@ALCO So perhaps our setups are slightly different. I built the switch as you have shown. However I used a 3L bar in place of your tubing. I can not get the small cylinder to throw the switch. Perhaps it is the air pressure? Or the fact that the switches are brand new and stiff?

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system
Roadmonkeytj replied to HoMa's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This is what I personally have seen at least here in the states. Every lego show I have been to almost every layout is running 9v track (my own lug included) now some layouts mix media but the big layouts are still mostly 9v track (even if running pf trains). There are even small museums around here with little lego layouts where you push a button and the train runs (on 9v track). Plus your thinking small picture. If 9v track was availible in more than r40 ... More realistic and less "toy like" ... Than it could open up options in the scale train as L guage is similar to O if built to 8w. Will they get rich off 9v alone? No but I think theres a market for aftermarket 9v control. -

I dont own the other space sets but I can speak for the harvest set. My stickers were cut normal ... Perhaps it was a issue they caught and fixed -

Definately interested as welll Pirates stays open all the time, us usually check the forums daily. I am active in the BoBs game as well. Have always wondered why we rarely have a presence on the front page ... Now theres an opportunity to change that. -

Ordered different parts and his advice was spot on! Had to reinforce the 11L axle to take more torque Some clearence photos ... Thats a 8W wagon

@Mister Phes I don't know how qualified I am but I am potty trained and do haunt the pirate forum quite frequently ... Every day is frequent right? -
Well Im trowing my two bricks ... I was playing with bricks before the city theme was officially a theme yet. I had a hospital, police station and fire station. I even had the old coast guards . But I had plenty of other buildings ... Resturaunts and houses and repair shops. As I grew I expanded with newer buildings but only bought one more police station and one more fire station. The theme does not need retired but the umbrella is very large right now. Volcano, Mountain, Mining, all fall under "city" as a genre them selves they would not stand but add them to the city line and people buy them. As long as they keep the City line diverse enough with other buildings I could care less if they put out 5 fire stations a year. I mean after all I loved my "airport fire station" as it only served my airport just like the real world.

Absolutely love this ... So much detail ... The cola machine where did you get the stickers?

Thanks! Yes Im all to familiar with steamers tearing up the layout lol 6w is 8 8w is 10 lol the first time I ran my steamers I tore up all sorts of things that were no problems for the diesels that the Lug had run before this lol The second time was better but still hitting things. We are trying to set up some club guidelines as to clearence (heights widths) so hopefully this years layouts are steam friendly as the lug likes my trains lol One thing we did was set the platforms on jumpers ... The 1/2 stud does close the gap on coaches well ... Just make sure theres two straights before/after the platforms lol But thank you for the response! Its helpful to show them examples of other layouts that run steam lol

While I dont have pictures I ordered a rh and lh ... The color is slightly lighter than new pf track but just about right on older track. The points worked quite well and switched just as smoothly as the lego ones. I'm Glad you developed these as they will make future layouts a breeze! This pisses me off ... I guess imitation is the greatest form of flatery but this is out of control lately . . .

Thanks! Originally I planed for 2 or three still got to add the track bumpers and decoupling device to know for sure. Yes scenery is planned I have a switch house and some MoW trucks. I'm keeping it fairly barebones until I see if it goes over well enough to give it more details. Thank you ... That was the goal! Yes extra two are variety or to put in the way to make it more challenging for the "experienced nook operators" lol. Your layout looks intriguing as well ...

Lol but a Train of say 5 wagons ... With no turntable could reduce the time ... Im building a inglenook puzzle for our clubs interactive section ... So naturally something like this raises my eyebrows as a future "add-on" lol Understandably the wagon in yours is pre programmed to be pulled to a point. But if a movable "stopper" would only allow the "user" to drive the train so far for each car loaded ... In theory a load operation could be set up and a unload of a second train correct?
-
I can only echo this ... Also Could it be programmed to load/ unload multiple cars?
-
Update: More progress! This is the basic track layout. I will have yard limit signs on the loop as a challenge and I have crossovers to go on the long straight stretch to connect to the club layout for larger shows. So Ive built the lower frames of all the cars just to see spacing of the decouplers. Still need to finish both tankers and both gondola cars. The boxcars are waiting on roofs and the flat cars waiting on sides. Here is a quick video. I did not video me testing cars through the switches but it pulls/pushes 3-4 no problem. I had no issue pulling the whole consist but could not push it into the sidings so I will have them sort the cars into the sidings. Theres actually alot of wheel hop and spin right before it derails at the switch. The track is elevated 4 plates in both of these. If the puzzle goes over well I want to ballast and install tiles for ties

Stunning! How many studs away from the platform is your track?

Somehow I missed this post ... Your clock is impressive ... I may borrow your design as well! Thank you for sharing! -
Update: So I took a couple short videos. This is only using the first speed ... I definately need to redesign with some lower gearing as it moves way too quick for a shunter. So I may try to figure out a way to incorporate the MPu motor. However it moves smothly through switches. I'm actually testing out the new cross over from 4Dbricks. You'll have to excuse the shoes lol (pictures are videos just click them)

My personal opinion is 9v track looks better in a layout even if running 9V trains. For my LUG we run 9v, PF, and PU. So all of the trackage is 9V -

This is new to me but im very intruiged ... This seems like a great project ... I look forward to seeing this run. Have you other air operated trains? -
Definately the cab side ... Might take some reworking to get headlights in the bonnet side. But overall Im very pleased with the modification to the original design. Stay tunned as I'm still building ... You'll get a running pic before too long.
