CDC2 CMF : Aurore [Scholars & Spellcasters - and some Scammers too]
Aurore replied to Aurore's topic in Guilds of Historica
@Gideon Thank you very much! The theme came rather naturally, as those kind of characters are often my favourite in fantasy fiction. I'd need to make a serie out of my confort zone some time, such as monsters (or just more male characters, as my husband complained) @Frike Thank you so much! The dragon breeder was the first one I made, as soon as I got my hands on that cute little egg... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 22. Rumors and discussion

I agree with the eyes issue. I'd love to see an update of the parrot too : the current parrot mold, with holes as eyes, looks so outdated compared to the gorgeous and detailed HP phoenix! -
@icm right, thank you! I typed too fast (enthusiasm...). I'm going to update my posts, to avoid causing a desilusion to a fellow airhead who would read too fast...

I was casually browsing my insta feed when I stumbled upon the mention of a Creator Expert Creator 3 in 1 Viking Ship for 2022 on promobricks! I don't read german well enough to assess precisely where it stands on a scale from rumor to official fact though - somewhere inbetween as far as I can understand. Ideas or more info, anyone? (That post is a duplicate of the one I just dropped on the Latest impact on historic themes thread, but, oh well, you can never talk too much about vikings right?)

@Frike That's great! So glad for you! The sheep still don't show up as available on B&P here in France, but that means they may be coming soon! -

@W Navarre Thank you very much! Glad you enjoy Torghur's staff, I had a lot of fun designing it (with, indeed, a little bit of voodoo in mind)/ @socalbricks Thank you so much! I was wondering if anyone would notice the "soul face", it's not as noticeable on the photos than in reality...So happy you did! I'm looking forward to your serie too! @zoth33 Thank you very much! The concept of the quotes is inspired by Magic cards, as I've always enjoyed those reading them! @Boindil Lego Thank you very much! Yes, all parts are (real) (and un-modified) LEGO. Most of the torsos come either from Chima, Ninjago or Chinese New Year sets, and I swapped the arms for many of them too - which may not help recognizing them. Don't hesitate to ask if there is one specific one you would like to know more about! -
How great! All of them! I especially enjoy Lord & Lady Motu - story-wise, they have a great potential for funny situations -, and my favourite is the fungus herder. Such an original idea, both for the minifig itself and for his background! And he has a nice scarf. The photo of Gorki is precious too : perfect minifig and crab posing and perfect choice of expression!

Woohoo, Madam Pomfrey has been announced by Promobricks in one of the 2022 Harry Potter sets! We'll most probably get a new headdress that would be perfect for female medieval minifigs. -

@Frike The white hairpiece is from Monkie Kid "Bone Demon" set (80028). I'm also glad they made the stable doors in more subdued colours than the original pink and lavenders! -

@jtooker Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoy the photos - and the theme too, as I've always have a special fondness for those kind of characters in fantasy fiction. @Robert8 Thank you so much! Given the amazing designs you come up with, I definitely feel honoured by the compliment! @Henjin_Quilones . Just.... @Kai NRG Thank you so much! I'm actually always impressed by TLG when they manage to come up with minifig parts that look so incredibly well with much older ones (such as Chima torsos with very recent HP legs).... Also, I have to confess the embalmer is one of my favourites too. Nocty can have some quirky, sympathetic denizens too! -
Easy and simple, maybe, but they definitely look great! I particularly love the ballista - it has the perfect shape.

Here is my entry for Category 1 of the 2nd count down challenge - Populating Historica. Let me introduce you to some prominent scholars and spellcasters of Historica. And some scammers too... Spoiler sections contain photos of the back of each minifig (without cape for those who wear one). There are external links to Wikipedia where I took inspiration from the real world... Did you really think the Enchanted Forest grows all by itself? - Valtan, elven guide, to an oblivious tourist Avalonia : Angharad, Dragon Breeder Dragon breeding is a matter of hard work, patience, and careful selection. A few recent parts available from B&P and that I find interesting for medieval & fantasy builds : Those parts are mainly from july and august 2021. I'm not that thrilled by the new september sets - not many things for fantasy: the Mandalorian armorer, maybe some printed parts from the HP calendar (such as the Leaky Cauldron flag), and the odd lavender head from Bro Thor's set...but, of course, none of them are available on B&P. We'll see what will be available tomorrow from the Hogwarts icon set! PS : and I'm still waiting for the sheep to show up on B&P too... -
Gorgeous texture on the walls, and excellent photo point of view!
-
How cool! I really like how it looks neat, and yet features an amazint amount of detail: the statuettes, the vegetation and animals (I need those black ducklings!), and the little printed tiles as decor everywhere. The interior looks equally great, very lively.
-
@Jerry McGlade Thank you so much! @Boindil Lego Thank you very much! I have to admit I had a lot of fun with the colours of the first one. @BrickMatit Thank you so much! So glad you felt the chaos I was trying to convey!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 22. Rumors and discussion
Aurore replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh my, finally! A regular CMF series... I certainly hope for at least two figures with animals, such as a shepherd(ess) and someone with a baby crocodile - with normal eyes. -
Absolutely amazing! I love how detailed the interior is, and how classy that viper sign above the door looks.

How wow, really beautiful. The Tiger's Nest temple is instantly recognisable. I especially like how you shaped the roof in LEGO form, they do look perfect!- 10 replies

CDC2 Ancient Wonders: Tōrō Nagashi
Aurore replied to Louis of Nutwood's topic in Guilds of Historica
Oh my, you've really outdone yourself with the snow and rock texture. I've always admired the way you build them, and this is no exception. The occasional slightly yellowed white brick is genius. As for the temple itself, I really think its sober and elegant architecture and subdued colour palette suit the mood of the story. Same for the global composition of the main build, with the tall tree echoing the pagoda. By the way, great idea to make two separate builds for this story too: it really helps picturing Toro Nagashi in a spiritual plane rather than a physical one. -
@mrcp6d Thank you so much! Elgwi's colour palette came to my mind thanks to the new magenta Dumbledore minifig. I've always enjoyed dark purple, but had never used magenta before! @Kai NRG Thank you very much! I'm especially glad you enjoy the sign post, since I had so much fun designing it. As for the letter...we'll learn more about it in the next episode, I've finally found a way of integrating the CDC2 theme in the general storyline I had in mind! @Grover Thank you very much! I've been collecting special parts with a "magical" flair for a while now, it was time I actually build something with them! I have quite a lot with a more "science" flair too, maybe I should build a lab for Alrune or Sigrid (or both?) someday. As for the photos, at least part of the credit shall go to the lens I used. I had completely forgotten about it before packing it when we moved house, and I'm so glad I have found it again! @zoth33 Thank you so much! Now that you've said it...I won't be able to look at Evrart's minifig without thinking of Jamie too! @NOD Thank you very much! It really was a lot of fun to gather the parts for the Curiosities shop. @romulan Thank you very much! Photography was one of my main hobbies a while ago, and I'm re-discovering it thanks to LEGO. @socalbricks Thank you so much! I see the crocodile is very popular... As for the CDC2, I hope my build will be ready in time, I'm currently struggling to get it right!
