  1. Thanks. I have made it so. Thanks. The idea was to give the idea of rocky terrain (dark grey) with some different type of mineral (light grey with "shiny bits") while also giving th idea that it is still on Argentia among deserts (dark tan with "cacti"). Glad it worked out. As for the "dynamite": I have not actually thought about it, and just checked. You are right, it is most definitely not dynamite. But mining with explosives was not uncommon in the Age Of Sail, and the "gunpowder solution" is just fine.
  2. That is not among the options for properties. A mine is, but this is not yet a mine. And it is not a property to be licensed either, the rules are pretty clear on that.
  3. "Listen buddy, I'm Golden Jack, and people don't call me that for nothing. See that golden tooth of mine? It was me who found the gold on... OH FOR #$%&§ SAKE, SOMEBODY BRING ME THAT RUM! YESTERDAY! Where did we stop? Ah yarr, my hand for finding treasures in the mountains. See, this island, how do they call it... Argentia? It is a piece of dry dirt, rock bottom of the Brick Seas, a piece of puujoo. But I came anyway, for something made my nose tingle when I said foot on land last week. Got me a horse, some equipment, and of course plenty of explosives, and off into the southern mountains it was! Not before long I came across this small waterfall, and the rocks next to it looked suspicious from the start." "I tell you this: I had no idea what it was, but it looked like it was worth a closer inspection. By the way... WHERE IS MY RUM, DAMMIT?! That said, I had what I needed, and I can promise you this: the explosion was heard all over Argentia!" "Now I only have to find out what those gems actually are. And you know what else I need to find out? WHERE MY §$%&ING RUM IS!!!" ========================================================================================== With this build I stake a claim on the island of Argentia, near Mesabi Landing. I know I have to pay 25DB, but to whom? And how? Solved, and done. Also: when will I get the information on what the mine contains? As always, there are a few more pictures behind the spoiler tag:
  4. Beautiful build, as always. Very impressive! I would suggest licensing it as "art & culture", because I see it as a monument to the glory of Oleon - clearly a work of both art and culture. The footprint seems to be roughly 20x50 by my count, so medium.
  5. Welcome Merc. That is a very well written introduction. As Bregir mentioned, the "writing a letter home" idea is a great one. The build going with it is also nice, I especially like the chandelier above. I am looking forward to more from you and your character, even if you have chosen the wrong colours.
  6. @Bregir: How did you get the curvature of the hull so smooth?
  7. Indeed, there is no "N" in "WTC".
  8. Very nice! It looks like it could actually work, well done. And a distillery is obviously mandatory for pirates Sea Rats! While we are on the topic of distilling equipment: are there any appropriate steel or copper coloured Lego parts available? Otherwise I had to "paint" the distillery pots and use other parts, but I would prefer an authentical look.
  9. Understood. Tanks for the quick responses! Now the question is: do I support @Mesabi and the WTC, or @SilentWolf and the WETEC? Suggestions and/or bribes via PM or in the Corrington PM thread please!
  10. Excellent, thanks. What is the difference between a trade company and an officially chartered trade company, and how do you get to "second level"? The EGS rules seem to only mention the first one.
  11. So if I understand it correctly, as an example: @Mesabi could license three properties as Count Mesabi, three more by Mesabi Landing, and another three by the WTC. Is that right?
  12. While we are on this topic: is there a way to license more than three properties a month? For example: can settlements, instead of players, give out licenses to properties in or around them? Or is it possible to buy additional licenses by paying a premium on them?
  13. If that works out, it is definitely fine by me, thank you.
  14. I just learned about it. There were some more licenses (Arlinsport reading room, Cole residence). I hope I can clear this up, but not today. If one of the Powers That Be reads this: please PM me, and if in doubt the Weelond licenses can be cancelled for now.
  15. I was not at all aware of that. The license property form never mentions that, and my account balance always happily complied to all licenses I bought (i.e. took my dubloons). Can you point me to that rule please? Found it. Still leaves me wondering why there is no "safeguard" implemented in the licensing system. How can I get my money back, and what properties will be kept?
