There are many small farms around Batuhan, in the northwest of Kaliphlin. At one, a farmer and his son put the livestock into the stables for the night.

What a build! There are so many awesome details. I really like the diamond floor technique. Overall, having shelfs upon shelves packed with books and scrolls is the best part. The shelves built into the stone arches (third floor) are neat too. Your railing technique on the spiral stairs is terrific.

[MOC] Battle of the old ruins of Lyon's Keep
jtooker replied to sander1992's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I too love the tree. The lightly fortified position of the lion knights certain gives the impression of desperation out of the black knights. I would have liked a more elevated shot of the MOC to see more of the stonework and even a view from the other side (from behind the lion knights).- 8 replies

Awesome MOC! Great to see a hinged castle, they are a rare breed these days. The dark brown wood and black roof contrast well with the light bley stone and sand blue tower. I am most impressed with all the interior design you have done, especially butchering area. Seeing the minifigures going about their tasks is terrific, each is posed well as to tell their story. The landscaping around the outside fits this castle and your hunting lodge theme. I especially enjoy the pond area and the vegetation in and around it.

Fun MOC and story, though I did need the story to understand the MOC (particularly the portal). I'm not sure if the rider has already gone through the portal, or if the snake is preventing him from getting through - perhaps if the rider was coming out of the portal or the snake was between the portal and the rider it would be clearer. The bridge is my favorite part. The positioning of the horse and rider is also well done. I'll leave some comments on grammar (inline): As far as the vortex, I was not sure what it was until I read your text (though a vortex was my assumption). Perhaps rotating it a bit so it isn't square with the opening? The colors are great - they do not look natural. Other comments or suggestions are hard given piece limitations. I would use a few more slopes in the portal's 'door' way, perhaps some round 1x1 tiles/plates for rubble around it. Having the vines growing on the wall works well though.

On the one I tried, there was almost no clutch toward the top of the arch. At the bottom of the arch, the interior wall makes the depth too shallow. Right in the middle I could easily put a stud in and it stayed without issue. But you could not do 'all around the arch' techniques given by @mrcp6d.

I just got one - USA - got a "FREE Police Water Scooter (30567)". No website lag, 5 minutes before midnight eastern time.

I like the scrollwork on the columns as well as the log walls. Good luck with your moving/renovations!

In addition to what I commented on flickr (I did not recognize you), I do like the packed cobblestone as well as the window framing. Let's go Kaliphlin!

I agree. I also support TLG's choice to have final say on the final product - mostly because internet voting is not an accurate representation of the LEGO-buying population.
-
Ranked choice voting should be more prevalent in all polls! Election results would closer match the community's actual wants and desires regardless of additional 'similar' candidates.

Wonderful update to a classic set. This style would match the ideas blacksmith set. The plates and profile bricks you used on the 'red' walls are terrific; they give character to this MOC. The irregular base also fits what LEGO has done lately with some sets. Good luck! You should post this to the ideas thread too.

There are many castle sub-themes (and space), I wonder how the 'overall' theme votes will go and if castle and space will split their vote so much neither will make it into the top 3.

Great castle/keep on the water! The front of the castle looks great - you have a good balance of texture technique for the size of the walls. The brick (tile) built door fits well and looks heavy enough to hold up to intruders. The dark tan rocks at the back are a nice alternative to the normal dark bley. The base/stand is a nice, subtle way to frame the MOC. Thank you for sharing!

[MOC] The Black Dragon, Svart Dyr
jtooker replied to Louis of Nutwood's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great brick-built dragon - having brick wings is especially unique. -
Great comparison of similar symbols throughout the castle line! I agree with @MAB, these are fairly traditional herald symbols - and you've certainly got many others (dragon masters, black falcons, forestmen, fright knights) - the ones you see 'reappear' tend to be more traditional. I also disagree a bit about violence. I personally think making pirates fun for children is ridiculous given how most raped, pillaged and murdered. Having said that, there is a plethora of 'kid-focused pirate' material out there where no one gets killed - LEGO is just one of many.
