Very nice - it is a great addition to that series. I've enjoyed seeing your group members' take on autumn. I personally love all the colors this time of the year. I like the technique you used for the path. The amount of tension depicted overflows the size of the MOC (that is a good thing, but I'd love to see the surrounding wood built up and shown too - I'm certainly imagining it from what you've given).

Great MOC! I enjoyed seeing it at Virtual Brickworld. I really like your window design (the yellow with brown piece over them). The trees are also quite stylish.

I love the MOC and enjoyed your segment in the Virtual Brickworld. I'm happy to see these pictures since the video quality was not quite good enough to see many of the details. Great Halloween MOC - you really captured the spooky feel. The lighting in the MOC was well done too.

I love the brickwork style you went with on this castle. Like with your other MOC, you've added just enough extra detail to make this MOC interesting while still being a believable/potential set/kit. The castle fits very well on the raised baseplate and the tower is an especially nice touch. The roof supports for the tower (round 1x1 bricks and plates) are superb. The occasional buttresses around the walls and tower are nice details and there seem to be just the right number of (and right sized) windows. I'll leave two minor critiques. The first is that the roofs are a bit plain - I like the few dark blue slopes you included in forestmen MOC and think some dark red slopes would be a nice touch here. The other is the use of the pre-fab wall pieces, though using the printed ones helps a bunch. What you did for that sized tower might be best, but I'd be curious if you tried any (non-square) brick-built towers. Thank you for sharing your MOC.

That is a fun MOC! I like the interplay of the ground, stone and how the stone and wood building sits in it. Good luck on ideas.

I agree. Wood and stone with a bit of iron. For power sources, you'd expect horse, water or manual cranks, though you could expand to wind or magic. Grain mills seems like a good 'base' that you could expand upon. I would think steam would be a step too far. I don't know too much about Technomancy or Magi-tech, but using 'magic' as the source of technology sounds like a great way to keep the medieval theme without slipping into steampunk (or steampunk disguised as medieval). For inspiration, I'm thinking of the hobbit movie, specifically the orcs in the mountains scenes as well as the dwarves' halls.

Wow! That is epic. I enjoyed the write-up as well as all the pictures. Bien joué!

Well on on updating that set as MOC. The more detailed trees and the roof technique add just enough pop without making the scene too complicated. Using those boxes as a display base is interesting.

Very spooky! Great MOC. I like all the techniques you used for the 'floating' parts as well as good camera work to minimize the clear parts' visibility.

I like all the details you put in, like the coins and the target.

I found a new castle ideas: The Gate Tower by Albrick: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84e8e363-64e5-49bd-8e32-d8fb64a7af7e Great points. "Stuff on the Shelf" genre is especially prevalent in approved ideas choices.- 532 replies

(MOC) Chateau de Morgana (Abandoned)

First, it looks like you are off to a great start! I'm working on a large scene as well and it is going too slow! You've already chosen a general style for what you've been building at it looks good. I really like what is going on in this image: I would certainly focus on the landscaping and paths (there are some pictures where this is done well, others that look like you have work to do). The amount of elevation changes you are incorporating into the MOC will really make it pop, especially once much of it is covered in foliage. The round walls look great, but do appear more 'complicated' or run down than the flat walls. I don't think there is anything wrong with this, but you could put more 1x1 round bricks (and plates) into the straight walls to even out the texture. The dark bley corner of your tower (in the image above) looks a bit flat. Having 1x2 tiles sticking out would look a bit better, IMO. You use the same technique with the white an tan, and for some reason, I like it better on the white and tan as you have it. Will all the water look like (or similar to) what you have shown in the image above? I hope so, it looks nice and you made a good transition from land to water. I like your roof style. I'm not a big fan of the 1x tile cross bars in your tutor building (below). Many people have done this, so this is likely just me being picky. Finding an alternative technique is almost impossible without redoing a bunch (or using wall techniques that appear much more 'crumbly'. In this situation, I'd just remove the diagonal beams. The house itself looks great. I'd use brick/plate built doors, but the black ones fit well. I like everything in the image with stained glass (below). The ivy climbing the walls and the landscaping on the ground is great. I would cover some of those exposed 'open' studs with tiles or vegetation to match your other walls. I cannot wait to see this all done and together! I'm not sure how much rebuilding you want to do (if none, I completely understand, disregard those suggestions). Others have responding to how to post pictures, what I do is right click on the image, select "copy image address" and paste. The Eurobricks editor will automatically insert the image for you (assuming the source is on a secure website: https). For flickr, I go to 'download', choose 'all sizes' click on the size I want, then right click that image. p.s. cool space ships in the background of some of your images. -
Great take on this classic set. I did not recognize it until I read your description. I like the style you chose and your focus on the landscaping as much as the building itself. The building and the area (swamp?) it inhabits go well together.
-
Great execution on this idea. The style fits your scale well and is consistent.
-
Great Halloween build! I'd love to have this as a decoration at my house.
-
¡Creación fantástica! Everything looks great. I am surprised how big the MOC is; the stables are certainly fitting for the horses of the Rohirrim. The barrels as corner posts are fitting. The trees, vegetation and groundwork bring it all together.

Lego Ideas Support Thread - Historical/Castle
jtooker replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
If you look at most 'themes', I'd say that is probable, but the one exception is space, specifically models of real space objects. I think that 'theme' is special since LEGO can sell those models to many non-LEGO people; more-so than they could sell a castle set, even one that looks realistic. But I hope I'm wrong and LEGO does release more castle sets (ideas or other). Seeing so many get over the 10k threshold is exciting. Speaking of, anyone have guesses on when the Blacksmith set will be ready for sale? My guess is in January 2021 when TLG releases all their post-holiday sets.- 532 replies

Wow! This is a wonderful collaboration! I love how there are details throughout the whole MOC. And good job on getting a uniform look from all the builders; it is very cohesive.
-
Great castle! I like the moat and the tower, especially the back with the foliage.
-
Hmm, I like the tar concept, but after hearing that pun, I may stick with oil...

This is a lovely MOC. I like the style you used - it looks like it could be an official AFOL set as it is not too complicated but is not as simple as the classic castles. It would fit in well with #10193 Medieval Market Village.
