  1. This is MUCH MUCH MUCH more promising than the 2008 Batman set for $10.00. The vehicle looks like someone took time to design it, but the Batman one looks like . Lego dear Lego, where is the quality for Batman??!?! I really like the new cyborg arm, and the propellers on that thing : ), it is a really promising line although I would get rid of all those bionicle pieces.
  2. I have not been on here for a LONG TIME, due to grad. school. Please Please if any has info, can you please tell me if LEGO decided to release a Dwarves only set (battle pack) or a set with lots of dwarves (besides the billion dollar chess set). Thanks alll!!! I've been waiting all year.
  3. "(e) Central turret thing This thing is kind of annoying and doesn't really sit or work well. It's kind of like a laser beam sending messages to space, I guess." Actually it may be legitimate in a sense. My major is in Chinese so this may be out of my field. However, during my days in middle school, I did remember reading about some rumor alleging Quetzalcoatl (Aztec Creator God) to be an alien from space who came one night to blow up the giant Aztec pyramid (forgot the name). When the Spanish conquistadors (led by Hernan Cortez) was there one night, the structure did indeed combust and explode, although it contradicts the technology of explosives they had during that time I guess. You guys can check it up, if you read into the history of the Aztec empire and Cortez's expedition, pretty out of this world story but its in the books. How legitimate is the alien explanation? Who knows. But, it ties in with this set in a sense. I hope that helps One more interesting fact, they found an old mechanical clock (made from stone and iron I think) that absolutely contradicts the technology of that time (its in a museum, and was on the discovery channel), which also led to discussions about aliens and what not. I guess the advanced nature of that civilization (or simply our pompous view of the world) relates to why these outer space themes always relate back to that time in history.
  4. Paul, I really enjoyed your review. Dunamis has a nice review of the specific parts but it is SO DARK! I loved how you zoomed out so that we could get the whole picture as well. You should have done this review by itself calling it the 2nd review of the beach house as well as a review of combining both beach houses. I have not seen how it would look like with two combined until I saw this review, it's reminiscent of the new Chinese apartments propping up all over China - uniform and in the same color. I know that you like Green Grocer ( I do as well ) but the yellow beach house is also very pleasant and beautiful for its simplistic style. Now I want to get one, even two :( of these. I want to bbq and have a person up on the third floor as well *sweet* I really like your idea of having floors that could lift off, too. Nicee!!
  5. I am not a bricklink addict (this is what all addicts say) but I feel like one. Why? Because I dropped 50 dollars in two days on Bricklink recently. It got me thinking, how many of us Eurobrick users use Bricklink in a Obssessive Compulsive Way (OCW). I use mine specifically for Town and City pieces as I am attracted to sea animals and the works. What do you guys purchase most of the time on bricklink and how often do you guys use it?
  6. Zoave's idea about the lawn mower repairman and brickchick's idea about the shop keeper + open umbrella are both very good ideas. I like them both because they take minifigs that we already have (repairman and "shop keepers") and simply add new decal designs to them - adding new printed decals means new and more specialized minifigs and not simply a minifig in a new coat or button sleeve. For example, Zoave says a dirty stain on the lawn mower repairman's shirt etc. I would love to see a musician + a violin. Lego should also differentiate between the airport repairmen and the car repairmen. Furthermore, there should be two separate minifigs for the airport oil serviceman and the car oil serviceman. Moreover, there needs to be more security guards/swat team compared to the number of policemen we have. I doubt any AFOL are dying to see more firemen impulse (tons of these impulse sets were left on Target shelves for 99 cents - yes the new ones). Finally, separate the mail carriers from those working in the back with the boxes (perhaps red shirts versus brown ones). The bottom line is that Lego could do a lot with what they already have, they simply need to specialize a little more (this would attract the AFOLs). For example, lego already separates the Pilot from the Airport Worker. Now, they just need to do the same with all other themes and more so. There should be at least 5-6 distinct printed patterns for each profession: For