LEGO Nexo Knights 2018
Fenghuang0296 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, DC Super Hero Girls only lasted one year. Movies usually only last a year and a half. But I take your point. That said, you can't blame them for building up a group of characters over multiple years. If there's new names, new faces every year, you can't expect kids to remember them.- 1,601 replies

On a somewhat lighter note; I got the Berserker Bomber and tested the Vermillion armour pieces with Berserker's alternate face, and . . SnakeByte is in the house! https://imgur.com/2MnLldK Seriously, it's great. The helmet and armour parts, when fitted together, completely obscure all of the white while leaving the four green eyes and grill mouth visible; and if you look at it right, the mouth even looks kind of like it has fangs! It's so perfect! We have a custom, easy-to-make Vampire general minifig; whoo!- 1,601 replies

I'maware that this is an open question, but I still want to throw in my two cents. If cameos and returning characters are a thing, it's inevitable that there'll be a Bat-racer driven by LEGO Batman. Probably a Ninja Roadster with Lloyd too. Outside of that. callbacks to old themes would be epic. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Power Miners Drill Racer - the perfect way to appeal to older fans' nostalgia. Maybe something connected to the old Adventurers theme? Johnny Thunder was in the Lego Movie. Since licensed tie-ins are inevitable, and both Albus Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort have appeared already, I'd enjoy seeing Harry Potter. Why he would be driving a car is beyond me, but I'm sure they'll think of something. But, for me the big one would definitely be another appearance from Sonic the Hedgehog to echo his Dimensions debut. Preferably with Tails riding shotgun. (If there's one thing that the LEGO Dimensions content for Sonic did for me, it was give me a desire to see official minifigures for Tails and Eggman.) After all, it only makes sense that the fastest thing alive would be part of a race.

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
More than I've seen so far. And I hope by 'looks bad' you're talking about the quality of the photograph, because tat looks pretty great. I hoped they'd leave the central part of the first two floors open for the Indoraptor to be posed there, but what they look to be doing, with the unfoldable walls and the balcony to create an extended play area, is even better. The side parts do look a bit empty, but that's easy to fix. All told, that set looks to be a must-have, even if the dinosaurs jack the price up a bit too much. Fingers crossed for a good sale.- 1,290 replies

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion

You've seen the interior? Where? All I can find is the big 'overview' picture. And what about the minifigures? Is there a complete list of all the minifigures that come in Lockwood Estate? Because I can't tell and the official set description doesn't name names . . :( Seriously, though. By the looks of things, each set except the smallest one, Pteranodon Chase, has one of the movie's main characters be exclusive to it. Henry Wu in Stygimoloch Breakout, Wheatley (is he a main character? He's named so I think so) in Blue's Helicopter Pursuit, intern guy whose name I don't - oh, it's Franklin. Him, in Carnotaurus Gyrosphere Escape, and . . we're right back to me not knowing who all the characters in Lockwood Estate are except Blue, Claire and Owen. Also disappointed to hear that, apparently, the scientist in the Juniors T. Rex Breakout isn't supposed to be Wu, just a random, generic scientist. Would it have been so bad for Wu not to be exclusive?- 1,290 replies

That makes . . a certain degree of sense . . Except the thousands of years part. Because I really jus really makes it even more suspect as to why the First Spinjitzu Master suddenly dropped dead . . wait . . unless he never died? There's not necessarily any evidence to suggest that the skeleton in his tomb actually was him. Now that I think about it, that skeleton was just lying against a rock in the bottom room. You'd think there'd be a dais, a big glass case, magic, eternally lit torches, at the very least a coffin. Yeah, now that I think about it I don't think that was the First Spinjitzu Master, just some hapless adventurer who went down there in pursuit of the Realm Crystal, got trapped and died of starvation. Which means that the First Spinjitzu Master might still be alive!- 4,591 replies

