  1. You should be able to fix the motor solid to the engine the side rods would then always be in line with piston housing. As far as the truck it shouldn't derail the train if its pivoting properly. The new powered up line dont limit yourself to just the train motor if the m or l motor would work better. Its not showing the simple m motor 45303 (came in batman car)
  2. I think your underestimating the power of the motor. As long as your drive wheels are quartered you should see no problem with this set up. Infact as I think about this I think the way ALCO converted the holiday train to have side rods will work if you just use the piston conversion ... Then if you combine it with the pilot truck design from Zephyr1934's lone ranger it should give you the effect your looking for. I truely belive either powering this with a m motor in the loco or the train motor under the tender will power this just fine.
  3. Quite simply ... How many times has the batman character grown with the generations? So the now adults grew up with batman and want their kids to love the same batman they enjoyed ...
  4. I would use a similar set up to the emerald night with a rod sliding through the steam chamber Im looking at this reference photo
  5. You might want to look into some switch tracks as well so you can go in morethan one circle!
  6. As long as your not getting any binding either should work you may need a longer piston rod if modeling similar to the emerald. But if using the 2 bars and pin then as long as they aren't pulling out or pushing
  7. Honestly shop around ... Compare prices on bricklink and brick owl and ebay. The PAB from lego is a good base point to get prices. Personally I use all four depending on what I need.
  8. Lego is the only "toy" I purchase for me personally. I do have a considerable amount of N Scale trains and buildings but do not play with them as they are put up until the boys are older. I do modify power wheels for my boys so technically thats both lol But I buy lots of toys for just the boys including lego (they have their own lol)
  9. I think I can ralley behind this Idea. Im not international but still doing the 3 shows a year that I do really does open up your confidence because people are very closed minded when it comes to lego "sets" and they realize that "you built that without instructions?!?". It really is a confidence builder. My post office worker actually knows when Im building a new layout lol. This last time I went in and had two tubs to pick up lol and she actually asked me what I was building this time around.
  10. @Keymonus another swell build and a great continuation of the story ... Im afraid Ive fallen under similar limitations to the story with lifes responsibilities. @gedren_y the citizens have really enjoyed the assistance the Crahaish neh Triuri has been providing!
  11. @Andy Glascott Thanks for sharing that is pretty impressive. Hopefully your move goes well and is for the better.
  12. Nice collection you have Do you have a link to the what appears to be a 58 vette in the back of your evolution shot?
  13. This is the Powered Up "M" motor https://shop.lego.com/en-US/product/Simple-Medium-Linear-Motor-45303
  14. I think this is a much better fitting model ... Good execution
  15. Legostone yet another beautiful ship ... Fitting for a wealthy merchant ... Love the parts usage. They held the ninja stars together ... I use them as manifolds in my steam trains. But you are correct technically they are sprues.
  16. @Legostone That crown was made to be on a ship!
  17. Ive never seen a curved lego station before ... Probably for the reasons zephyr1934 mentioned. It would be best to build it on the "inside" of the curve rather than "outside" this will do two things ... Allow your cars with different geometry still navigate the curve and unless viewed from the side or top the train itself will hide any "imperfections" in the brick ... Also know as gaps lol. If you build it on the outside curve you will be more limited to what rolling stock you can run through the track based on how you build the curve. However here is a real life station to take notes from. (click it for link)
  18. I hope your process was as smooth as mine in dealing with them! One thing I actually did was to build the completed model in LDD then send pictures of the bricks that were getting the lights and the lxf to them ... I had just the right amount of cable that everything fit great. I as well like building "wire channels" into the design. Looking good so far ... Loving seeing the progress photos... Cant wait to see/hear it completed!
  19. I always enjoy seeing MOW equipment .... Nicely acheived!
  20. 98 cents from K-Mart in 1989
  21. Here I had a pre-set destination train in mind in the video. So Im thinking of either waybill cards they pick or making a set of plates to represent each car that they randomly draw from a cup to get their destination train. Plan is for car placement: 2 cars in upper siding 3 cars in Lower siding 3 cars in arrival train 5 cars in departure train The more I run it the more I desire that. Ive been wondering about stuffing a M motor verticle in the cab lol. Oddly enough if I run the train via Bluetooth App from my phone the slider provides prototypical speed. However the hand held controller gives the instant snap the cars need to break the magnets. The slider just lets the wheels spin. I feel like one "click" of the button is 30% on the slider. I still got time lol first show it will go to is in October ... We will be installing this on the end of our yard to give that end a bit of movement and interaction.
  22. Update! Its fully functional! I ran out of air line so the storage siding is not plumbed but main layout is all plumbed! The controls in their raw form red levers are the decouplers ... Up for open down for closed. Blue are the switches up for diverging down for thru And without further delay ... Some operation. The lego magnets are unreliable at best so it adds a bit more fiddling than I would like but it does make the puzzle have an extra challeging element.
  23. Checked them out and I love the operation. Might have to see if I can modify your design to work with the switch I went with. Its funny I was actually thinking of the same device trying to think how to implement it ... I drive past one every day
  24. I get usually one of three initial reactions after saying that my Hobby is building displays out of Lego A) "Seriously thats awesome!" B) "Wait you what? With Legos?" ... Generally this response immediately leads me to show pictures and then it is 50/50 if the then think its awesome or a waste of time/money C) complete disinterest in Lego and usually illicits the response "So your a grown man who plays with Legos?" Its not something I walk around intoducing myself as hey I build with Legos ... But it often comes up in conversation at work as most of my coworkers know that I build Collab Displays. One of my coworkers is dumbfounded that my all lego air compressor is running 20psi. But generally they are only limitedly interested in what Im building and less about lego in general. My LUG however is another story ... We can talk about all things lego lol. And of course here as well lol.