example in the repair professions: Electricians, Bike repairman, boat repairman, plane repairman (distinct printed torso not to be mixed with other professions or ambiguous), motorcycle repairman, ATV repairman. If there were separate identities like this, Lego would make a MUCH BIGGER impression in getting people to buy 40 dollar sets that should be priced at 25 or 30 dollars. Imagine there new Transport Line with specialized prints for the Carrier Truck, Carrier Plane etc (instead of using old prints). Sales would rocket, sets are impressive and "NEW" minifigs. Yes they say it's expensive, but it gets consumers buying.... For example, if Lego had some limited edition minifig in a certain set that is rare (comes by once 2-3 years at most like Zoaves's lawn mower repairman or brickchick's bored [add specific shop] keeper), imagine the sales of that specific set. *sweet* repeat this idea on sets they want SOLD, and done, there should be a boost in sales from those who were on the 50/50 or those who have similiar sets already. *sweet*
  7. The reason why those theme parks don't hold all Lego Exclusives (Green Grocer + Cafe Corner ) is because (I think) that TLC sold the license away! On the latest issue of Brick Journal online, Joe Meno does an interview with the CEO of TLC and he said that the Lego Company only has something like 30% of the shares from those theme parks. They sold it for business reasons and who knows if that was a great idea or not but yeah, next time you guys go there, know that not all of the money made from ticket sales will get to Lego. Most of the money goes to all of the other people (whatever company that is) that actually owns Legoland. Shop@home is your safest bet *sweet*
  8. If you go to gamespot.com and type in lego batman/ lego indiana jones you will find videos and tons of pictures. Ign.com will also give the same : ). Enjoy.
  9. Big or small we all love our Legos, and for that I thank you for the review. I would have had liked to see your opinions though, about the price, the playability, or anything else you'd care to share about it and perhaps how it fits with your collection. I've always been hesitant about getting this set because to me I feel like I have it all already, but I'm missing that dog, radar gun and, 50 mph sign :-/
  10. Interesting.. I already have most of it. I guess it is sorta worth just getting more figs? 0_0
  11. Cafe Corner sale for US residents I believe at Amazon.com It is 119.00 USD with Free Shipping. (save $30 bucks) I got mine at Lego Store and returned it. Got it amazon instead. : )
  12. I'm still not convinced that Market Street is worth it. It's essentially 3 cramped floors stacked on top of each other w/o sufficient space for things. Secondly, it has a false basement. Third, GG is a better concept than a bazarre but again those are my biases and opinions. So I'll still be waiting for the 3rd installment : ) of GG and CC type builds. A little note on the side, for any of you who were inspired to get Cafe Corner because of Dunamis's wonderful review, amazon has it for $119.00 USD. I bought mine at the LEGO store because of this Green Grocer review then returned it, and bought it at Amazon (free shipping too)and saved 30 bucks. So if any of you are in the U.S, get em while they last there (cheaper I've seen). (I tried posting it in buy sell trade but it said I was restricted from doing so, don't know why)
  13. After reading the review, I too went out and got Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. I left Market Street alone for now because I dislike the fact that they put the stairs right in the middle of each room. Furthermore, MS looks so <insert that tiresome argument> compared to the work done in CC and GC. In my opinion, they have only come out with two substantial quality sets, and not three as stated in brick journal. I can't wait to see the third installment (4th for some of you) in 2009. Thanks again for the wonderful review Dunamis *sweet*
  14. Can someone say talented? Now that is what I call thinking outside the box. Besides it being a radical idea to use an elephant's head, it looks NICE ! I loveeeee that lil round glass thingy in the back *y* X-D
  15. Yes, the elf drawing is very nice...but can Lego this time around actually sell this product including the minifigure, hair, bow, shield, "indy" bag, and helmet? They left us castle fans in 2007 with a shortage of shields and swords. The negative side of this is that I would have to buy these parts from third party venders instead of from TLG. I hope that TLG would also sell a minifigure parts pack if they intend once again for 2009 to deprive collectors of these accessories. Having said that, I am really glad that elves are coming in 2009 :-) even if they are not "properly" dressed.
