  1. I can: Its only 1 stud longer, and perfectly capable of supporting the gears under heavy load - in fact, if you added 2 more 1x4 half-beams, it would make it even stronger!
  2. Oh, why didn't you make it out of original Lego parts? - I can think of at least one way to make it...
  3. Oh, I see what you meant now... The old type of driving ring actually has 5 positions, so if the middle position is skipped, then yes, they would have 4 positions. They can just, if they are held close to the centre position - if they are left loose, they will engage the clutch gears just slightly, though they will still run if any torque is applied.
  4. Look at the video at ~0.40, you can see how the pulley wheels move the gear shifters alternately via the liftarms.
  5. Have you tried LPub3D? It's much easier to use than the standard LPub...
  6. What is that grey part? I've never seen it before...
  7. Is it this one? - is the only one that I could find that might be adjusted for 60 degree steps...
  8. Sure! - if I can find it... I should really make a topic for my safes, as I have a few of them, and plan to make more...
  9. Cool! It looks like it's very fun to play with! It would be good to see some photos...
  10. Looks good, but why didn't you add a linkage to tilt the forks? Also...
  11. Thanks, I will make sure to try that next time!
  12. OMG That is quite amazing! It's only the Brick-figures that are rendered...
  13. Very nice, and very cute! - I think that's a perfect combination! I think I might suffer from it too, as I'm always trying to make the smallest, most compact MOCs I can... But personally I think that's a good thing to do, as it pushes your creative parts usage. Although of course, you will eventually end up with some ridiculously small MOCs - I have still got the smallest working safe I ever made, but at only 4x6 studs, I think it might be a bit too small...
  14. I have had many small injuries building with Lego, but most recently, I was trying to remove a 6x10 plate from a MOC, when I slipped, and hit the knuckle of my thumb on the corner of the plate - which resulted in a very painful (and bleeding) dint in my thumb... But, I have never stepped on a brick...
  15. I agree, it's very easy to miss the page changing buttons... But then again, it might be due to most of the builder's wackiness draining into his original idea!
  16. Congratulations to all the winners, though really, everyone should be happy for what they have achieved. I know I am, as I achieved my goal of being in the top 10! But most importantly, I built something that I would have never even considered before, and it turned out to be one of the best MOCs I have ever made - which of course, is something I am very proud of. Oh, and a quick heads up to anyone that wants to build the Banana Scorpion: There will be instructions...
  17. So I guess that means it's some top secret staff/judges stuff then...
  18. Yeah, that's really annoying... I don't know... where could I check it? That makes sense...
  19. Oh yeah, I didn't even think that you can still add votes to the total...
  20. Great! There's just one thing I'm wondering, why hasn't the voting topic been locked?
  21. Well yes, that is a lot to render... But here's some suggestions to reduce the render time: (other than decreasing the resolution) only use a maximum of 3 lights, but change them to area lights - they should actually look better than the 8 lights you currently have. remove some of the internal bricks from the model - because if they're never going to be seen, why render them? I assume so, as I never adjusted it myself... But you can always preview the animation in LDCad, so you can make any adjustments before exporting to POV-Ray. Thanks for the tip! I tried so much to get rid of the shiny finish, I never thought it would be affected by the color... But just one question, where exactly do I change it? - in LDCad, or in POV-Ray?
  22. Wow, that was a lot longer than I was expecting! The render I did (above) only took about 6 hours (for the same 360 frames, at 640x480), and I'm only using a basic laptop! What resolution are you rendering at? - I makes a LOT of difference to the rendering time... GIMP, which is the same program I use for all my photo editing.
  23. Here's two things you can try: Run the POV-Ray render again, just in case there was a glitch in the system. Load the model into LDCad, apply the "Camera test" animation, and then export the POV-Ray animation, which you can then render. Which will look like this: (after a few tweaks to the ini file)
  24. I thought of that too (and I would prefer it over 9398), but... Lego is never going to re-release a limited edition set...
