  1. Nice start to the story! As others have said, that bedroom is awesome! I also really like the sleeping soldier
  2. Nice job @Spud The Viking! I really like the stately facade on the build and those troops are pretty cool! The water effect on the right with the clear plates is spot on. A for GoC from me!
  3. Nice! The "frontrange" of mountains here in CO dominate the western skyline for me - they are mostly red sandstone. Here are the flatirons last Wednesday following a snowstorm
  4. Thanks! Yeah those clouds are super fun - I saw a build on Flickr where that technique was used to make a whole round cloud around the top of a micro volcano Thanks! Yeah the horses definitely gave me the most difficulty! I tried the hands the other direction and also with the fingers on their side - this was the best of the three options. Also tried mini pins, but this seemed to be the best element size-wise Thanks! Haha thanks! I made the build before thinking up a story to go along with the build, so I'm sure there are some issues with calling it Donner Pass! Haha thanks Thanks! I put my trust in the TLG color palette and used bright light yellow, bright light orange, bright light blue - figured 'bright light' would carry it through Also dark orange, orange, yellow, red mixed in Thanks! It's medium lavender - purple mountain majesty!
  5. After being tasked by Brigadier Howe to establish a new settlement on Arlintina, Colonel Allcock headed east. Upon arrival at the southwest tip of the island, they spotted numerous coral reefs and the captain of the ship cautioned Allcock that moving closer to shore could be treacherous. So Allcock and a small group of soldiers rowed basic supplies to shore and established a camp for the night. One of the first courses of action was flying the red banner of Corrington. ------- A small build to move along @Ayrlego's story where he will set up a new settlement on Arlintina Details of the island:
  6. Here's the link! https://bricknerd.com/home/fake-it-until-you-make-it-an-intro-to-composite-photography-2-18-22
  7. As the first of the wagons headed into the shadows of the Sierras, the wagon train captain shuddered a little to himself. They were a little late in the season to be headed for Donner Pass. His old wound from the Mexican war was acting up and that meant weather.
  8. Just playing around with adding a background to the cutout MOC after reading Brick Nerd's new post on the subject! Looks like JJ Abrams took the photo!
  9. I really like the alternating slopes and plates you used for the crenellations! The ground really looks well worn with tiles on top of plates, where most of the studs are below grade... nice and smooth! Also like the small details like using two 1x tiles on the square container rather than a single 2x. Nice work! Fun idea to build for OL
  10. Haha agreed. Funnily enough the limiting factor on me making a ton of these was I only have a few 1x1 round yellow plates (used as lemons in a MOC last year). Yes, would love to see what you come up with! Not planning to use these in a micro build just now, but maybe in the future! I was also toying with the idea of using black headlight bricks as shakos Black antenna base as a kind of bicorne And the plate with vertical tooth as a kind of redcoat coat
  11. Nice palisade and a fun group of Carnite soldiers! Hope they are inclined to work alongside us!
  12. Nice job on the base! I like the various bley slopes. Do you have a picture of the whole build? Good to see the 26th Foot on the move!
  13. Horse design by vir-a-cocha
  14. Looking good @NOD! Quite a bunch
  15. Thanks! Thanks! I have some of the minifig neck clips coming in dark brown, white, and bleys - should provide for some fun saddles in other colors too (though limited by the colors that clips on 1x1 tiles come in!). I'm interested to see what they find in Seawatch, too! I will likely do another build a little farther along their recon with some suggestions for what they are seeing, but hope to hear from the court definitively. Haha thanks! Thanks! Yes, I love that the dark orange horse let's reddish brown contrast a little bit! I saw there is a new dark green zip line coming out later this year and that should allow for more fun vines Thanks! Like I've mentioned a few times before, the round base is super fast compared to the SNOT-side bases, so using it helps for a quick build! With the fallen log I tried to have the zipline cross near the junction of the two branch parts so they didn't look too top-heavy! With the saddle, ever since I tried that the first time it's looked weird to me to go back to the normal TLG saddle... looks like they are just standing on the horse! Something I need to work through
  16. I agree with Kai that the yellow roof and trees are beautiful - great job! Nice job with the dancing minifig as well!
  17. Really impressive harbor, with fun angles and colors. I like how you approached the waves in the water
  18. Nice mix of greens, @Brickwolf! Also nice mix of round plates/tiles for the cobblestones. Impressive showing for the sepoys! Also good job on the photo & background
  19. Haha it ended up working out - the badge has 3 really strong magnets on the back so that kept it attached and aligned :) I added another row of whiteish wall below the 'Volunteer' brick and ditched the pink flower.
  20. I have extras of the old school horses (the kind where the back legs don't move) that I'd be willing to give away to any interested BoBSers. You just pay shipping from the US! PM me if interested. Nice job with the ground textures (tiles and plates), and those ostriches!
  21. Thanks! The rounded base allows for a much quicker (a few hours total) build than the SNOT-side base Thanks! Yeah the saddle is coming together! Have a few more ideas to try with it Thanks! Yes that new monkey can be hard to pose because of the outstretched arm. Like I mentioned above, I have a few more fun ideas to try with this saddle approach - I think it looks good on the dark orange horse but I need some other color brackets to make it stand out on the reddish brown horse! Yes, Brickleton is in front. Behind him is a trooper of the 18th Hussars, the company who are accompanying him on this recon mission. The hussars normally bring flintlock pistols in addition to their sabers, but opted to also bring muskets this time - can never be too prepared!
  22. Newly promoted Major Brickleton had arrived just days earlier at Fort Arltrees on the island of El Oleonda. With him were multiple companies of 26th Foot and 18th Hussars. After conferring with Colonel Wolf, Brickleton sets out with a company of 18th Hussars toward the Carno settlement of Seawatch. Reports suggest the town is under siege by Lotii forces and Brickleton has orders to confirm the veracity of those reports. While the territory between Fort Arltrees and Seawatch is wild and mostly unexplored, the 18th Hussars, known as "The Lightfoot", are expert horsemen and navigate the terrain with deftness. The group rides silently toward Seawatch, listening for telltale sounds of the enemy but thus far only hearing the occasional monkey in the underbrush. Brickleton wonders to himself what they will find as they approach Seawatch. ------------- OOC: A recon mission to see the status of Seawatch. A closer up detail shot of the continued experiments with brick-built saddles:
  23. Does it convert the original PNG to a JPG when it resizes? That would ditch the transparent background
  24. Thanks for the promotion! Awesome job converting the building into a Port Woodhouse setting - the architecture and vegetation meld really well and create a cohesive scene. The SNOT green on the front of the base does a good job meshing with the vegetation. The mix of green and bright green adds some good depth. Is that a 3-leaf plant sprue vining its way up the pergola? Those green riflemen are pretty cool!
