  1. I think you're all making more of a big deal of this than is really necessary. They've come this far, they aren't going to abandon everything just because one guy's not on the project anymore. Especially given the potential a racing LEGO Movie would have. I fully expect to see 'callback' sets including a Batmobile racer and some kind of Green Ninja Dragster, as well as something for Emmet and maybe a revised version of Wyldstyle's Super Cycle. To say nothing of all the other properties that could be involved to add publicity - an ECTO-(2? 3?) racecar, a DeLorean Time Racer, maybe even Anakin or Sebulba in a Pod Racer. This sort of project is something that TLG and WB alike can't and wouldn't just scrap. It's too big to fail, with or without Jorge Gutierrez.
  2. Well, episode 5 is up next week. I'm getting shivers . . It does seem like Killow has more authority than Mr. E and Ultra Violet. Speaking of Mr. E and the Quiet One . .
  3. Yeah, these are all things that make me happy. Also, I did not peg Mr. E being a Nindroid - although, really it just adds credibility to the 'he's really the Overlord' theory. We saw the state the Overlord was in for the second part of Rebooted; is it possible that he, either as the Digital Overlord or just as magic goo, is possessing an old Nindroid - wait! {GASP} The purple goo! The new Garmadon minifigure is shown to have purple goo leaking from cracks in his armour. The Overlord spent a period of time as a puddle of sentient purple goo! It really is the Overlord! As for the earlier discussion about the S.O.G. Headquarters and its accuracy (which I unfortunately couldn't quote), it is unfortunate to know that the set is indeed not very accurate. We need dartboards, pool tables, and a den for Killow, stat! (At least they got the holding cell for Cole.) But there's also the question of why Lloyd was included with that set. It should really have been Cole? Unless Lloyd goes there later . . ?
  4. Aww, really? And here I've been thinking of him as "Monstrox Beta". XD And this mirror image thing certainly seems interesting . . kind of disappointed that we aren't seeing a post-apocalyptic Knighton, but shadow world mirror dimension stuff works too. And an updated race of ancient vampires. That's almost disappointing; after two waves of ancient monsters, I was really hoping the Virus Vampires would be robots or cyborgs that were manufactured like the Nindroids. (But now I'm really curious about Berserker, Pola and Fred.)
  5. I'm with you on about 40% of that. (Though personally I wouldn't count the Battle Suits.) I agree that the best vehicles for Axl and Macy were undoubtedly the Rolling Arsenal and Bot Drop Dragon. (Seriously. "Dragon Knight Macy", when her Battle Suit combines with Hotspur, is one of the best things to come out of the theme.) However, I would argue that while the Rumble Blade was good, Clay's Wizard Mech is just a little bit better. Just because I love that 'battle suit for a battle suit' idea. I'm so glad we got something that cool before the theme ended. Especially since it works retroactively - Clay spent a significant portion of Season 3 stomping around in his Battle Suit, so it only makes sense for him to have a Battle Suit compatible vehicle. I just wish we'd gotten the Wizard Mech in Year 2 and the Falcon Fighter in Year 3, because it barely even appeared in the show due to the fact that it wasn't Battle Suit compatible. As for Aaron, I think the unfortunately-named Rock Climber was the best. Most of the other vehicles could split in two. The Rock Climber could split in three. (Sure, it's nothing compared to the Rumble Blade which could split in four, but still.) I don't get it's name - how is that thing supposed to climb anything? - but it just works for me in a way the Aero Striker V2 doesn't. And don't even mention the massive waste of parts the X-Bow was. That thing was a massive disappointment in a wave where every set counted. Finallt, Lance, and this is where I disagree most strongly. The Hover Jouster was the weakest of his vehicles; small, limited play value, practically a glorified parts pack. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I think the Mecha Horse was his best vehicle; I know transforming features are overdone (at least, they were at the time, since this one came on the heels of Chima, a theme full of transformation features) but it's a good concept, and the model was full of interesting parts. (Plus, in Year 2 I modded it so that a Battle Suit could ride it like a to-scale horse, which was awesome. Good times.)
  6. Well, I sure hope not. But I said the same about Nexo Knights, so . . That said, Elves does have one point in its favour; it has a summer wave. Only two sets, but it's more than NK's getting.
  7. Also, is there any word on Australian prices? Particularly for 75930 and 75927 (my two must-haves, as from the looks of things the two could be combined well and look like they contain all the main characters between them.)
  8. Except it wasn't so bad for the Vermillion, because they had some orange variant snakes to break things up. (I liked the orange ones. They should have made an orange coloured vehicle.)
  9. Oh, you think? I suppose that's a good point. It just bothers me that the Indoraptor looks like it could only fit into a two-storey indoor space, which, unless a lot of the interior of the auction house is taken up by a single large room, will mean that it can't fit inside the building, and that would bug me a fair bit. I mean, I'm sure a workaround can be engineered, but it's the principle of the matter. Also, as for the spoiler tags, I know that some people don't like to watch the trailers, so I figured it would be rude to openly discuss that sort of thing without warning when people who avoid trailers might be reading.
  10. We had the same problem with the Sky Pirates. With the exception of Flintlocke (and Clancy, but that's just because he was a Serpentine) all the pirates, even Doubloon, used one of two (maybe three but I doubt it) generic torso and leg mould/prints. The exception was the Battle Pack, which featured the same minifigurws with different hats.
