CDC2 Ancient Wonders: Standing Stones Swap Meet
jtooker replied to Eyrezer's topic in Guilds of Historica
I love the lore you've set up to go with this piece. The grent's and their relationship with this part of the world is terrific. All the mushrooms are inventive. Great job pulling me into the scene. The MOC does a great job filling in any details my imagination might require.- 9 replies

The Kaliphlin figs are my favorite - they are all so terrific! Especially the scales of the trader. But the cloak and hourglass of the Barqan astrologer are very fitting. I'll have to remember your Petraean swordsman in case I need to make knights for the capitol. Your other figs are also fitting for their guilds - I'm impressed at how natural they all belong. I particularly like Algus warrior, but all are superb.

The grail knight looks grand! I love the evil and powerful look of the genie. The accessories of the dark which are awesome, both the tentacles coming out of the page and the candle techniques. The wooden pillar with Winged Hussars is great. Great job all around!
-
The elf <-> dwarf are great! The vanished made me chuckle. These are all fun - great job.

Awesome MOC! I love your brick-built (tile-built?) banners. I need to remember these techniques! Your roof shingle technique is simple but looks nice. I love how well the MOC came together in back. My only critique would be how choppy the seam is on the door and stairs, but I'm glad you attempted such angles - it gives great character to the MOC.

I like all the greens of the Avalonian Knight (very fitting for that guild). The Nocturnus snake teacher is fun. The Varlyrian figs seem especially well matched to that guild.

CDC2 Ancient Wonders - Bridge of Gods - Kaliphlin

Its great seeing all the Kaliphlin (and Kaligem era) MOCs! Great job showing the decay of time on the stone - that is always harder to do than pristine stonework. Your water technique looks great here. -
The abacus is awesome! I like Anvom, Mitgardian Houndmaster but cannot pinpoint why. Mountain Mummy Hydro Mage is terrifying - well done! Great set of figs overall.

CDC2 Ancient Wonders : The Forgotten entrance of Kaligem
jtooker replied to Servertijd's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautiful job! I enjoyed seeing the progress pictures. The final result is spectacular. The size feels appropriate and the minifigures really set the scale. The way both the lighting and the sand spills into the room achieves a great effect. The stonework (on the floor and walls) is my favorite part. -
Fun theme - and very timely for the real-world (Halloween). Mixing 'fact and fiction' is a fun way to present these supernatural figs. I'll have to remember to use a Djinn in a future Kaliphlin MOC. The ice elemental is terrific. The enchanted pumpkin does stretch believability, but is the most fun figure! Overall, great variety.

Awesome royalty + soldier figs! The mounts are quite exotic, but fun. -
CDC2 Ancient Wonders: Sulla Tigre di Illaryian (Collab: Part I)

Awesome concept and excellent execution. The two-toned stone was a great idea and gives depth to the tiger. I really like the dark-tan walls with white accents - it works very well here. I need to come back and read the story in detail. -
Great story and wonderful MOCs to accompany it. The roof pattern is a nice technique and the many irregular plates form a believable shoreline.

Thank you everyone for your supportive comments and feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the baseplates - once I had that idea, I knew I had to submit an entry! I enjoy the old skeleton arms too - this was a good excuse to use one It is an iron made out of a flipper. I thought the tree was a bit on the large side for an accessory, but enjoyed it too much to leave it off. I searched a while for a piece to hold the ice, I'm glad I found the one I did, everything else I tried did not work as well. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the guild stands. Awesome, I enjoyed those two as well The gardener was a last minute addition, but I'm very happy with how she turned out (so much so, I put her as the thumbnail for it on my blog post). There should be a Bernie Sanders response... something, something ninety nine per-CENT of Historica... I'm glad you enjoyed them! I always wish they were better represented in official Medieval LEGO sets too. Thank you! It was hard not to put in a neon-orange chainsaw. -
Wonderful figs! Quickroot is my favorite, but all the centaurs are fun. The glasses for the distilled spirits might be my favorite accessory - thought Kan Tork's campfire is neat (I've been searching for the best campfire build and this one is one of the best I've seen).

The scale of this MOC is quite impressive - especially the stone statues. My favorite part is the decorative stonework on either side of the doors (and the walls in general). -
Terrific colors! The interior and accompanying story really elevate the MOC! The stonework around the stairs and the garden flowers might be my favorite parts.
-
The centaurs are awesome. I love the bold colors you've used in each figure, especially with Cobold McTavish.
-
Awesome figs and accessories - I like the balance between the two. The cloth with the Seamstress is terrific and the goats with the Extravagant Fop clearly highlights his wealth. The wizard is cute.
-
Wonderful colors! The muted color of the ground and grass works well with the leaves (both on and off the trees). The pictures with the edited-in sky work well too. The wings are terrific and the curved steps work well around the fountain. The story was engaging and brought your scene to life!
-
Excellent variety of figures! I like the Water-bearer best - great posing.

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Create a "sig fig" and make a post in one of the four active guilds announcing that you've joined. Check out Section "1.1 Choosing a Signature Figure" in the New Member's Guide. -
Every bit of it! Big picture - it is framed wonderfully with the tallest buildings in back sloping down to the waterfront. The wooden dock is well done and chaotic - good use of the a-frame pieces. You've also done a great job squeezing in details without making the scene too busy - I'm sure the large size helps in this respect - I'd really love to see it in person. The lanterns are novel and tie the different buildings together, alone with the same rough stone and roof techniques.

First, I love the map! Overall, the scale and level of detail is terrific! Each area of the MOC is special and unique - while still being part of a cohesive scene. You've done a great job of blending nature with agriculture - and of course architecture with the wonderful tower in the center. I've looked through the photos several times and keep finding gems - like the door to the tower. The interior really puts this MOC over the top. Very well done!
