Alternate Models Challenge - 60046 Helicopter Surveillance
kinggregus replied to Cara's topic in LEGO Town
This is such a great marketing plan. I never considered buying this set. Now seeing the possibilities that experienced builder come with, I would really like to imitate them. Using the helicopter tail as a sail is such a fantastic idea.- 4 replies

review: LEGO Christmas tale 2013 #4000013

Many thanks for sharing your experience with the community... and you did it with an impressive review. I'll probably never own the set, which means that your review is even more appreciated. -
Hi Andy, this is interesting as right now I am facing a similar situation. However, I know that this momentary and I actually take it very positively. In fact, at this time of the year I work longer hours and as such come back home later. This means that I do not have as much time to dedicate to building. However, I can dedicate some time to make my inventory, purchase bricks on bricklink or ebay, dismantle sets/MOCs and sort all the pieces. I find this aspect about the hobby quite relaxing and interesting as it helps me think about my next MOC. I hope, nonetheless, that I will be able to continue working on my “Grand Casino” soon. . More Generally speaking, if you do not like the sorting aspect, perhaps you could use it as an opportunity to think about the use of each part you sort for a next set?

This is a really good and funny vignette. I like how you used only real Lego parts. You seem also very good at editing your picture so they look amazing! If wonder, if it would not make use a cheese slope at the top of Obelix' belly instead of a flat tile so that his belly looks less square?

Are you a collector, MODer, or MOCer?
kinggregus replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
10 % collector (only the modular houses) 0% MOD 90% MOC I got confused by the term collector, because I found myself now collecting pieces for my next MOCs. -

Material required for selling on eBay
kinggregus replied to kinggregus's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Everyone! Thanks so much for your advises. I will really take all your comments in account. When I start the sale, I really do not want to have the buyer disappointed. I have already purchased all the material found on the BrickPicker site as suggested by AwesomeBantha. -
Thanks a lot! I am really glad you support the idea not to have a roof! Casino have indeed this advantage of not being boring!!!! Well, as Superfunk said.. they are flashy! Interestingly a casino would typically not have windows or clocks so you do not see what time it is. Thanks. The aquarium grew a lot in size as the project was advancing. Initially, I was going for a small one but figured that it'd better be impressive. I had made therefore some bricklink orders to have it completed. Glad you like the stair case. It took me many attempts to have the color and structure right. As the angles go in multiple directions, it was challenging to have a solid build. So do I :) I have a secret though, there is no real water behind the glass. Thanks a lot for your comment. At my rhythm, it will take a long time to complete the build! I plan on doing the back section next, which will include the cashier. Afterwards, I intend to build the first floor which should include a restaurant. I will then complete the build by what may be the most important feature: the facade. At this stage, I have no idea how each sections will be designed. Thanks Two2Seven. I think you are fairly new to this forum. So welcome!!!

Any dark colors in combination with white. I am yet to use the dark blue color but I have not yet found out where/how to use it yet.

Hello fellow Eurobrickers, I am thinking about selling a few pieces of my collection on eBay as I have some duplicate minifigures and set that I do not use at all (eg technic 8258). I was wondering what material was required to make both the sale cost-effective and avoid having the buyer disappointed. So, I'd like to know what material you would use to send a minifigure only and what material would be required for sending out a set, which includes the manuals. In short, what sort of enveloppe and wrapping are recommanded for a minifigure? And what sort of box and wrapping are recommended for a set? Thanks for your advises

Thanks a lot everyone for your kind comments! They were really encouraging. I have build another section, which took a lot of time to build as it was hard to get it right. As you may notice, this hallway includes a lot of SNOT techniques.I also figured that this Casino would only be "Grand" if it included something grandiose such as a shark-filled acquarium. Casino PS Hall - Front RightPS I have also used a technique to offset the walls which I found on Classic Castle and was really nice. Details From this angle, you can see the work that has been put on the floor. Casino Details Finally, the back of this module which is also the start to the casino tables. Back PS All in all, I debated on whether to include a roof for this module. In the end I decided against it as it was hidding too many details. I may change my mind as the project advances. Looking forward to receiving your comments.

Very nice. There must be some epic battles in your living room.

This is really the best pirate ship I have seen here in a while. What makes the charm of this boat is its authenticity; I personally like the approach you have taken where you stick with brown and black. Should I make a boat one day, it would be really inspired by yours.

survey Picture versus Video Reviews
kinggregus replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
I joined and go frequently on Eurobricks mostly for the picture reviews. I would be quite disappointed if the format was to change. Unfortunately, I tend to be very bored when I watch a video review. Looking at the results from the poll, it looks like I am not the only one. -
I was not aware that they would go for a second run. If this is true, that's indeed really good news. I am however under the impression that this set sold so fast no because of casual fans demand but because a lot of people felt like investing in the set when they heard that it was going on a single run.

Having used the three options, my recommendation would be to try to find as many bricks as you can in the store’s pick a brick wall. Unfortunately, I find the bricks in these walls to be very restrictive and it is highly unlikely that you’ll find the right bricks for your MOC. I used to use the online pick-a-brick wall and now regret it seeing the numerous advantages of Bricklink: You can find almost any bricks you wish while once again the online store is quite restrictive Bricks are usually much cheaper than the online store and this even by including the shipping fee. Bricks come much faster with Bricklink (usually 3 business days with Bricklink while it takes up to 2 weeks with the online store). As per my experience, bricks come in much nicer individual packages in Bricklink while the online store mixes all bricks.

So great! Perfect reading for the weekend. Your magazine is such a pleasure to read.

This is such a original MOC. I love it.

This is such a beautiful scene. The color scheme remind me that we are heading towards autumn. What piece did you use to make the lovely horns of the deer?

For me it would be the talent that it is needed. This is an amazing piece.

Could 2014 Make Lego Fans Bankrupt?
kinggregus replied to BrickBuilder3213's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is all relative to the interest of the fans. I personally have cut my Lego spending by a lot from previous years. I used to buy almost all of the large sets. However, due to the incredible amount of recent large sets, I started skipping some (starting by the Sydney Opera House) and figured I could do without it. This trend continued when all the other large sets have been released as unlike previous years I discovered I would not be able to purchase them all. Here are the recent sets I have not bought which I would have normally bought: Sydney Opera House, Fairground Mixer, Maersk Line Triple-E, Tower of Orthanc, Ewok Village, Sandcrawler, MetalBeard Sea Cow and The Simpsons House. I am quite happy about the relative saving I made :)
