  1. Some of it is just weird to me... But then again, I live in the cold north of the East Coast, USA, so we don't really have stuff like that anywhere around here. Europe and Asia has all kinds of different stuff I didn't even know/think about until I took a trip over to France, Germany, and Switzerland just this August. Beautiful countries be the way! IRL, I'm actually a licensed minister (Perform marriages, baptisms, etc.). So if and when I build religious stuff for BoBs it will probably be a classic style of church (think Notre Dame) rather then a temple or shrine to this or that. Just my 2 cents though. Ah, yes... I know exactly what you mean...
  2. A most interesting edition of the KPA indeed. Fantastic work @Capt Wolf and well worth the wait! Which direction is Loti? I'm asking for a friend who wants to send them a "fireworks show" of sorts... Oh yes it will...
  3. Two ways. I either just take the easy way out and don't build, or I make myself build something even if I know that it is going to be garbage. Usually, after getting through one or two ugly builds or failed techniques, I'm able to make something I quite like!
  4. Nicely done! I like the hull shaping and that brick built cannon is great.
  5. It's not a bad set by any means, I just would have like to see one or more of the other builds produced instead. Like the SR71 Blackbird for example.
  6. Beautiful looking ship so far @The Neighborhood Merchant! My newest WIP ship, a 22 gun frigate. Working name is the HMS Black Panther. I'm pretty happy with the tumble home and overall curve she has so far. The masts seem pretty good as well, or at the very least within a few studs of proper. Still have all the deck details, crew, and sails to add. Any bits of advice before I get to far into the detail process? Frigate 3.2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr
  7. Dr. Pepper or Root Beer! I'm stoked that it got approved! I think LEGO is really picking some good set ideas after the whole Women of NASA thing... Now if only I could afford to get the Treehouse and the Pirate Bay!
  8. Thanks! Yeah, the zero gravity effect lack of stability needs is handy on some builds! Thanks! I was going for a well proportioned vessel and I think I achieved that. I agree about the steering oar. It would add some more outward detail, but most gunboats of this size would have been able to turn in a circle by simply rowing. To Rear-admiral Fletcher, I am most pleased that the handy-work of our hardworking shipwrights meets you quality standards. I will personally make sure it is ferried to King's Harbour as soon as possible so that it can join the Island defense fleet. The shipyards of Quinnsville are back to their high output status, so before the week is out you should have another, lets say, much larger and more capable vessel to review. 9. Thank you! I spent a lot of time figuring out the proper sail pattern for a cutter before doing the rigging. I'm glad that it came out nicely! And thanks for the helpful tips, they be handy on my future builds! Thank you! It's the bricks I have so It's what I build. I'm glad it turned out well!
  10. Thanks, I'm glad that you like it! Hopefully we can get a few more entries to the contest as well soon.
  11. As Darnok stated, a very clean looking build! Great details even without my greenery.
  12. I'm excited about the pirate bay. Sure hope it makes it. I thread for dedicated chitchat would nice, I agree!
  13. Thank you! The hats do exist, not sure if they come in the black with tan stripe though...
  14. Thanks! The boat I used for inspiration was about the same design with less oarsman! A side rudder may be a nice addition as well.
  15. Thank you! I'm quite happy with how the whole thing turned out in the end. Sails are a hard part for me, so I'm glad you like how they turned out!
  16. Thanks! I hope so too! Thanks!
  17. A really great series of builds. Each one show a distinct difference from the last and truely captures the spirit of each settlement. Well done!
  18. A wonderful build indeed! Great details on the stone tower!
  19. Thanks @Wellesley! There is no rudder aboard, Just manpower! And I'm quite pleased with how well the flat stern works as well.

  21. [GoC - Gunboats for the RN] Gunboat proving Following the recent launch of a cutter class vessel for the Royal Navy, Quinnsville's smaller shipyards have just launched a gunboat and are currently proving her before towing her to Kings Harbour for use by the Royal Navy. RN Gunboat 1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The large, lone 24 pounder carried in stern is more than adequate to inflict serious damage to anyone with ill intent toward the settlements and shipping of Corrington. RN Gunboat 2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The Royal Navy will find vessels such as this one to be very useful for defending costal waters and if enough can be built, even the mighty frigates are no match for these small but powerful crafts. ---------------------------------- Another entry for the GoC! This one is for the Oaken Shield/Gunboats for the colonies task. C&C are welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking! @Bregir @Ayrlego @SilentWolf @Captain Dee
  22. Thanks! I tried to pick a picture that best represents each faction. Corrington is doing some tactical planning. The Sea Rats are sailing the seas. Olean has the Royal Family. And Eslandola has their center of power in the form of the Colonial Council.