LEGO Nexo Knights 2018
Fenghuang0296 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, there is one option for more variants on the 'standard' Virus Vampire that no one's considered yet (to my knowledge); https://imgur.com/RlxPgU9 https://imgur.com/H6rVsva That's right; the gunmetal armour parts they made last year for the Vermillion work gloriously with the Vampires. It's a shame I won't get Berserker Bomber until tomorrow; I'd have loved to try Berserker's unique face, which I already thought looked very snake-like, with these parts. If it works well, we might not even need a general figure; I can just buy a second Berserker Bomber (something I was considering regardless), slap the armour on him and switch out the torso, and call him "SnakeByter". That'll be cool. Also, here’s my current model for Monstrox; https://imgur.com/9X8OSto I’m less than satisfied with the fact that he uses the same legs, though, and I’m looking for something to replace them with . . the legs on that new Black Widow figure for Avengers Infinity War look promising, mind. I’ll definitely try them when the sets get released.- 1,601 replies

Not bad, but the stitching pattern across the mouth doesn't work for me. Besides, I already have something for the head; https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1400&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 It's sand green, not fluorescent green, so it's not perfect, but at times like this, you just have to overlook the little things like shades of green. And that laugh, with the pronounced eyebrows and the tongue, is totally Monstrox. XD- 1,601 replies

LEGO Nexo Knights 2018
Fenghuang0296 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes, that has been said before. If we're going for Flashback Monstrox, then Moltor's entire body, along with the Dark Red Hood part included in that Ninjago Battle Pack (the one with Skylor) and Year 1 Jestro's cape, as well as maybe some kind of pearl gold shoulder armour, possibly that V-shaped one that was so prevalent in Chima, would make a perfectly serviceable Monstrox. But my objective is to create a Year 3, Virus-ish Monstrox, one that fits the Virus Vampire aesthetic. Which is something that I have stated before.- 1,601 replies

I wouldn't count Fred as a general. His figure is completely identical to VanByter No. 407. (Or maybe MegaByter - The one from Axl's Rolling Arsenal.) I'm pretty certain he's just a Vampire who didn't want to simply be 'VanByter No. 408' and renamed himself 'Fred'. Either way, after I got the Twinfector, I swapped out his hands for the white ones on the Berserker torso I'm using for my Human Monstrox figure - that way, I get the double advantage of Monstrox wearing stylish black gloves and Fred being distinguishable from other Vampires by his white hands.- 1,601 replies

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Fenghuang0296 replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Slightly off topic, but you know what I'd really like to see at some point? An official timeline for the history of Ninjago. Because there are some things that don't add up all that well. Hands of Time was good in this regard; it gave us a concrete date for the time of the Serpentine War; a bit over forty years before the beginning of the series. This is a timeframe that makes sense; it explains why Pythor could have been one of the Anacondrai originally sealed in the tomb and still be alive in the present day, and how Skales and Fangtom could know each other. But Acronix cited the Destiny's Bounty as being two hundred years old. Let's not get into how he could possibly have recognised the Bounty, given the original Bounty was destroyed on the Dark Island and the one he saw was the Bounty 2.0, which bore noticeable differences to the original, not to mention that he also stated it was legendary partly because it could fly, when it only gained that ability after Jay upgraded it. So that has to mean that Captain Soto, as well as Nadakhan, and their respective crews, lived two hundred years ago. So how is it that the members of Nadakhan's crew lived in the alternate realms for two hundred years without dying of old age? And now it's revealed that the First Spinjitzu Master left the First Realm to create Ninjago. But for piracy to have emerged, there had to be civilisation, an economy, and that takes time to be put together. Unless the First Spinjitzu Master created the world as though it had already been going for some time? And then, apparently, he lived long enough to father two sons at just the right time for them to grow to become old me now in the modern era, before apparently dying. So how old was he? Two hundred? Three hundred? And why did he suddenly kick the bucket? Assuming that actually was his skeleton in the tomb in Possession, he didn't look like he'd died in a fight. I really hope some of this gets made clear later in the SOG arc, or the still-unnamed one that comes after it this summer.- 4,591 replies

So, now that we know that there will be no new NK sets in the summer releases, I wanted to open the floor to anyone who feels like they want to expand the ranks of the Virus Vampires with their own creations. So. Who's first?

