[WIP] Aventador Ultimae 1:8 MOC
SNIPE replied to _JW_'s topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looking good, Yes, making a nose lift/adjustable ride height is extremley hard because the shocks are just so stiff that if you try to compress them, it will, due to backlash, start to move the ride height mechanism. Even a worm gear still has enough backlash to move the ride height to its lowest position, and that (in my case) was with an extra hard 6.5L shock, never mind these new ultra hard shocks. One idea might be something like this, though it still has a lot of backlash: -

I may be able to change the color using a hex editor, or a resource editor. Gimme a few days to see if I have time. -

Anyway here's some tricks I found: I wouldn't reccomend putting that old white wheel inside of the black 5 hole ring cause it stresses the plastic (until it snaps in that is)- 5,465 replies

I still don't see them. LEGO's service and website SUCK and they have sucked for a few months now. First my 42143 arrives stupidly late. Yes that was DPD's fault too but both LEGO and DPD were lying and being useless over the phone/twitter support. It arrived a MONTH late but the promotional set came around half way in between then, just on its own! Then I try and buy 2 trains which were in stock, got to the checkout and then the 'confirm purchase' button was grayed out, and I spent half an hour trying to figure out why. So I was therefore denied not only the 2 trains but the 2 promotional sets that came with each train as well as my VIP points NOW they can't even have a PAB website that isn't stupidly slow and dimwitted. The PAB website also has no new parts on it, not even from january, some even from last sodding year!!. I ended up using smyths.co.uk for the 2 lime passenger trains and airbus rescue helicopter. I most likley will in future.- 5,465 replies

LOL LEGO are retarded again!, I was wondering when they were gonna do that again!. So now they basically make the 60 tooth turn table, useless 80% of the time. They make it only a spur gear and not a bevel gear. They did this on a set that does not even have a driven turntable (LAZY). SO now it's basically like the old 56 tooth turntable. I wonder when they will realize that they goofed up and go back to the original 60 tooth mold (which should, along with the mini turntable be a DOUBLE BEVEL setup anyhow) What if somebody wants to build a set out of parts they already own , now they can't! because the instructions will use the older bevelled 60 tooth turntable but they have the dumb new version. I bet you can't even put a chain on the new spur gear remold of the 60 tooth turntable!. I can't for the life of me think of a reason to make this change.- 5,465 replies

Technic 2022 Set Discussion
SNIPE replied to Technicallism's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I assume you mean this Yeah we need more sets that use this tyre!. -
I just realized, we could use these parts to make tapered looking blades of any length/various colors: 89679 , 71682 , 11946 I would use black in this case, and to connect everything: black 2L and 3L axles, black pinhole with 2 opposing axles, black #1 connector. Or if you are just using the 89679 1x2 panels then five 32L axles , a pinhole with single axle and a #2 connector It will be expensive though either way!. edit: like this:

I'm trying to add a spring that is just placed over an axle that I took from the soft 6.5L shock absorbers (because you know my deal I'm purist) But im getting stuck a lot because it can't be too wide otherwise it will look weird, or it will not allow the technic bricks assembly to attach. Or because it is not locking in place, Or because it is too flimsy due to the axle having too much wobble Or because the axle is spinning which it should not, the rear wheels do not steer. And I also tried adding steering to the front wheels and not even the spring yet and that again, was not locking in place properly, or the wheels and tires were hitting off the assembly. Ugh This is not an easy thing.

I gotta say, the instructions for this set get terrible once you get to the seats, and beyond. They expect you to build a whole subassembly with weirdly placed parts at weird angles then they just skip to how it connects after being flipped, to the car without showing an image of what the finished subassembly looks like!. The seats don't say that you have to connect at 90 degrees to something that is already at 45 degrees. S So if you just connect it straight, you will do it wrong. I hope to finish the car before the 10th which is when I open the 42145 airbus helicopter..

Yeah I was going to do a PAB order, but since lego are being so useless recently, I'll use bricklink instead. And I use smyths toys to buy sets.- 5,465 replies

Ok, I tested again and now, while it does mesh, it keeps jamming but is very tempremental, sometimes it looks like it is working fine and does not jam, other times it jams instantly. I Had more time to test today, yesterday I was busy building the 42143. This is a damn shame, a damn shame because we need gears that are more different sizes. The black double bevel gear does not mesh at all so it is still different to the new blue 12 tooth gear, also meshes with another blue 12 tooth gear if you have 2 cross blocks spaced with a 5L thin liftarm with all pinholes, where as if you do that with the 12 tooth double gears they have too much friction. (but using say, half bushes is slightly thicker so that works)- 5,465 replies

I may post a video, I may be able to easily take the 12T from the ferraris steering that I'm currently building. All I can say until then is, it does mesh perfectly but it does mesh, probably enough for most applications like gearboxes and function gearboxes, If you plan on using it in a big digger like the bucket wheel excavator, or the liebherr then yes you'll probably get skipping.- 5,465 replies