  11. Moving on from Jurassic Park for a bit, the new Fallen Kingdom trailer leaked, and with it comes our first glance of the Indoraptor. And it looks absolutely amazing . . though now I'm starting to think that the version of it from 75930 is a little too big. I wonder if it wouldn't be feasible to design a brick-built variation that's more to minifigure scale? Something similar to the brick-built version of Blue that was in Lego Dimensions? Also, there was a scene in the trailer that . . All but confirms that 75930 is supposed to be some kind of black-market dinosaur auction house.
  12. I guess they had to make the sacrifice for the sake of enabling him to wear the Oni Mask. Oh well. Personally, the big draw of the set for me is Samurai X and her mech (I deliberately forewent the Samurai VLX last year because I knew a mech in her colour scheme was inevitable), plus the proper Pixal face is an excellent bonus - seriously, since it wasn't officially confirmed last year (no matter how obvious it was) that Samurai X was Pixal, this is actually only the second official Pixal minifigure ever! - and Killow and his bike are more of a bonus, so I don't mind too much. Also, how does the 'skateboards as roller skates' thing work out?
  13. So, the new year stock finally showed up in my local retailers, and my top priority was 72004 Tech Wizard Showdown. Now that I've got it, I've noticed two things that others seem to overlook. Firstly, the big mech is actually designed so that Merlok or Monstrox' respective holograms can be detached from their pedestals and placed inside the cockpit in place of Clay's battle suit, which is why there's that round 2x2 jumper stud on the 'seat'. (I'll note that it works better with Monstrox, because his hologram's head is at exactly the right height to peek out through the gap between the chestplate and the visor - though I prefer to leave the visor ratcheted open by one slot for that configuration, so that Monstrox' head is more visible. Meanwhile, if you put Merlok in there, it makes him look somewhat short.) I don't think any of the reviews I've seen have touched on this, so it's a shame that this little detail is being overlooked, because something about Monstrox taking over Clay's battle suit really appeals to me. (Now I kind of want to build a copy in the Vampire colour scheme. Maybe if and when the sword and nexogon parts are remade in appropriate colours.) And secondly, I don't think that the Clay minifigure in the battle suit was supposed to be Clay in his actual armour. He looks vastly different to the other Knights (not that I have them in hand yet, but I've seen pictures), and, if anything, his costume there makes me think more of a 'wizard's robe' than of armour. I think that this might be another victim of the cancelled second wave, that this Clay might be designed as a Merlok-Powered, awakened wizard, version of the special suits the Knights were wearing in their Battle Suits last year and the actual armour version of Clay was going to be in one of the second wave sets that got canned. (After all, it makes sense that they'd put Clay and Ruina/Wanda in the same set.) If that's true, it's kind of disappointing. Thoughts, everyone?
  14. "Roughly". Very helpful.
  15. Can anyone tell what the footprint of the auction house/mansion set, 75930, is? I'm trying to clear a space for it in my village. It looks like it's 40 studs wide, but I can't quite tell. Second opinion, anyone?
  16. On an unrelated note, you know what I really wish they'd done? A corrupted version of Chef Eclair. He could have had an evil moustache, and a, and a black chef hat! NOTHING SAYS EVIL LIKE A BLACK CHEF HAT. No arguments.
  17. Oh . . nevermind then.
  18. Plus, to be fair, with the Carnotaurus and the Indoraptor, we're already getting two new dinos this year. Besides. This isn't Lego Dinosaurs, this is Lego Jurassic World. It wouldn't make sense for them to make Spinosaurus or Ankylodon molds (even though I'd love an ankylodon) if those dinosaurs aren't even in the movie, or only briefly appear, when they could do ones that are more relevant. Speaking of which, there's a pretty obvious reason that there aren't any triceratopses in the sets; the movie doesn't have triceratopses.
  19. Naah. That would cramp Elsa, and more importantly Marshmallow, 's style over in Disney.
  20. Still doesn't explain why they arbitrarily gave them new costumes. -.- Still doesn't explain why they arbitrarily gave them new costumes. -.-
  21. Maybe we'd see an actual, living horse for once? XD
  22. I'm reasonably certain that if they do out a triceratops into a set, it will indeed be sick.
  23. I agree. If only they hadn't segwayed into the Stone Monsters. (Personally, I actually liked the Stonies, but they certainly could have done a bit better.) Shame it probably won't happen, though . . maybe people with classic Castle stuff (which I unfortunately lack) can MOC something like that?
  24. You actually make a good point . . never really thought about that, to be honest. Maybe I should strip out the part of my Vampire Castle devoted to restoring Monstrox' human body? Hmm . . .
  25. I agree with all of that. I still kind of hope the last few sets will be released, but I'm not counting on it. Minor note, though; I doubt Macy would have gotten another dragon. More likely it would have been some sleek plane, or maybe something similar to Clay's Rumble Blade but without the splitting function. I am doing my best to design mine like a proper set - action features, taking notes from both the thematic of what's been seen from the Vampires thus far and the Volcano Lair from ages ago. In particular, I'm designing it so that it's sort of modular - one main 'keep' part, a 'battlement' area and a three-storey 'tower' section that contains a place for the Monstrox pedestal from 72004 to attach and a table beneath to hold Monstrox' human form. I'm also going with a sort of 'corrupted castle' aesthetic - the idea being that the castle existed already, and it was 'infected'. I'm waiting to see the show, though, before finalising the design, just in case something gets shown that I can make it look similar to.
