since PAB Bestseller parts can be used to get to GWP thresholds, so you can pick up some heads and airtanks on order to get this set as a bonus!). As for the visors, I agree that they do not really look good on the Classic-style helmets (at least in clear - Maybe an opaque colour would look OK?), but the fact that the updated Classic helmets are compatible with visors is a good thing overall - Speaking of, when are we getting a modernised version of the Yellow Castle knights’ visors? Those would be great for knights that just wear shoulder armour, since the slimmer sides would not interfere with the shoulders and the faceplate would not jut out over the torso oddly (the houndskull visor really needs a breastplate piece to balance it out, IMO)! -
How so? You can still use the BAM jumpsuits for generic staff positions (monitoring comms, operating the crane, doing general non-specified work, etc), while the division-colour jumpsuits can be used specifically for science lab personnel, command rover drivers, maintenance crew, etc.

Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Deadpool is in a unique position in that he is a comedic character who breaks the fourth wall and is known for being violent and profane, so it is actually easier to integrate him into a PG-13 movie than a character who is just violent without being self-referential - All they would really need to do is have a running joke of Deadpool being on his best behaviour because he knows that he is in a PG-13 movie (and an Avengers movie at that!). The issue of legacy is significant with many of these (and other current) characters (Yelena - Nat, Sam, Walker - Cap, Riri, Rhodey - Tony, Shuri - T’Challa, etc), and BNW is making a point of differentiating Sam!Cap from Sam!Cap (“I’m not Steve Rogers”); I think that Marvel is aware of this and will lean into it - Remember that the first Avengers movie did the same thing with the concept of a superhero team-up! I suspect that these characters (minus Spider-Man, plus Ironheart and She-Hulk, and maybe Shuri) will form the Young Avengers/A-Force, while Spidey, Rhodey, and other older and more well-established characters will join Sam’s New Avengers team. -
The torsos will 100% end up on PAB, as the other CS '24-'25 parts did (with the one exception of the blue division's jetpacks)! I am personally looking forward to building up a nice amount of jumpsuit crew for use inside the base and other pressurised environments!

Oh, I love that!! The BAM-style crew jumpsuits for each division are excellent, though I do wish they had printed legs (which they still may, as the image is quite blurry!); I like seeing the EVA suit piece return (and recoloured!), along with the cute Dreamling-body alien crew member! While the completed ship looks a little angular/not aerodynamic (not that that is needed in space!), the modularity more than makes up for it! I am seeing four main sections - The cockpit and area behind it (extending to the first reddish orange airlock piece), the pod (almost identical to the standard ones), the round lab section, and the rear engine (there appears to be an airlock piece between the lab and the grey engine at the back); as well as at least four attachments - The two cargo containers on the pod, and the wings. Since the cockpit module has 1x2 bar pieces on the sides, something attaches via clips (rather than just the Technic connections of the airlock pieces) - Most likely the cargo boxes and the wings (as attaching the wings to the sides of the cockpit module and the engine module to the back would make a nice small shuttle!). As the 'blocks' between the lab module and the wings appear too heavy to be stable with just clip-and-bar connections (and because they would look weird on the sides of the cockpit module), they must attach to the lab module via Technic pin connections (also, a symmetrical round lab with Technic connections on all four sides allows for more ship and base configurations!); this means that the 'blocks' are likely Technic-to-clip adaptors, with the wings themselves detaching at the area with the slopes and batteries. Also, if these 'blocks' are adaptors then the cargo boxes would be able to connect to them and attach to any airlock connector. Overall, this gives us four modules (cockpit, pod, lab, engine), two adaptors, and four attachments (two cargo boxes and two wings) - A total of ten rearrangeable sections, which also allows the ship to reconfigure into the classic smaller-ship-and-base form! The mods and expansions for this set are going to be awesome! I can see a bit of lab equipment (a screen and a crystal) in the round section, and there will probably be someplace to put the EVA pack and small robot when not in use; depending on the amount of equipment inside the ship, as well as how much interior space is taken up with gear (helmet racks, tools) and cargo, the ship also probably fits around seven Minifigs! -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
While I do think that Thunderbolts* will be more darkly humorous than typical MCU films, I seriously doubt that Marvel would want to differentiate it from CA:BNW too much (and especially via an R-rating!) - BNW's trailers feature POTUS Ross's comment to Sam about restarting the Avengers quite heavily, and Thunderbolts* sees CIA Director (per BP:WF) Val assemble a team for covert operations; given the emphasis on the team not liking the "Thunderbolts" name (in addition to the asterisk in the marketing), I think that Thunderbolts* will end with the team becoming the New Avengers (led by Sam!Cap). Dark Avengers or Secret Avengers are also possibilities, but Marvel could use the back-to-back release to establish the New Avengers (n much the same way that Phase 1 introduced the OGs. The S-word was also the first word spoken in AoU (and just not really a bad word in general!), so it is almost certainly not indicative of an R-rating; if the movie were going to be R-rated, we would be more likely see gore and F-bombs in the trailer (neither of which were present). We definitely will see more R-rated Marvel content, but remember that DP&W stuck to its own corner of the Marvel universe, rather than directly crossing over with the PG-13 heroes. Also, DP&W needed to be R-rated, but not all MCU movies do (and they can even deal with dark concepts at the PG-13 level), and making something R-rated just for the sake of it (by adding excessive profanity and gore/graphic violence to a PG-13 script - e.g. "Tony Stark was able to build this in a f**king cave! With a f**king box of scraps!") would not be received well by audiences (and Marvel would lose out on merchandise sales, as the film could not be marketed to kids). -

Ahsoka’s Interceptor has three Minifigs (Ahsoka, R7, Anakin) - and even Jedi Bob’s JSF had three ‘figs (Jedi Bob, Clone Calamari, Gonk Droid) - so Yoda’s two-Minifig starfighter seems to be the anomaly. It is safe to assume that Plo Koon’s JSF will have three Minifigs as well, IMO. -

Creator dragon (aka Majisto’s steed) has leaked! The design looks like a cross between the RDT dragon and something from Ninjago, and it is obviously an update of the classic green-with-red-wings dragon of the Dragon Masters! My only criticisms are that there are no Minifigs, and that the eyes and lower jaw look a bit derpy (though both should be easy fixes) - Overall, an excellent design! There is also an interesting detail on the box art - A castle in the background, with a design that does not directly correspond to any made before! While this could absolutely mean nothing, LEGO has often placed future sets into the background of others’ box are (not as often in Creator, however), so we could be getting a look at the next Creator castle! The castle’s colours are similar to the 3-in-1, but it is primarily light grey instead of dark grey; the layout looks similar to the Yellow Castle (small gatehouse, two towers in the middle of the side walls, and a tall tower in the centre of the back wall), but the towers on the sides are not identical (left side’s is smaller, while the right’s is wider and has a yellow building with a dark blue roof), the gatehouse appears to be flush with the front wall (rather than offset forward a bit, as in both the YC and 3-in-1), and the gatehouse appears to have a door rather than a drawbridge. -
