  1. I usually avoid the properties licensed by Disney (too expensive), so other than occasional forays for the sets that are just too good to pass up, I usually stick to DC Superheroes. But a fully built up, Modular Building-esque Sanctum Sanctorum? With the added benefit of not actually being as large as a Modular and therefore not ridiculously out of my price range? I'll probably pass on the other sets (a couple of them, namely Corvus Glaive Attacks and The Hulkbuster Fight, aren't bad but are nothing special) but no freakin' way I'm missing out on this. If only because Doctor Strange is one of my all-time favourite superheroes and I want the Sanctum Sanctorum in my city! That said, based on the pictures I've seen of both the real one and the model, I'm probably going to mirror-build it. It'll be more accurate to have the apartment and pizza shop section on the left side of the Sanctum, not the right. (Also, since City Pizza already has a monopoly on my city's pizza business, I'll probably repurpose the pizza shop into a laundromat or something. Or maybe a nice coffee shop.)
  2. Small problem with your theories; we know now that Lego slates Big Bang themes to last three years specifically. Those plot elements would probably only last one year at a stretch, especially if the new Nexo Knights standard of a 20 episode series per year happens again. (I hope it will.) Though they could probably come up with sequel plots . . . Oh - my bad, sorry.
  3. Not all the Elves animations are part of the Netflix series. In 2015, they released a 22-minute TV spot, like what they did with the Atlantic theme way back when, that told the story of how, shortly after her grandmother died, Emily Jones inherited a magical necklace from her grandmother. Spoilers follow, or you could go online and watch the series. Then, in 2016, because of how successful it had already been, they created two more episodes, entitled 'Dragons to Save, Time to be Brave - Parts 1 & 2'. People really should watch those two specials before the Netflix series, because it makes a lot more sense that way. I do hope they decide to put them on Netflix at some point, because lots of people wouldn't know to look for them.
  4. Aww, really? The promo pictures made it look like light bley. Shame.
  5. Yeah, I regret the fact that, at the time, I couldn't look past the mini-dolls to see that ship for the excellent set it was, or I would have got it. Fingers crossed for a re-design at some point, like how the Elvenstar Tree is a sequel to the first year's Treetop Hideaway.
  6. You know, you could go on Bricklink and part it out . . ? It's not like there are any stickered parts.
  7. Well, there was the Stone Clay minifigure. I think that had a grey helmet? Never managed to get the set, though (my local retailers didn't stock it and the only ones that did went out of stock - still hopeful, though) so I can't confirm.
  8. Like the sort of thing the Lightseekers franchise does? Could be cool, though they've kind of done it already with Chima, and that didn't work out well, so I don't think they're likely to do it again. As for me, I know that 2019 is the 40th anniversary of Pirates, so I really hope we see some sort of Pirate Big Bang theme. We could have, like, One Piece in Lego. Wouldn't that be amazing? Ooh, maybe we'll get Space Pirates? That could be cool.
  9. Well, I've only been following Elves as a theme since the Goblin King stuff in 2017, but I did get Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle and the School of Dragons so that I could repurpose them for MOCs (stripping out some of the lilac at the base of the Castle and adding a couple of extra storeys made it into a brilliant Tower of Darkness, plus while the School itself was a little weak (and was scrapped for parts) the dragon was very useful indeed.) so they both hold special places in my heart.
  10. How is that relevant? If that were what they were going for, the lion should have stripes and there should be an Earth Phoenix, not an Earth Fox - not that there actually is an Earth Fox, but the point stands.
  11. Actually . . you might want to check out Brickset's list of D2Cs. https://brickset.com/sets/instructions2/year-2018/tag-D2c I'm not sure if it's official or someone just jumped the gun, but one of them is pretty clearly marked 'HOGWARTS'.
  12. Oh . . how arbitrary.
  13. I completely agree. An Earth Blue Emerald Night would be pretty nice, though frankly I'd settle for Earth Green again. But that train is one of the most beautiful Lego sets I've ever seen, and I want it.
  14. You know, I think you might be right about that. I can't help but notice the product numbers; after 70655 Dragon's Den, it goes straight to 70657 Ninjago City Docks. What happened to 70656?
  15. Of course the minifigures would be different. Maybe Harry and Ron and Hermione will appear in one wearing dress robes and the other in their normal uniforms?
  16. That's what I was talking about in my previous post. Is there a picture?
  17. Did the big dragon cove set get leaked? Because I've been looking forward to that the most!
  18. Oh I think I see what you're saying . . . I just had an idea. What if, for the docks, I used a bare blue 32x32 baseplate (since I know those are happening again in 2018) and added some little iceberg builds to decorate it? No messing around with layers of tiles or anything! Thank you, this is great!
  19. If you mean the ice skating pond in the corner, that's just trans light blue tiles on white. Good for ice, not so much for water . . .
  20. Huh, maybe. Perhaps if we layered trans white 1x2 tiles on it?
  21. I think that the Great Hall will probably be in two 'halves' that can be hinged open or put together; like the part that's a set on its own might have the teachers' table and a pedestal for the Goblet of Fire and maybe one or two of the house table, and the part in the D2C will have the rest of the house tables. And it'll be built so that the two halves can be attached together and then hinge open in two halves for display.
  22. Good idea, but I'm trying to go for a 'frozen docks' kind of thing and I need a different kind of atmosphere to make that work.
  23. Can you give me a link? I can't find it,
