Yeah where's a video? :O I only know of the The Brick Show "video" where there is no real video at all, he's just talking.

The cargo train does sound interesting indeed. I really liked the 60052 so I too don't mind a recolor of it. The cars sound good too and 5 Minifigs isn't bad for a City Train Set. Overall, 60052 was a great set so what gives? Already I'm not majorly interested in the passenger train. Passenger trains could be made so interesting, with twin deck cars and twin-cab engines but nooooo it has to be freakin high-speed-streamline-duplo-one-brick-crap. I can almost not express the dislike I have for these passenger trains. What remains is the 250€ set. But I don't want to get my hopes up.

The suspense is real! The speculation is so much fun. Can't wait for Jan 31st :O But I don't want to get my hopes up too much. The cargo train, I'm sure, will be somewhat good. I don't think it will be nearly as good as 60052 but good nevertheless. Those never disappointed me before. The passenger train on the other hand... I hope to see something that isn't entirely made out of a single brick. If I wanted something like that I'd get a duplo train. A station is nice but I highly doubt Lego would offer two stations... so I don't think we'll get a "grand station" or something. I'd totally get one, but I don't think they're releasing two stations. I'm pretty sure this 250€ set isn't even a trains set.

To be honest, after a while of research and thinking I came to the following conclusion: 9V is dead. If you want 9V track, buy genuine Lego 9V off of ebay or bricklink. 3rd party electric track has been absolutely poor both in sales and quality. A better way would be to develop a hybrid system, like @legoman666 said. One that runs of a rechargable battery which picks up energy from the track when it's running on 9V track and uses saved energy from the battery to run on plastic track - for which there is a great selection of amazing 3rd party track! In my opinion this is probably the best way forward.

a 250€ shed? That'd better be a 7-8 track wide monster shed.
-
Yeah... I wouldn't hold my breath on a creator expert train tbh. All the expert trains were numbered beginning with 1. I highly doubt Lego is going to change that now. It's really difficult to tell what that set it going to be but there's also a high chance, it will not be a train set at all! As far as I know, this mystery 250€ set isn't necessarily a train set.

But I like the idea of the use of the new roller coaster track for a train of some sort. Maybe a fair-ground-narrow-gauge train or something idk... :D

Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory investigates the Castering Effect
McWaffel replied to Hod Carrier's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This is great! I really like the effort put into it. It would be really interesting to see if the vehicles behave differently if weight is added. Can you post more detailed pictures of the axles, so I can get an idea of how they work?- 78 replies

Looking good so far. The roof looks a bit bland to me. I would add some Snot-Style skylights. That would also make it more interesting for people to look inside to see what's going on in the station.

Hey at least we know for certain, we're getting a new passenger train! :O That's great news. Let's just hope it'll be a good one. I didn't like any of the passenger trains that were released after the Santa Fe. With the exception of the Expert Models of course.

So to quote @Brick Lover 60197 will cost $149 and the 60198 is running at $249... How much did the Horizon Express cost at the time? Or the Emerald Night?
-
That would be horrible. For my wallet.

Sorry for the long wait, it's been busy at work lately, very few trains were running. So here's the promised video: We have automatic shades that come down when the sun is shining into the building. So I'm all good ;)

What do you mean by "driveable"? Do you mean powered? You would need some sort of motor. But connecting an external, fixed-in-position-motor to a moving axle/bogie is not going to be easy, if possible at all... since you aren't going to use single-axle bogies anymore, why not use a normal PF train motor?

@Capparezza @3797 According to most people in this forum, Sir von Lego has never failed to deliver before... I wouldn't bet my life on it but I have good feeling about this

The return of a "Trains Sub Theme" for the city theme has been confirmed by Sir von Lego about 2-3 months ago. So hold your horses
-
Simple yet so efficient! I like it very much. I didn't even know you could use seats like this :D
-
That's actually not true! The Winter Village train has red wheels in "standard size" for the front Bogie. There's 4 of them in the set.

I think rubber bands could work but: If they are too weak they won't fix the problem, if they are too strong they keep the wheels straight all the time. I highly doubt you will find rubber bands in the right size and strength for this application. The real train most likely has fixed axles too and so should your model.

Tunnels only come out underneath buildings, if the rest of the city is above the level of the trains running... That's not the case with Lego cities.
-
I agree, something like this is super unlikely to be released as a modular. Although a terminus could work as a modular... 2 Track wide and people would buy 2 to make it 4 wide. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kickstarter: ME Models Tracks for both metal and ABS only track pieces
McWaffel replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
taking money from orders and not delivering the product is a scam. If you pledge on kickstarter and you don't receive anything, that's your own fault. The risk of investment is that sometimes there's no return. But if you place actual orders and you pay the sum and receive nothing, not even your money back, that's just daylight robbery. -

At this point ME really sounds like a scam to me. In future I will hold back and wait until more than just a few people ordered and received before I even think about placing orders for anything 3rd party. Although I have to say, 4D Brix really did it for me. I was in very close contact with them and it all went super smoothly. Which to me just shows it can be done properly but at the first signs of trouble I'm out. -
Very nice. I really like the colors you chose and how you did the staircase. I love symmetry a lot. I rate 10/10 would visit station :P

WOW! This is mind blowing! Just wonderful in every way! How did you do the gold trim on the wheels?
