The Lego stores here don't have the BAM areas out since covid. Hopefully soon they will come back out.

I was hoping for a king without the crown just in some regal attire and a civilian. I'm good with civilians. I will take any castle figs we can get at this point.

Nice design. I like the use of the trans-blue pieces. The texturing and the different size columns add nice depth to the build. I like the green baseplate. The seaweed pieces are a nice detail. The statues look great. The treasure looks tempting for a hungry dragon or treasure seeker.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
zoth33 replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The squid head piece is too colorful for me. Hopefully down the line they use some more earthy tones with grey, blue, green or brown. I would even like red or a dark purple. The dragon head and wings look great. Some of the hairpieces look great too. The fairy's do look really good and I like those mermaid tail, they both have great prints. -
It's a 3in1 set the figs aren't the focal point. We were hoping for a king but we didn't get one. The other fig is just a civilian. They won't put out a polybag for this. We will just have to hope for more ideas sets at this point.

Good looking scene. I like the colors of the castle wall, the archway looks good. The ram and the catapult are neat. All the figs look good too.

The figs are really the highlight here. The sets are good. There are a lot of interesting pieces too. Will try to pick up some of the figs or fig parts.

[LEGO Ideas] "Forgotten Island" by llucky (@kahuka_islander)

Very nice islander set. Good luck on the idea's project, it has a great design and looks fantastic. The use of the small round and partial round tile pieces is wonderful and gives a great aesthetic to the build. -
Excellent work here. The colors look great. This is designed very well, I like the slope up to the main gate. The crane, stairs, and the door to underneath are all great details. This reminds me of the mountain fortress set from the castle line back in the 90's.

Lucasfilm: Willow (1988) Tir Asleen Castle 🏰 [LEGO IDEAS]
zoth33 replied to MasterStud's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great idea. Supported. This is such a fun movie. General Kael was my favorite as I always seem to like the villains as they were usually the more interesting characters. Val Kilmer was great in this movie and Warwick Davis is an Icon. The details are great. The castle looks spot on. This was such a great scene in the movie. I love when Mad Martigan yells at the troll. The 2 headed beast looks good but the body could be a little thicker just looks to thin. Other than that this is wonderful.- 15 replies

Looks good cant wait to get it. Definitely interesting builds and will fit in any castle town or city. Like the windmill and the mill features. Tower looks good too. I too think the colors of the brick built banners are a weird choice but it is and easy fix to take out the red and put in blue. Might buy 2 to have a decent size village.

Lovely build. I really like the tree, the thick trunk stands out. The base looks great with the layering of the slopes. The little chapel looks good with the nexo knight shield tile roof. This does give off vibes of the old black monarch ghost set.

It's the william shakespear fig from the lego movie cmf.

The similar torso to the thespian in dark red also works well for elves. Are you looking to make different factions? I am currently using the atlantians from the aquaman set as sea elves. I am also using some ninjago torsos like princess vania for my moon elves. I also am using some of the prince of persia torsos for desert elves and using gamora's brown torso backwards as a desert elf.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

tan horses are available -
Hulk is more than twice a person size. Cull Obsidian also. Thanos is also big definitely at least twice the size of Tony Stark. I think the bigfigs are good for characters of that size but for others the Axl thing would work.

Nice little build. I like the cart and the harness. Interesting posting spot too.

Love the design of this build. The color choices are perfect. The blue wing/flap pieces are a great visual effect. The tree design is great and the foliage looks wonderful, the layering of the leaf pieces looks really good. Are the torsos on the elf figs roman soldier torsos? All the figs look great, the elf with half the scarred face is excellent and the centaurs with the orc torsos works really well.

Nice build. I like the little bridge and the stream. The color of the tower is good with the tan bits in there. I also like the windows and the fact you can take the tower apart.

@Toastie I will look into trying them again. I just didn't like what i had gotten before. The real deterrent for me is the figs. I mean I can easily get parts I need on bricklink or B@P. I'm just not going to buy sets that have useless figs. So it might be awhile until I find something that looks good enough to buy.

That's my point though if these clone brands don't hold up to my Lego what's the point in buying them. I do use Brickwarriors accessories and i like their quality. I'm not going to buy off brands just because they are cheaper, the quality has to be there and for me I love customizing minifigs so if the parts aren't useful then it's not worth it. I have sets that are still in together mainly LOTR and the Hobbit sets. The rest I use the parts for MOC's so the parts and colors need to be good. If parts are flimsy it doesn't work for me as they just don't sit on a shelf somewhere. I'm using parts for builds they need to be sturdy and good clutch power if they are flimsy the build won't work for me anyway.
-
How long have you had the Mega sets? Do the colors fade? Does the clutch power hold? I had some D@D sets and wasn't impressed with the quality at all and the figs are horrible. The figs for Masters of the Universe still look wonky to me. Maybe the quality is better I might pick up a set to see for myself. But I was not Happy with the Drizzt fig and the parts were just bad and felt cheap and flimsy.

That's why I think Ninjago works so well with the different characters being easily relatable to kids. I think Nexo knights just tried to follow Ninjago to closely and that's why it didn't last. I mean both shows have a tech savvy girl character and a dark brooding character, and a funny guy. With Ninjago you can see the characters growing and advancing each season. I haven't watched the Elves show yet so I have no reference there. Legends of Chima was different but seemed to cringey even for kids at times, I mean my son liked the show but some of the characters and plots were bad. Some of the characters were good and good story arc's. Hidden side had some good and bad too. The 2 main characters could be annoying at times. The plot of the show was a good idea. I wish they had expanded to more ghost realms in my opinion. Hopefully if they decide to bring castle back and with a show it has some interesting and intriguing characters that keep your attention. I think that would be the main thing to keep people engaged in the show and the sets with characters that have a realism to them and something in each character that you can't put your finger on yet. I think developing the characters stories would be key and could lead to some very interesting stories and sets. I just don't want your basic quirky wizard as always, I want a more complex character with some depth you could get invested in like giving him/her a long lost child or possibly having had to battle a love interest in a war in the past. Or even make the wizard an ex-knight or something like that. Or even having a hero that embraces the fact that he/she is the hero revels in the challenge instead of not wanting to be the hero or king/queen. Just something new would be nice. You could even have the villain the main character and tell the story from that side would be interesting.

Yeah just think of the possibilities with this style. Lego could do something really good with an in-house castle theme and really give us something different color wise like dark blue, dark green, dark red, sand green, nougat, etc. I really hope I can get some helms from the chess set on B&P if they are on there. Right now HP, Marvel and Ninjago are giving me some great options for figs, heads, weapons for customization. HP and Ninjago are giving some great parts too. I really do hope by 2022 we get word that at least something fantasy or castle is coming.
-
The new Harry potter chess set has some great swords and helms in new colors and here's to hoping with all these new recolors that we will get an actual castle theme someday with even more recolors and parts. I really want the new sword in a different color. Hope to see pics soon of the 3in1 set soon.