  16. Three properties were licensed in Weelond just minutes ago: A monument to beer - small arts & culture. Bread and water? Nah! - small commerce An end with a big bang! - small artisan
  17. That was fast, thank you! I have just licensed all three entries.
  18. I say we nuke them from orbit, it's the only way to be sure... what do you mean, "wrong era"? I will follow this with great interest.
  19. Entry 3 of 3: an end with a big bang. This was a fun challenge, and I want to thank @Capt Wolf again for extending the deadline. I am sorry for my very late entries, but a big pile of necessary parts only arrived yesterday! I have a hectic day of building, picturemaking and posting behind me, but I got it done in time. I am already looking forward to next year - with better planning from my side for sure.
  20. With his father still occupied by roasted pig and cold beer, Billy made his way to Old Chens firework shop. Billy had heard that there was a big firework in the making, and wanted to check it out. When he arrived, Old Chen was talking to other Octoberfest visitors: "Hello young Billy! You come just in time. As I have explained to this fine lady a minute ago, I was about to do a test for tonights show. You might enjoy it. Watch carefully!" "And off it goes! You can not see much of it in daylight, but watch the sky above town tonight at the ninth hour." While Old Chen had been occupied with the torch and the rocket, and the bystanders with their attention on this scene, nobody noticed a movemnt behind the house... Old Chen continued: "Have patience during the fireworks. And pay special attention to the white one: my absolute favourite, witht the fireball looking like diamonds sprinkled all over the sky." Billy asked: "What white one though?" "?? ... !!! ... §%§%$§#!" "Ah well, one less piece of spectacle for everybody else then. I just hope nothing bad comes out of this... still, watch the fireworks, it will still end with a big finale!" ======== Later that night, the settlement of Weelond lay under a full moon. Then, exactly as promised, the firework started, lighting the sky up in all colours of the rainbow: After a serious of loud explosions, the night fell silent again, but only for a moment... ... before the grand finale ended it all. Everybody was left awed, and could not wait for next years Octoberfest in Weelond, truly a festivity to remember! ================================================================================================ This is my third entry (of three) for this years Octoberfest mini-challenge. It consists of basically two scenes: the fireworks shop (licensable as a small artisan), and the "city at night" with additional builds for the fireworks. Sorry @Mesabi, there is no inside of the building, for stability reasons. The city scene was my first ever microbuild, and while it is not that great, it gets the scene across I was trying to achieve. Building the fireworks was big fun, even though my poor photo skills can not bring them across properly. Take it for what it is: an idea I tried to get done as good as I can. Could it be done better? Of course, but not with what I have in terms of bricks and photography. I hope people enjoy it anyway! As usual, more pictures hidden by a spoiler tag: If somebody wants to use the stolen rocket in a story: please do so, but let me know via PM first. The fireworks shop will be licensed as a small artisan. First I need more money though.
  21. Entry 2 of 3 of mine: not bread and water. Have fun!
  22. After the spectacle at The Mug, Billy and his father went on to one of the many food stands. This one had quickly become famous for its roasted pig and excellent beer - some meat for the young one, a glass of icecold beer (or two) for the father. While the customers, young and old, (including a certain piraty Dark Knight) enjoyed their roasted delicacies and the fine beer... ... the employees had to work hard to keep up with the high demand: The only one most certainly not enjoying the time was the poor pig. At least it had it warm and cosy: ================================================================================================ This is my second entry (of three) for this years Octoberfest mini-challenge. A classical Octoberfest scene, except maybe for Batman. A light brick is responsible for the fire effect, and the mechanism to turn the pig actually works: The roof of the foodstand can be easily removed: Some more pictures behind the spoiler tag: I will license this as a small commerce soon. Ish.
  23. Great build, really capturing the spirit and mood of an actual Greek temple. The ornaments are not overdone, which I like. And that archway pattern just looks great. Well done!
  24. Entry 1 of 3 for me: a monument to beer. Enjoy!
