TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Roadmonkeytj replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Look at it this way PU hub - 50 dollars PU controller - 23 dollars PU train motor - 14 dollars Total 87 dollars The set is passenger train is 160 dollars it comes with those components and a loop of track (about 20 dollars) If you can use the bricks for other MOCs then great if you dont need track or dont want the bricks then get just the parts. All are in the lego store or bricklink (or others) Buying the set will give you other train parts you may need depending on your moc ... They might be cheaper to just buy bricks you need shop around- 578 replies

MOC: Vossloh style "DSB" locomotive with remote decoupling
Roadmonkeytj replied to Selander's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I love this ... The doors ... The programing! Your making me want to ditch my small shunter for a full sized one! Definately might need to make one anyway for the train yard on the layout and keep the small shunt on the switch puzzle lol.- 16 replies

Missing the blasters still two light grey installed to hold the railings in place. The Air tank will be getting a fuel oil sticker and black hose. So far is has no interior but something is visible if you look carefully I designed the back wall to remove to change batteries and to turn on the compressor. And finally the whole

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system
Roadmonkeytj replied to HoMa's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Maybe its because I started trains at the end of 12V and had my dark ages before PF came out ... 9V track just looks more appealing to me. However I am using Pu for my new layout with PF track. -
I actually was originally thinking of something like this when I discovered the Koef.

Mein Deutsch ist schrecklich. Könnten Sie bitte auf Englisch posten oder zumindest eine Übersetzung posten? Danke. My German is terrible. Could you please post in English or at least post a translation? Thank you.

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system

I can say this when I added custom lighting to my Emerald Brickstuff was extremely easy to work with . . .The super tiny LEDS not so easy with my big fingers lol. But you can acheive carriage lighting quite simply. Add a baggage car or a combine car ... Put a second battery box in and power the carriges with extention cables ... If you leave a short loop between the cars it looks like air lines. -
I wanted to take a moment to actually comment on this lol ... For me personally the fort is well built and is a beauty of its own however for me what really grabbed me was the Island. The skull playing homage to the old hide out set was brilliant. I love that you included the governors ship. It really gives it the classic feel. I serously want a hideout of my own like this now lol On a side note growing up through the same period as you I had always thought the Blue coats were the governors private Army and the Red coats were the same army but were replacing them as the crown took more control of its colonies lol

Its a very nice looking build. I would love to see more on the seabed though. More plants and rocks and things.

So I took a Lego train into the mountains...
Roadmonkeytj replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Your crazy! Lol the shots were worth it though ... Very beautiful! How much track did you lay? -
I wanted to update this thread with the fact that this works quite well Had to install a half bushing and changed the lever arm to the L beam. I also changed the center holed brick to the 6L technic brick and added respective plates. The reason for the bushings was after 3 cars there was enough play to let the cars climb the decoupler and turn it into a derailer. This shot is before I added the bushings but it shows the lever arm arrangement quite well. ( a sharp eye will notice Ive shortened the design as well)

A few questions about some old topics?
Roadmonkeytj replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ive never seen it myself but from those that have i understand it was great out of the box but didnit hold up to constantly reclicking ... Better suited for a semi permanent home layout. Or modular that does not have a connection at that point. -
Another update! So after putting the decouplers in place ... Then moving them after some operation testing. Ive got them in the final position and began running tests. I found the third car would pull itself over the decoupler. So I added a half bushing and problem solved! And as a bonus the layout with no cars. I set the roof of the switch house in place to give an idea of layout for me. The single spur track will store the two spare cars when not active in the puzzle. Still need to build the buffer stops and finish the air operated switches (planed to leave the storage spur manually thrown). . . And once the rest of the parts on a slow boat arrive I can route hoses and finish the cars up.

Who wouldn't want their MOC to have bells and whistles and chuff appropriately with speed? I've seen several people add the units ... But they are far from plug-n-play -

For me personally I bought 3. But i bought them for parts. To me the train is very toy like as opposed to say the emerald night. So my personal plan is to make it look more like the the Olton Hall -

Roadmonkeytj replied to Sérgio's topic in LEGO Train Tech
What a neat MOW vehicle! At first i was confused by the curved tile placement until I seen the reference photo ... Total made sence! -
Lovely little train ... I like your interpretation! I think the vegitation makes the track look defunct but is well placed if thats the look you wanted. I agree ! I would love to see more of the lil red tractor as well as more angles of your train!

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system
Roadmonkeytj replied to HoMa's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I believe I've only seen NILTC and PennLUG out of those ... And they are extraordinary ... But in retrospect to all the train layouts I've seen the majority have 9v track. The one neat display was OkiLug (hope I spelled it right if not appologies). But they had 9v straights with pf curves and used supper capacitors to carry it back around to the powered track.
