  1. I would still make MOCs, because I enjoy doing it. But I certainly wouldn't be making instructions. It is tedious, annoying and exhausting work. It took me 100+ hours just for the building instructions for my 1:8 Nissan GT-R MOC. I had to take 2 weeks off work to find the time do it. I only make building instructions to help pay for the costs of the MOC, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford this hobby the way I do now. Of course I was also encouraged by @LvdH and others asking for building instructions, and I really appreciate people enjoying my MOCs.
  2. @howitzer You have a valid point, right now where there is a real competition forming on the horizon it is literally the worst time ever for TLG to have quality issues. Why cheap out now? But quality issues like that don't come into existance by themselves, so TLG must have made changes of some sort. Maybe one of the managers is an undercover spy from china Not very likely, but looking at some decisions that doesn't seem that far-fetched I don't think the quality issues are intentional, but are probably happening due to management trying to decrease production cost in some way while hoping the resulting problems stay small and can be resolved reasonably quickly.
  3. I agree with @howitzer, for example having the pinned topics in a "drop-down menu" could free up a lot of space on the first page.
  4. Most likely profit optimization. Sell the product for even more, while cheaping out on production quality and quality control. A sad reality for many big companies that can rely on their brand name and/or market dominance to sell the product. Right now most of the Kids probably don't even care, or don't even notice it because they just take some things as they are, and don't question it.
  5. I know this might seem a bit theorethical: Is there some way users could filter the what theý want to see? Maybe using the tags? That way the diversly intrested could see everything, SMF, Technic and Model Team, and people that only like technic for example could still only look at technic without having to see the other stuff they arn't really intrested in. It would be the best of both worlds.
  6. For some MOCs from the scale modelling Forum I agree that they'd feel at right at home here in the technic section. But I don't feel that way about MOCs that are basically 100% system and don't contain a single gear. I wouldn't really be happy about those coming here, as they have nothing to do with technic and all the other MOCs here Model Team is mostly system too, but it has a good amount of technic, gears too, so it kinda fits. I don't want to attack the user or anything like that, just an example of what I wouldn't like to see here as it just doesn't fit imo:
  7. @Jundis exactly. That's why I think it wouldn't be a good idea to exclude GBC's and make seperate contests. I also feel like the entry number will be quite low if GBC's are excluded.
  8. I wouldn't narrow it down too much. I think a contest that would allow for GBC's, but also for something else stationary would be better.
  9. So it would be like a "Stationary Technic Build" contest. But wheels that are not used to move the creation would still be allowed, right?
  10. Very cool that it is completely mobile on the trailer But I would absolutely hate to go on a ride on this thing
  11. Yeah I think that might be a big stress increase, because the force trying to bend the wheel hub upwards is way stronger with double wheels. More leverage, and with the massive weight...
  12. If you want to try what bricks fit before you order them just use LDCad or Stud.io to build it digitally first
  13. Wow, what a behemoth! 8.5 kg, that's 2.5x the weight of one of my 1:8 scale cars That's crazy... I like the lifting mechanism for the bed, where a support mechanism does the first bit of work and the mail lifting mechanism takes over once it has a sufficient working angle. Very intresting. The frame construction in the middle looked more like for a bridge than a vehicle, but looking at the weight it is better this way. Two questions: 1. The planetary hubs looked kind of dirty where the two parts meet up. Is that some kind of lubrication you applied or actual plastic dust? 2. The looks seem pretty accurate, but the headlights look off. Why did you use 2 rows of 4 lamps left and right, even though the real one only has one row of 4 lamps per side? It seams to easy to correct you must have a reason? Magnificent creation, thanks for sharing!
  14. Can we have 233 small dirt stickers for the panels too?
  15. I did a good while ago already. A goldmine of information. It is the second forum I am very active in exept Eurobricks. I enjoy it a lot, but it is a german forum with a smaller community and the focus is less on MOCs and more on the sets themselves. That's why I stil enjoy Eurobricks very much, despite the few things that bother me. The MOC quality here is unrivaled
  16. Many stores make no profit or even lose money with every LEGO set they sell, especially when they sell the really terrible themes that have to be like 50% off before anyone is even intrested. But they still stock LEGO because they think having LEGO will draw in buyers that then buy enough other things in the shop as well to make it worth it. I don't think it is a good buisness model, especially when LEGO keep a lot of the actually good selling sets to themselves (Exclusives). The only one making the big bucks is TLG themselves, and the savings we buyers get from large discounts are paid for by the seller, not by TLG.
  17. Yeah and that's not going to happen. Honestly I doubt this set will even draw any copycats attention. Anything that isn't a Supercar or maybe a flagship isn't worth the trouble and for a mediocre model like this one the Chinese are better off working with (or stealing from ) MOCers to get a model that is actually good.
  18. Yeah I kind of pity the customer service employees. It isn't threir fault problems like this exist, and they couldn't even send you good replacemts if they wanted to because it looks like all the bricks of this type are bad. Same situation as with the Sian green. Too bad the Managers up top that decided to decrease quality to increase profit even further will never be bothered by the customer complaints.
  19. @TechnicRCRacer I dont think so. The only other modern panels in dark green I could find on bricklink were 62531 and 64782. I doubt anyone could make a good supercar with just these few. And 99$ for THAT?! Hell nah!
  20. Cool project, and I thing the total RC shifting and "driving" is very cool. That way such a complex gearbox can be seen working without having to move 3 kg of weight. Only building the drivetrains seems like a pretty good solution for you as your mechanisms are very good, but your bodywork is often lacking. Btw, that freemake ad all over the screen is just a real pain. Please do something about it in future videos to make them less irritating and more enjoyable to watch
  21. Not my kind of car, I think the front is very ugly on the real car imo, but the car does look better in LEGO form The bodylines flow very well, I especially like the door area. The roof scoop is the only place that look a bit off. It looks very cool completely opened. The only thing that really bothers me are the front headlights. On your model it isn't really clear that there is supposed to be a glass cover there because the headlights are missing a visible "frame". The round pieces just look like they are exposed. I encountered the same problems when I built my FD RX-7: narrow angle headlights, and no transparent piece that would fit. Luckily the RX-7 headlights had a black frame surrounding the glass, and I replicated it using a flex axle, and it looked good. But that will be difficult here with the weird roundish shape of the headlights. And I have one question: What's up with the difference in rideheight on the pictures? In the first one the rideheight seems fine, not much but enough, but in the third one the front bumper is so low it is actually toughing the ground! Is there some kind of rideheight adjustement system? Looks like on air suspension in the third pic Thanks for sharing!
  22. @208 pp lego Sorry but most of us don't speak croissant, would you mind keeping it english in this forum?
  23. The Hood alone does look nice, but I agree that it doesn't really fit on a LEGO car. I agree with @syclone it would have l looked better if the hood was made more like LEGO panels, and maybe had some pinholes.
  24. @Jerry LEGO Creations @TeamThrifty I wasn't saying a realistic 1:8 suspension is impossible or not worth it or whatever. All I was saying is that building a realistic suspension is a lot easier in a very light, open-wheeled car. I myself always prefer a working, sturdy suspension over a very realistic one, but of course trying to do both is the goal
  25. While I do agree that the suspension is good, I also have to say that due to it being a F1 car, many problems normal 1:8 car MOCs have don't exist here. Weight: <1800 parts is a joke in comparison to normal 1:8 cars, some have 4000+ parts. And most importantly, Fitment: Due to the car not having wheel arches, fitment becomes irellevant. Thats also why the bad pivot point of the front wheels, outside the wheel, does not matter that much. Thats why I don't think this is a good comparison.