  16. Ok the bottom line is that, if they don't come out with (dare I say it) BATTLE PACKS for dwarves or elves I'm going to be seriously sad, and I think most of you guys will be too. I'm pretty certain we're all on the same page when it comes to amassing an army correct? We should constantly put a reminder or have a prominent AFOL member tell TLG that we want battle packs for elves, and dwarves. I personally passed up on Dwarves Mining because it only included 4 figures :-(
  17. I would love military sets (seriously), BUT I don't want little kids thinking that actual war is a great thing. Because I am so anti-killing, I would give up military themed LEGO sets. All for the kiddies :-)
  18. I'm a poor college kid, what am I going to do??? TLG is putting out TOO MANY great sets, there I said it... :'-( My goal for 2008 in terms of LEGO was to get the dwarves Vs Orcs set ($50 USD one). Whyyy Whyyy did they make it so insanely crazy T.T * :'-( CRIES ENDLESSLY :'-( * . Sometimes I feel like LEGO throws in one or two extra bits to raise the prices of their sets $10-$20 USD but this time around........OH GOD NO it actually is a seriously cool set :'-( My dreams are ruined!!! If I want to get my orcs and dwarves in one place, I have to put down at least $150 :'-( oh god no, the price of CHESS SET X 3 !!!!! *cry* :'-( Is this LEGO's way of saying..."nah ar... you want our dwarves and orcs, you pay premium, don't think you're going to get it easily by paying $50". What IF they do a Battle Pack for Dwarves, and a Battle Pack for Orcs, what then? Headache...
  19. I so would have gotten 6 of these knight battlepacks :-) but I have enough crownies for now :-P however if they come out with dwarves......that's another story ;-)
  20. that was a zensible :-( and an enjoyable read :-D
  21. Hey guys, I found several Mario Lego movies on youtube. Some are just so well done while others are plain silly and funny. If you're bored or just curious, check them out, these are some seriously dedicated fans :-D Here is a Donkey Kong Game Lego movie, it brings back sweet :-) memories. And anyone interested in seeing what a Lego Bowser looks like, watch this one :-D . This is the silliest thing I've seen done with a Video game themed Lego creation. Check it out.......it's Kool-Aid man in Lego form racing with "Mario Kart Racers" :-D . Mario Kart Lego Movie. Last but not least, an amazing project done by two people for their school project on youtube using animation to create a Lego themed Mario animation. This must have taken X^n amount of days..... it'd be so cool to actually have some of these figures if they were real :'-)
  22. Now that is what I call a good friend !! Dude I kept on contemplating about getting it but I told myself to wait because last time I bought too many Crownie soldiers, and now they come out with a new torso for them x_x !!! I should have waited so I can get even numbers of old crownie torso and new ones. It's hard as crazy but I am passing up on this set (may be the dumbest thing I've ever done in life). I want the freaking dwarves vs orc chess set darn it!! I'm hoping it'll come true, because all i'm interested in are the orcs and dwarves. We are living the golden age of castle baby :'-)
  23. I love the direction TLG is taking. For such a long time, people have been developing their own MOC's of dwarves, trolls, etc and were hoping for official Lego releases of these. When I saw the downloadable coloring pages for dwarves at lego.com I almost pissed on myself. Just like most of you who are sentimental when it comes to forestmen, wolf pack (I am), you will also feel the same about dwarves, orcs, trolls if you were a kid growing up now with LEGO. The times you guys had with those sets (me included) will always be the main reason for why when you think back you love those sets so much. I think it would be tragic to pass up on such wonderful sets right now because you know what........they most likely will not return. Lego will most definitely come out with new "human" knight factions... .....but how about trolls? Dwarves? Orcs? That's pretty hard.
  24. Is that a new helicopter Hull by any chance? Because when I look at the back of the helicopter, I wonder how can it actually be shaped the way it is shaped... it's so smooth and round. I hope to god it isn't a new hull because I prefer my helicopters brick built. For the small coast guard truck (7737) is there a chance that it's also going to have suspension?? Really can't wait for these sets regardless though *wub*
