Thanks! Anchors are an element I tend to forget, but I remembered on this ship! -

[GoC - Sloops for the RN] Class 3 Cutter From the shipyards of Quinnsville comes a ship built for greatness. A ship that is intended to serve in Her Majesty's Royal Navy and protect the shipping of Corlander businesses. To answer the call of Rear-Admiral Fletcher to build ships to protect the interests of the Crown, a cutter rigged vessel has been crafted from the fine timbers of Cocovia. Cutter 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The Ship is but lightly armed with 6 four pounders, but offers plenty of maneuverability thanks to its cutter rigging. Cutter 4 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Such a small vessel doesn't require a ships wheel, but merely a tiller to control the ships course. Cutter 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Currently, she is only staffed with a bare-bones crew as she makes her way to the other side of Cocovia to join the ranks of the greatest navy in the Brick Seas. Cutter 5 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr ------------------------------------------ My first entry towards the GoC Oaken Shield Tasks. I am quite happy how the vessel turned out, especially considering my limited real brick collection, but there is always room for improvement. C&C are welcome and apprecieated and thanks for looking! @Ayrlego @Bregir @SilentWolf @Captain Dee

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II

Welcome to the Brick Seas @Count Vroskri! Looking good so far. To make life a bit easier while sailing the seas, here a few tips you may find helpful: 1. Get yourself an account on a picture hosting site. A few good options are Flickr (My personal favorite), Imgur, or Brickshelf. From here you can easily post as many pictures as you want for your storytelling. 2. For your sigfig intro, as @Darnok said, a picture or two of your character with either a few sentences (or paragraphs ) about him and some tidbits from his past should be adquate. 3. Ask lots of questions! While this is just a excuse for us adults to play with toys () we've developed quite a fun game. There are lots of elements to it as well. 4. A good place to start is the Quick start guide and the master index is useful for getting caught up on the events that have transpired thus far. 5. Most importantly, have fun! That's the main reason we're all doing this anyway! -
[GoC - FB - COR] All Hail the Queen!
LM71Blackbird replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Even with my real bricks I tend to put everything in their left hand! Looking at them from the front makes it seem like it's their right hand. I'm glad you like it overall! -

[GoC - FB - COR] All Hail the Queen! The beginning of fall is a most joyous occasion throughout Corrington. From the hills and valleys of the Motherland to the jungles and swamps of the isle settlements, every Corlander joins in on the celebrations that come with the birthday of Her majesty, Queen Annetta of Corrington! Arch 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Major Nathaniel Brickford has arrived back in the city of Quinnsville just in time to partake of the festivities by leading a parade in honor of the Queen. Riding along is his father and mayor of Quinnsville, Richard Brickford. Arch 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The parade is starting at the Sir Smaugton Arch - named after the first mayor and discoverer of Quinnsville - the official entrance to Quinnsville. From here they will march to the parade grounds where the real festivities will begin! --------------------------------------- GoC Reviewer recommended edits: increased variety in terrain and tree. Horse armor removed and all troops are now right handed. @SilentWolf Arch 3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr --------------------------------------- This is a two-for-one build! A celebration of the Queens birthday as well as my final entry to the Glory of Corrington task #1 Redcoats Rule. C&C are welcome and apprecieated and thanks for looking. All hail the Queen! @Captain Dee @Bregir @SilentWolf @Ayrlego

Ahoy! Likewise! -
I voted for number 2. The fact that he has been wandering around on an island for 18 months means that story wise you could do just about anything you wanted. Was he held prisoner by natives, did he find a port and go to sea, or has he been enjoying the simple things of life and living off the land? The options are nearly endless!

This is an island you'd try to trick your enemies to go visit on vacation... Nice build and entertaining write-up! -

No, I appreciate it! I enjoy shipbuilding but I still have a lot of techniques to learn, so any help I can get is really enlightening. The HMS Fly is definitely a better reference point as well. I do have to ask though... What in the world is the Bumblebee method?? -

Ah, I see... unfortunately, the extent of my hinge plates and bricks are already in use (not very many, I know!), so I'll have to get more and try it out on another build. Very loosely, this is the ship I'm using for inspiration. -

^^ What do you mean by this exactly? ^^ I did some research and lengthened the mast, and I'm going to experiment with a tumblehome. Also, I definitely think your right about a tiller instead of a wheel. -

I've got a ship in the works, a 6-gun cutter (I think a cutter fits it best??) Any suggestions and/or things I should change before moving forward on the build? 20190909_212921 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr 20190909_212928 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr 20190909_212943 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr -
