  1. Thanks guys! The forced perspective is a little cheat-y. I first took a picture of the island and then put it up on a computer monitor. Then I set the ship section in front of the monitor Here is a square crop of the first photo that I shared on Instagram. We lose the sailor on the right and the little bit of curvature in the beach, but it does a better job of hiding that the ship ends abruptly!
  2. The call of "Land Ho!" had come from the crow's nest thirty minutes earlier - they were nearing El Oleonda. As they approached the wild-looking island, Post-Captain Rittenhouse consulted a map and said, "We're just to the west of Fort Arltrees, Sir Jonathan. I'll signal to the rest of the fleet to keep farther to sea as we round the next headland." "Very good! Corporal Yeoman, head belowdecks and let the 26th Foot know our long voyage is nearing its end! Soon enough we'll bring the fight to the Lotii!", Brickleton replied.
  3. I haven't had timeout issues on a desktop, but I do for sure research the item numbers beforehand - makes it way easier. I keep a Google sheet with my wanted list and their IDs as it adds up to many months' worth of LEGO budget! Here is my current wish list: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cytvzxwkyu0j8xw/Screen Shot 2022-01-12 at 3.11.09 PM.png?dl=0
  4. Oh yeah definitely. I do it by going to lego.com and then clicking support --> buy replacement parts. You can then search by set # and find all of the parts in that set to order from the website. This green torso is from the new hotel set.
  5. I like the slight sloping roof on the stable. Fun house and cart designs! What's going on with the overlapping round gray tiles in the first pic? Is the driveway two-tiered or is there a rivulet in the path?
  6. Thanks! Ayrlego is working on one now too and I think it expands on this big log technique really well to add some more realistic textures Yes it's 2x the ninjago white snake. I like that it looks pretty smokey-wispy. I've seen it used this way a few times around on Flickr, so definitely not my original idea. Yeah the black border definitely doesn't sit in the landscape the same way the SNOT edge does, but I think it gives the whole build a more artistic final look Thanks! Yeah I definitely like the 2x logs better than my first experimentation (when I first got started in BoBs) with 1x logs
  7. Great job. Nice bright colors! I second Ayrlego that the SNOT roof side slopes are really ingenious!
  8. Thanks guys! Yeah they fit pretty well! It's a little annoying that the window frame is slightly thicker on one side, but so be it! Thanks! Yes please do copy if you want. It's a fun way to give figs gray sleeping rolls. I've just noticed in the detail shot that the 1x1 round plate facing this way on the roll is non-LEGO (no imprint). GASP! Wonder how that got in there Yes please do! The bottom four logs on the front are connected to the door frame with SNOT bricks, but that top one is held in place from the ends - there are 2x4 plates on either end that go back behind the log and I've connected to them back there with hinges. Wouldn't look good for an interior, but worked well for a facade!
  9. Thanks Nod! Thanks! Once I made the door medium nougat with those plank boards I thought adding some more medium nougat would help balance the overall color - so added to the roof and dog/sack! Originally had lime mixed into the roof, too, but took it out as that was one too many greens! Thanks for the tip on the large leaves. I don't think I have any big normal green ones (just bright green and dark green) but I will get some to try with! Looking forward to your 3rd Cavalry builds
  10. Lieutenant Ferguson of the 3rd Cavalry was on leave from Fort Caine and headed home to his cabin with his dog Hercules. He was pleased to see the hearth fire burning as he approached from the stream bank - his wife must be preparing dinner. He would surprise her. However, as he got closer to the house, he saw a black form scurry behind the cabin. Hercules made chase.
  11. Corporal Ferguson has a run-in with a skunk, medium residence, evancelt
  12. Corporal Ferguson of the Elizabethville militia was on leave from Fort di Legno and headed home to his cabin with his dog Hercules. He was pleased to see the hearth fire burning as he approached from the stream bank - his wife must be preparing dinner. He would surprise her. However, as he got closer to the house, he saw a black form scurry behind the cabin. Hercules made chase. ---------------- OOC: To be licensed as a medium residence in Elizabethville. Ever since my wife got the Santa's Sleigh set at Thanksgiving I've wanted to use the dual molded red boot pants for an Elizabethville militia build
  13. Gorgeous alt build Ayrlego! I love the round windows at the top of the tower and the base complements the tower so nicely. Haha
  14. Happy New Years all! Had a LEGO-y xmas after giving my kids a ton of Classic Castle loose parts. There is a large castle under construction at the moment. Some crazy fires here in Colorado meant we had to evacuate for a while but hopefully back to building soon

  16. Haha thanks! Yes please steal! My latest tree experiment was here (adding brown elements to look more like sticks, tilted leaves, etc)
  17. The legs are called Crazy Legs from a company called CrazyBricks. The kickstarter finished this year and I bet they start selling them on their website soon. They make the funny arms from the MOC too (straight, curved). Some fun leg shapes: Thanks!
  18. I dont want to run into this one on the Brick Seas! Gorgeous
  19. Magnificent!
  20. Those are cool boots! Nice work
  21. I really like the color choices for the building - simple yet elegant!
