(build above from earlier post Unto The Breach!) -------------------------------- The 12-pounder had blown the gate doors right off their hinges, sending them flying inward toward the town of Aurelia. As the roar of the cannon blast faded and the smoke began to clear, Captain Hunter heard shouts of "Arrêtez ! Attendez !" from the far side of the town wall. Hunter, a Naval Intelligence Officer, traded in intelligence and was well-versed in Oleonese. When he next heard an Olander yell "Paix!" he took pause and ordered the Red Sons and Ténotclaxcan warriors to hold back. Clearing his throat, Hunter shouted out, "I say old chap, did you say peace?". He followed up in Oleonese, conscious of his Corlander accent: "Je dis mon vieux, tu as dit paix?" "Yes, monsieur, word has reached us this morning that there is peace between Oleon and Corrington. A ship has arrived with news from Terraversa. We have a copy of the treaty." Taking stock of the situation, Captain Hunter reasoned he and his men had been traveling across the interior of Annetta and could very well be in the dark when it came to news of current events. "You say you have a copy of the treaty - well bring it here man!". Once the Oleander complied, Hunter reviewed the document and noted the spot on Royal Seal of Corrington next to the signature of one Montoya. "This my fine sirs does look to be the genuine article. It seems we've caused a bit of mess with your gate here. May I propose we lend a hand and help you re-door this here gate?" As the redcoats went about helping the bluecoats re-door the gate, the Ténotclaxcan warriors looked on in disgust. Soon, the natives had melted back into the jungle. ( @Faladrin ) Captain Hunter negotiated with the Oleander captain for the night's lodging before they would begin the trek back to Port Raleigh in the morning. OOC: Corrington hereby calls off the attack on Aurelia and troops are returned to their points of origin

Thanks! I designed the build from the side (rotated 90 degrees from photo view) and the flying dirt was made with that in mind. Glad some of it is still visible in the photos I chose to use. The 90-degree rotated view photos looked better for the flying dirt, but I'd rather see Brickleton's face! Cool! Hadn't seen that (I rarely see anything outside of the pirates theme, though my horizons are broadening now that I'm on Flickr). I think if builders can get viewers to accept that clear pieces mean there is nothing there, a lot of creative concepts can be explored. I love seeing the builds people make that feature ocean floor and water surface at different heights using clear pieces. As that "The Sea Rat" MOC makes the rounds of social media one of the recurring comments from people is "whoa it's so cool that the little thought bubbles lead up to the dream", which means they took the leap of faith! Thanks! I had 45 minutes and knew I wouldn't have time for a larger base. But I did have time to grab some more unusual pieces (inverted rounds, rounded 1x2s, ground-colored jumpers, whole variety of plants, etc) to spice it up! Here's hoping Brickleton makes it to Col Allcock in time!

Some nice mini-ship designs @Maxim I! Haha since I do my builds on a coffee table rather than a dedicated build space, I always forget to account for 10 minutes of post-build cleanup time. "I'm just finishing up! I'll be up in 5 minutes" = 15 or 20 minutes later

[LEGO IDEAS] "Fortress of Hunyadi" by Zsolti (@MyFirstMoc)
evancelt replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
Great color scheme w/ the tan/dark-red/reddish-brown and the tan w/ interspersed masonry profile bricks adds an understated distressed look. Cool greencoat torso design and nice blue shakos! Good mix of tiled and studded surfaces - the studded surfaces will make it much more playable than some MOCs we see -
A few ideas I've seen around the internet: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36db9412-f561-435b-a582-42f875d8e9a3 https://ideas.lego.com/projects/65003b40-3d70-4167-923c-e103cc51920d some more i found in the Pirate MOCs subforume

The Second Terraversan War - Submissions Thread

After watching with growing impatience as the group drafted seven copies of the agreement before sequentially signing each copy, Captain Brickleton finally received a signed copy. He then quickly mounted his freshly saddled horse and began the journey south at a gallop.
-
With a copy of the signed treaty calling for cessation of all hostilities in hand, Captain Brickleton thundered southward on his horse, throwing pebbles and rocks up in his wake. The Terraversans of Pamu, from whom he has been lent the horse, claimed it was the fastest mount available - and as Brickleton galloped at full speed for hours on end this appeared to bear fruit. He would seek out Colonel Allcock and attempt to stop Corrington's assault on Tarlor before it was too late ( @Ayrlego ). OOC:

Such intricate details! Awesome job @Piraten! -
Fun build, @Maxim I! The 1x white plate works really well as surf. Nice minifig combos, too. Interesting to see the underside of the palm leaves Did you make the green torsos in your digital designer or touch it up afterward?

Super cool @Fraunces! I tried to turn my featured builds into that sort of masonry grid / scrapbook on a website - you can view it here: https://evancelt.corrington.club/ . My signature links there too. When you click on the images it displays a large version with a link to the build thread. If you'd like me to set up something similar for you (e.g., fraunces.corrington.club) that you can keep updated, let me know! Happy to set it up / host it for free EDIT: That corrington.club domain is something I set up for Corrington folks to host their images for posting on BoBs and a handful of players are using it for that purpose. If other BoBs players don't mind it mentioning Corrington, happy to offer it up to them as well. Just send me a PM -

[ESL-TROOP RAISING] Stedor Dragoons on tour
evancelt replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There is a 3rd party company called Crazy Bricks that makes an accessory called CrazyArms. They allow for bent and straight minifig arms. I've used them here in this MOC with redcoats. Yours looks great without the cheating 3rd party arms I used -

Cool looking minifigs! Is that a crazy arm featured in the foreground of the 2nd image? -
Thanks! Yup, the olive green plates are meant to be moss. When offsetting those pentagonal shield pieces there is a 1x2 stud gap created at each end and rather than putting some lt bley tiles in there I thought it could be fun to put some olive green to represent moss. TLG doesn't make 1x1 or 1x2 olive green tiles, so I went with a plate. Wullham is a wet place, so even though the inn owners do a good job keeping their whitewash maintained, some moss grows on the roof now and then! I only have lt bley pentagonal shields. Sand green / blue ones could be fun to buy in the future to add entire shields that are discolored due to the elements / moss. I've got a bunch of those wrought iron gate pieces - could be fun to build a similar but much longer fence in the future

Thanks! Yeah the stream was fun to put together - included lime, bright green, bright light blue, and medium blue under the medium blue trans tiles. Two frogs on the banks! The bridge was fun to build, threw together some clips, bars, and round bricks and then just lay it on top. The tree is connected together with a flexi-hose inside. I approached the building with all sorts of plans for the ornamentation but then just "wung it" once I got started, adding more and more modified plates as the building got taller. I think it came together in the end. Thanks! I had originally planned to use cheese slopes for the slate roof like on the Mayor's House, but that would have been 26 across x 20 vertical rows = 500+ pieces! I recently stocked up on those pieces, but that sounded too time intensive last night when I was building this out (the light was at the end of the tunnel!) so I went with shields instead - luckily had enough of those.

[OL - Claim] Thin Crust Geological Survey
evancelt replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fun colorful build, @CapOnBOBS! I like the two-tiered cross-sectional view The last pic with bent tree and the minifig connected to it with a string initially reminded me of cartoons where somebody gets catapulted across a jungle by a snare trap
