  1. No. I tried to think of a back-story for the MOC, but also thought leaving that to the viewer's imagination might be better. I created it for LOLUG's September member's meeting challenge. The topic/prompt was "Forged in Fire".

  3. Very nice colors. I like the white scarf thing hanging from the top right post.
  4. I'm glad the 'speed lines' looked good I'm happy with how the buildings turned out, but you're right, it is a fair amount of work, but in this case, I only had to do the facade, so overall it wasn't too bad. I'm glad you enjoy the buildings - it was my first attempt at this style. I wanted to experiment with what a typical Kaliphlinian street would look like. The streets in other MOCs sometimes blend into the buildings (too much tan) or are too gray. While building, I worried that it was too colorful, but struck with it for this MOC to see how it turned out and to get feedback. I appreciate your criticism.
  5. I love the build! What a great size and an appropriate amount of detail on the castle. The stonework is my favorite part, it is interesting without being too cluttered/worn down. The design of the merlons is great. The castle fits in quite well with the mote moat, town buildings and trees you've put around it. If this is just the WIP, I cannot wait to see your finished creation!
  6. Great stone technique! That is a fun build. Thank you for making the video too, it was interesting to see the MOC's creation.
  7. I love the color scheme, especially the olive green and dark tan plaster/brick wall but also the band of dark red and orange on the lower pillars. The whole scene is cohesive - I can imagine myself on that street. NPU on the (bird?) cage with the wands. I am jealous of your Kaliphlinian minifigures! I found out I do not have many desert themed figs after I joined Kaliphlin. My only critique is that I would have liked to see a deeper building - the under-the-arch area seems a bit large for what is above it, having something for the first floor (and a larger second floor) would give additional literal and figurative depth to the scene.
  8. Very nice cornice design; it has just enough color. You are certainly putting those tan ingots to good use!
  9. Great scene! Thank you for sharing pictures.
  10. I've got a question for @Henjin_Quilones / @Rogue Angel / moderators: one of my MOCs is miles away from my settlement but is linked to it, should I list that location in my settlement post? Specifically, the Buğra Quarry is miles up the road from my Batuhan settlement, but does supply the stone for it.
  11. This is an amazing MOC. The details of your creation are incredible; they capture the Dragon Masters theme. The tower, especially the roof, stand out. The color choice of the shingles and the shape of the roof are terrific. They really go well with the darker castle walls. I've been wanting to build a castle with darker stone. All, or even mostly, dark-bley is too much. The balance you've struck in this MOC is just right. I'll keep your MOC in mind when I want this shade of stone wall. The details in the mechanical/sculpture dragon head fit well too. The rounded 1x2 plates align the teeth perfectly. Thank you for sharing your creation!
  12. Thank you! Thank you! I'm glad you like it so much, your complements certainly made the work I put into the MOC feel worth it. I was hoping the size of the MOC would be enough - it certainly felt bigger while build while building it, but smaller once I started posing figs and taking pictures. Thank you! I had fun with the crane.
  13. This is a council of Elrond insert for the 21315 Pop-Up Book from the book Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I created it for LOLUG's August member's competition where the theme was a scene from your favorite book. Website | Flickr | YouTube
  14. Awesome MOC and great rendering. Have you done any other HoMM creations? I was happily surprised to see this was not just a regular dungeon, but the Dungeon Castle from HoMM3! It was instantly recognizable.
  15. The colors are great, especially in the doorway. The trees on either side of the stairs are just the right size. Great Kaliphlinian MOC!
  16. Great details in this small MOC.
  17. Some inspiration, art by Rodolphe Ernst: https://artvee.com/artist/rudolf-ernst/ Example: "The Fountain Of Ahmed Iii, Istanbul (1892)"
  18. Interesting jungle trees by Toltomeja
  19. Welcome to Kaliphlin @ridgekitten!
  20. I submit the following MOCs for two credits: Another Normal Day for Nikou the Thief General Building → minifig posing Anthropology → life in Kaliphlin
  21. A gang of thieves chases Nikou upon discovering her theft of an emerald gem. She leads them into a busy market square where she finds herself trapped between the gang on one side and the town guard on the other. Scaling a statue at the center of the square gives her brief reprieve from her would-be captors. As the walls close in around her, Nikou makes an acrobatic leap over the head of one of the guards leaving the gang and the guards to sort themselves out. This was going to be the second of three scenes for the Just Another "Normal" Day category of the Summer Joust competition, but my partner was unable to complete their portions. Though not mentioned in the story, it takes place in Petraea. I am also submitting this for the Doctorate of Historica for the following two qualifications: General Building → minifig posing Anthropology → life in Kaliphlin
  22. Eallesborough Keep has guarded the forest at the base of the mountain since time immemorial. This micro MOC is my fourth entry into the Summer Joust into the "Puristic Parts" category uses only basic bricks and plates. Website | Flickr | YouTube
  23. Thanks! That was my goal. Since the rock was carved rather than natural, I tried for a flatter look, while not being perfectly flat. I agree, this category has been much more interesting than I first imagined - it is quite competitive. Thank you!
  24. I submit the following three MOCs for credit: Pizza to Go Architecture → walls #1 (Tudor) Rhalyf in the Frozen North Landscape Design → Snow and Ice Buğra Quarry Landscape Design → Studs up rocks and cliffs
  25. Mining in Buğra Quarry has been busy since filling the collapsed tunnel. The dwarves are behind in filling quotas for the villages and settlements to the south, especially the wall at Batuhan. The pay is incomparable and has brought workers from across the continent. The Buğra Quarry is my third entry into the Summer Joust 2020 contest as well as LOLUG’s July contest. The theme for both was “tri-color”. The MOC came out a bit larger than I had anticipated. It has at between 8,000 and 10,000 pieces. It felt a bit like I was just spraying down parts at some points while trying to keep the rockwork varied and interesting. I had been planning a quarry MOC for a few months as a source for all the stone used in an ongoing MOC. You can see a preview of it here and here; I am working on expanding it and will post pictures on my website when I get it done. I’m also submitting this MOC for review in the University of Petraeas Doctorate of Historica Program under the following category: Landscape Design → Studs up rocks and cliffs Website | Flickr | YouTube