I'd love that, but I don't think we should count on it. Remember, Ruina doesn't have standard legs, she has the 2x2x2 slope piece for a 'dress'. I've never seen an minifigure like that in a Battle pack . . . still, we can hope. We deserve that much, after they cancelled the last wave!- 1,601 replies

Amen. I feel like that sentiment is summed up most perfectly in this one snippet of dialogue; Wu: "Can't you all find it in your hearts to forgive Lloyd for his mistake?" Nya: "Nope," That is the one line I remember most clearly from the movie because it was so bad. I get what they were going for; subverting cliches, but it wasn't worth sacrificing the relationship and comraderie the Ninja are supposed to have for the sake of - not even a laugh. A chuckle. Would it have really been so bad to just indulge the cliche? But you know what the really sad thing is? They had everything they could have possibly asked for to ake a good movie. Five years' worth of source material, well-established, interesting characters with fun and enjoyable dynamics between them, a killer soundtrack ("Heroes" is gonna be in my top played songs for a long time.), exceptional tie-in products, brilliant cinematography and an incredibly talented cast. And they still bungled it. You have to wonder, how bad does a writer have to be if he can't come up with a movie that's at least okay from all that?

. . . Yes! I mean, obviously without the virtual reality and a bit more diversity - obviously there's no need to focus exclusively on sci-fi style stuff for TBBR - but yes! :)

Oh. Right. Heh . . yeah. Thought you were referring to S.O.G. HQ. Thouhg, speaking of Street Race of Snake Jaguar, I'm kind of disappointed that Zane's bike only lasted for one episode. I mean, they could rebuild it, but they usually don't with stuff like that. (Still, I love how they actually take the time to show vehicles being destroyed now, so there's no more questions like "What happened to the Ultra Sonic Raider?" Now, if we can just get a retroactive explanation to why no one's heard from the Ultra Dragon or the elemental blades since 2013, then I'll be content.)- 4,591 replies

You call that sense? I'm not seeing it. The in-show version had no spinning saw blades, no whirling hammers, and that giant tyre is a stretch, at best. That said, I do like the motorbike. And the giant doors are pretty good, while the prison cell area . . isn't incredibly accurate, but it was there. (Just wish they'd put a door piece there instead of standard bars.) However, you are right about the good character development for Zane and Cole. I was worried that it would be a Lloydfest like the movie was, but no fear. :) Still, they should have at least put a dartboard somewhere in there, if not the pool table. Would that be so much to ask for? -.- I'm definitely adding in a 'S.O.G. Downtime' area beyond the doors when I get mine, including a dartboard, a pool table and a den for Killow. Even if he can't sit in it. XD- 4,591 replies

That actually might be kind of cool. Not enough for me to actually get invested in the Friends theme (give me a call when Friends has explosions. Then I'll buy), but might at least be worth a watch.

Personally? I'd love to see TBBR turn out to be sort of like a Lego-fied version of Hot Wheels: The World Race, except without the overarching villain plot of Gelorum and her drones. A race between three to five competing factions, with several characters who each have a more-or-less equal share of the screentime and focus. A context like this doesn't need to have a hero or a villain; just opposing characters or teams and let the viewer decide who they want to root for. Obviously, there can be only one canon winner, but that's the great thing about Lego and having the toys; it's easy for people who have the toys to, after watching the movie, decide that they would have preferred it if Character Y had won the race instead of Character X. Then they could play that out with the toys. I'd really love to see TBBR shake up the 'formula' that the previous three movies have established and that Sequel seems to be looking to follow.

And were told nothing about any of the characters except how Lloyd, Misako - oh, sorry. "Koko" (makes my ears bleed almost as much as 'Lulu' from ARC-V) - and Garmadon were related, and that Zane is a robot. Also, I think post-it notes is a little generous. They probably only communicated with Morse Code.
