  1. A sepoy's house on the outskirts of Jameston, medium residence
  2. As Angad approached his brother's home on the outskirts of Jameston, both his brother and his brother's wife waved from across the small foot bridge that spanned the creek. Chickens pecked at scratch grain and then they too looked at the approaching soldier. Angad was on a brief leave from his post as an ETTC Sepoy, and as he didn't have a place of his own, was coming to stay with his brother's family. His sister-in-law loved everything blue, and his brother had built pieces of lapis lazuli into the walls of the house to remind her of his love. -------------------------------------- I wanted to try out a new 32x tan baseplate and red turban I got in a recent BnP order. Also wanted to try inverting the water and building colors. Licensed as a medium residence in Jameston.
  3. New recruits rescue a cannon stuck in the mud
  4. No sooner had the group of new recruits at Fort Stockton received their gray trainee uniforms than their drill sergeant received word that a field gun had broken its limber. The gun was being transported along the coast and had fallen into some mud when its carriage broke. The recruits headed out to begin what turned out to be five hours of hard work necessary to free the gun. A troop raising build for Wullham
  5. Looks great! Nice work @A_Goodman I've been eyeing those minifigs too and they look awesome here. The deconstructed wagon looks legit - often they will look massive compared to the minfigs and yours seems reasonably sized The horse rearing up is epic. Good wall textures too
  6. Thanks! This and the Islander pot one are quickies I knocked out while some longer ones for BoBS are ongoing. This is the closest Ive come to a ball, but its smaller like a soiree
  7. Have more in store for him
  8. To go to the ball or stay in and stargaze?
  9. Thanks for the tip. Mine is coming in the mail tomorrow!
  10. Thanks @NOD My main reason for this build was to try out some new 1x2 sand blue plates and to see what colors they work well with Thanks - yeah while I was doing the round base with regular 1x2 plates for the trade road build I kept thinking there must be something fun that could be done with round 1x2 plates. I don't think this round 1x2 plate base looks quite as cool, but certainly easier to work with and easier to make something small
  11. G'teyr had been having a great morning. As dawn had broken in the village, he had set out for some spearfishing with his brother. Rutra had made eye contact and smiled at him when they passed her hut! He would make that woman his wife, he was sure of it. As they neared the shallow cove where he knew they would secure a fine catch, he saw something black on the sand ahead. A month earlier a strange ship had broken up far out to the horizon and ever since strange objects had been washing ashore. He thought to himself: This will make a good pot. ------------------------------- Colors used for base gradient: Sand Blue, Bright Light Blue, Medium Blue, Medium Nougat, Nougat, Sand Green, Dark Green
  12. Yeah Duplos connect! Duplos have an open stud so 2x2, 2x4, 2x6, 2x8 regular bricks connect right on top of them snugly and securely. 2x1, 2x3 LEGO don't fit, though. One of the best things about Duplo is that the colors are a 100% match for system bricks. A Duplo plate is the same height as a system brick.
  13. That's the one! Also in the BTS shots for this one: I can also imagine Duplos being used in a visible way if there was some forced perspective used... like a Duplo mountain in the distance out of a LEGO window This build also has some Duplo in the background (a castle gate, bridge, and brick-built sky):
  14. Interested to try a larger build with Duplo visible! Some of my larger LEGO-visible builds have tons of Duplo underneath (See BTS shots for Fort Stockton: Thanks! Nice build! The water colors I used are medium azure under trans clear and trans light blue tiles. Wanted to give even the clear water a slight greeny tinge. Experimenting now with including other azures, turquoises, and sand/dark blues in water. The ground is medium nougat with some regular nougat on top. I haven't found any regular nougat tiles yet, but will play with those when I do! The tower yellows are regular yellow and some bright light yellow. The profile bricks are not official from AliE. Wish TLG would make those colors!
  15. Thanks @NOD! Thanks! Would love to see what you come up with Thanks! This one started as a chance to build a classic white / yellow tower and I was going to post this one to Pirate MOCs forum because I felt bad for all the Duplo builds I'm subjecting @Mister Phes to, but decided it could fit the BoBS challenge IV description enough to post here
  16. Nice work @CapOnBOBS! Your use of the 1x1 round plates for groundcover really works! I think I'm going to have to try that out
  17. Welcome @omnihash_cz! Nice intro builds!
  18. Looks great @Russel! This build deserves its own post, I think - would you be up for making a separate post to showcase it? Worried it will be buried in this thread
  19. Franz Koran saw an opportunity and took it. With the war in Terraversa over, the city of Tanari on the western coast was located away from Oldis' tax collectors in King's Port, the Eslandolan trade barons in Pamu, the strict rule of law in the Oleon territories and Corrington's orderly influence in Westface. He and his crew claimed a small rocky island in Tanari cove and built a tower. From the tower, they could quickly unload goods from ships and then row them ashore - tax free of course. He specialized in the finer goods: books, sherries, scented candles, rum. The luxuries went for a pretty penny once they reached the island. When he saw a ship approaching, he would fire his flintlock pistol into the air and wait to hear the correct countersignal. Koran kept a stash of Terraversa, Oleonese, and Corlander flags at the ready in case some sort of authority showed up and they needed to appear legitimate. ---- OOC: My submission for CH IV - CAT F: Smugglers Den. Wanted to try making an island that didn't have any tan or dark tan! Didn't have any wedge plates in nougat, so used quarter round tiles. Also experimented with a stepped SNOT base for the tower.
  20. Hi all - I've long admired @henrysunset's sorting labels and played around with creating some labels that I could print out to 8.5x11 sheets of Avery label paper. I wanted to include color on the labels as well as the color names I am most familiar with. My storage system is to sort by piece into large divided tupperwares, and then sort by color in polybags within the tupperware. I do this for a number of reasons, but primarily so that my collection is portable and I can build in multiple rooms. I've found that applying the Avery labels to the top of the polybags makes it so I can easily grab the right color of the right piece at a glance (see pics). Has anyone else done this before? I'd love to see your results. Here are some examples from 3023 / 1x2 plates Adobe Illustrator source file: https://www.evancrouch.com/files/LegoLabels-plates.ai
  21. Thanks! Yeah the base and the trees were the main new things I wanted to try in this build Thanks! Looking forward to seeing your build! I'm excited to use nougat in more circumstances, and to continue changing out what would normally be dark tan with olive green. Thanks! Thanks! I had my sons helps me connect all of the black 1x2 plates and modified tiles in the base. They were super impressed when it turned into a circle! I think it came out to a little fewer than 400 pieces in the border... didn't want to make the base any larger because of the challenge size requirements Thanks! I'm interested in using the circular base technique within a future build as an architectural element... we'll see! Thanks! Yeah, when I placed the road in the middle that left a significant portion of the foreground to either be populated or left sparse. Because I wanted to portray an empty landscape (and to leave the background visible!) the foreground is pretty blank. The trees were fun to do, especially that strange technic pin splitter on the right tree that is connected to the dino tails. Using friction pins it allowed for some weird sturdy tilting of the tree for an unusual angle. I have some other weird reddish brown technic pieces I'll try to throw on some future trees.
  22. Glorious gothic architecture! Really well done. The underground sections are super fun, and I think you accomplished adding some complexity to the story of the (potentially?) missing quiver
