  1. I still consider myself a beginner in this, so do not quote me here. But I think the answer is "no". There seems to be no rule or guideline that your main character has to be linked to a build of yours. What you can do is introducing a new side character for each colony, or even one build only. You do not have to though. If you are looking for examples: check my MotBS index (see my signature below): it has different minor characters associated with builds in different colonies, and so far nobody complained.
  2. My first offering is done and licensed, I expect a donation of 245DB shortly.
  3. A medium sized sugar factory has been set up and licensed.
  4. With sugarcane being abundant around Jameston, it was only a matter of time until production facilities were set up to process the sugar. One of these facilities is a sugar factory in Jameston, extracting the sugar from the raw sugarcane and producing a sweet juice for further refinement, as well as pulp which can be fed to livestock. The building is a fine example of clean and functional Corrington architecture: You could take a look all around the outside: The inside of the factory building is cramped full with Corlander workers, using the finest machinery available. The process goes as follows: The cleaned sugarcane, delivered from nearby plantations, is stored until it is processed. In a first step, the sugarcane is put into the machinery, while water is added. Workers keep a mechanism going that crushes the sugarcane, so the sugar inside can get solved in the water. Finally, the sugarjuice is filled into barrels, while the remaining pulp is kept for use as either food (for livestock) or fuel (like wood). Note how you can see some filled barrels in the background! That is the basis for the world-famous Corrington rum! The work is going along well day after day, as long as the supply of fresh sugarcane never runs out. ====================================================================================================== @Ayrlego: You are to blame for this! Not only did you make me convert this build into a sugar factory, but you also made me buy a lightbox - with this shoot being the first using it. I am pleased with the result, now I have to work on my photo editing skills! The "machinery" build is quite simplistic, but the general idea of the actual process is kept. A real factory for this would look a lot different, but the steps of the process are the same. As always, the build can be opened up, including removable roof sections: This will be licensed as a medium factory in the settlement of Jameston.
  5. Comedy gold! Well written, and I had a good laugh. More, please!
  6. What is the consensus on licensing "temporary scenes" - things like a circus visiting a town, a parade, a market day?
  7. A fine build, and even better writing - I enjoyed both! I assume there is no interior to this one? That would be the only downside for me, for everthing else is pretty much perfect. The MOC works on its own, as well as part of the street. I really like how those three builds come together, that is very well planned and done. Now that Mardian barber... there is no pie bakery near his store, eh?
  8. The brutal mistreatment of our beloved Lady Mesabi will not be without consequences... @Mesabi?
  9. Two very nice microbuilds. Those are your first attempts? Excellent start! The glass factory looks very realistic. I like the snotted ground, and especially that the river is a bit lower - great effect! The piles of raw materials in front of the factory are also nicely done. What is the "gap" at the right side of the main building meant to be? The temple is also nicely done. The ornaments on the tower do a good job of adding details. Are those golden microfigs supposed to be statues? If yes, I would try to connect them with the temple, as right now they look like gold-plated civilians.
  10. My dear brother Henry, we have not seen for merely a few weeks, but so much has happened already. As you know, I had chosen Arlinsport for my first steps into the New World. I arrived safely, only to find that there is not much left to explore in or around Arlinsport. Not all was bad though, since the library had to offer many things I had never read about back home. I have begun an index of the New Worlds flora, and hope to add to it regularly. By coincidence, I also met our old friend Harold, who now has a business in the Arlinsport docks. He is doing fine, even though I have the feeling that he is looking for new opportunities. So am I, and Harold gave me interesting news of an exploration and construction site on Cocovia. Which, by the way, I am currently heading to, aboard the Kingfisher. We should arrive later this week, and when my letter has reached you, another royal road should be set up already. I am looking forward to the challenges of construction, as well as the opportunity to study plants and people alike across the route between King's Harbour and Quinnsville! I wish I could tell you of bigger tales, but my biggest "adventure" yet does not deserve that name. You see, there are a few gangplanks outside of town, which see no real use since a bigger harbour had been set up years ago. I had the idea that they would be a good site to study the local sealife, so made a day trip there. When I arrived, one of the Arlinsport citizens seemed to fish there, but struggled to get his catch on land: It took me a moment to understand why: there was another "fisher" battling him for the very same fish! So my plans for fish studies were struck down immediately. Not only would all other fish soon flee this scene, but with all my curiosity I was not willing to swim with a shark nearby! You see, no big adventures yet, but who knows what tomorrow will bring? I do hope things are well with you and the family back home, and will write you again soon from Cocovia. My best wishes, Reinhard ===================================================================================== A build I had in the works for some time now, finally finished over the weekend. Some more shots: And even more behind the spoiler tag: I am quite happy with the result, even if the "water" is of course much too plain - but I lack the parts to do it more realistically. Note how the rocks above water are sharp, and sloped pieces are only used underwater: where I could, I tried to go for realism. There are no intentions of mine to license this build. If another Corlander is interested: this could be a small artisan (fisherman) or small plantation (fishing place). Decide for yourself.
  11. Very nice build, and looking quite "historic". The red/white/brown combination works. I love how much attention to detail went into the inside. This is just my personal opinion, but I would change two things. For a start: while all the brown inside looks quite authentic, it also looks kind of boring. Some more diversity in colour for the interior would really help. The other (similar) point is the ledgers: I would use different colours, not only black. Maybe give the building some outside/backside stairs for the doctor?
  12. Thank you for reminding me that I have not yet moved a single brick for this. I feel like I already have too much on my plate for this month, but damn. I really want to enter some solid stuff here...
  13. It looks like you could get anything up to 48x48 size in there and still angle it how you want, or fit a 64x64 inside without those options. Correct? I think you might have pushed me over the edge concerning lightboxes.
  14. What he said. Beautiful build all around. Does the first level have an interior?
  15. If you have the parts, try to go for a large factory. Not only do you get a higher bounty and monthly yield, but you have more room on the inside for actual "factory stuff". My current build is medium sized because I lack the parts for a larger version, but I wish I had more room on the inside.
  16. Nice. I missed that, maybe because it was "before my time". Could that be added to the Lands & Properties thread please?
  17. As awesome as this is: since when does Corrington get a bonus on factories? It was on educational properties last time I checked.
  18. I do not follow these hipster shenanigans. It seems there is no common sense to be found in Oleon...
  19. Oleanders love to rip off everybody, even their own folks. Shame!
  20. Aye, no Oleander would ever get their hands on actual work.
  21. Name: Oat (Avena Sativa) IC background: Grown all over the Brick Seas, oats are usually used to feed horses. Pigs also appreciate it. While some northern regions are known to use oats in their local dishes, it is not considered a speciality in many places. OOC background: Most commonly used as livestock feed, oats are also nutrient-rich and considered healthy for humans. Do you want to know more?
