Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
zoth33 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
No they are loosely based on real life like city but like I said before it's getting very insane out there. I just hope Lego doesn't go down a path like this worrying that they will offend someone as someone will always be offended. I think sets will suffer if they do. -
Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion

So you think the little yellow plastic guy is representing a real person. I was playing with lego with guns and weapons for a long time. Your logic once again makes no sense how many kids play fortnite and I'm not talking teenagers. Kids play all kinds of violent games and there is violence all over this world. These children you speak of are playing violent games on their phones, computers, consoles. Your bringing real life into it. You have to separate real life from the unreal. We all grew up seeing violence, playing video games watching movies etc with violence in them. Also by that logic castle, wild west and pirates should never exist again as it shows human on human violence. So you think that kids that have explosives or guns in a city set aren't the same kids buying infinity war, spider-man, batman, endgame sets and that they can't distinguish the difference between reality and what is made up. I just don't see the logic here. -
Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion

Everything is offensive these days. Also are these the same people flooding the movie theaters watching infinity war and endgame or any other movie with violence in it? All people are hypocrites we all say we don't do this or that and have done the same thing in the past. I mean come on Dr Seuss, speedy gonzalez, and pepe le pew are all now offensive. To many people are over sensitive about things, If you don't like something change the channel or bon't buy the item and move on. I mean by your logic no toy maker should have ever made GI joe, thundercats, masters of the universe, marvel or DC and so on and so on. I mean the amount of violence in Marvel and DC alone should warrant lego dropping them now. Next thing you know people will find trees offensive or your food or the fact you look like some criminal. What's next Monkie kid is offensive to Monkeys? Where does it end? -
The journey of Parzival - Desert Daylight (Chapter II, part I)

The layered rock work is great. The color combinations work very well together. I like the way you also layered the vegetation to go with the layering of the rocks. Good story to accompany the build. -
[LEGO Ideas] The Forestmen's Secret Inn

This looks great. Reminds me of the 80's and 90's growing up but with new updated pieces and techniques. I will definitely support. -
How can you not count it as it's available to everyone. It doesn't matter if it wasn't supposed to be or not. It's available. You can't discount it to fit your narrative.

Ancient Greece or Egypt would be epic with all the Mythological creatures. I did like Pharaoh's Quest and have the pyramid it's a nice build but there are so many other structures they could build for both themes. There are so many possibilities with sets, figs, vehicles(like carts, chariots, seige engines)they could easily make sets for years. I think kids would love it too. Definitely Afol's would love it. I'm hoping for pics soon the the 3in1 castle set to see what the alternate builds are.

Nice use of red bricks here. Simple yet nicely done. I like the way you did the apples. The little flowers around give a nice splash of color. Good looking figs too.

This is really nice. I love the way you did the base. That little pond is neat. The stone work and roof on the cottage really stand out to me, the stone looks great the way some of the bricks are crooked, looks real. The chimney is layered well. The little brown mushrooms are fantastic. The vegetation on the roof is a great detail. Nice bird nest in the tree too.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

You can't order online from Lego itself? -
Game of Thrones is way to adult oriented for Lego to even think about and the last season was a hot mess. A lot of the actors/actresses had issues with the way they were killed off or the way their story arc ended. I personally did not like that they didn't have Jon Snow and the Night King at least fight for a little bit, that was extremely disappointing as it was built up for so long. Cersei and Varys' endings were horrible just to mention a few. As for the Witcher. I thought it was fine. A little hard to follow the timeline if you weren't paying attention. I think season 2 will be better. LOTR was already done by lego and they might be able to acquire the license again. As far as the show goes if they ruin Tolkien's works they won't get far. The one ring.net has updates on the shows progress but a lot of people on there and other sites are really worried with casting and the possibility of people pushing their agenda's on the show itself instead of staying true to Tolkien's work. I will hold judgement until the show comes out. There was also a lot of grumbling about the Witcher casting as well. House of Dragon could be good but once again the talk of sjw and agenda pushing in that show also. So once again if they don't stay true to the source material with some added things to keep it fresh it will be a dumpster fire also. One of the lead actresses is already complaining about violence against women from GOT to this new series. Also once again I will watch the show to see how it is and see for myself. The Wheel of Time is not something I've read, but will eventually get to. I'm currently starting the Stormlight Archive. I'm sure it will have people complaining about that too and if it doesn't stay true to the source material and have bad casting. I hope Lego does see that High fantasy is still very popular both in the tv media, movies, books and video games. If Lego sees this and makes a theme of their own. I really hope if they do something High fantasy they do a show to accompany it. I think it could be very interesting. I am hoping for new things in the future instead of old rehashes but I will take the old rehashes too.

Yeah looked that up. They look more like manor's than castles. But I was just playing devil's advocate.
-
As you like to say it's not historically accurate and would not fit well in a castle setting.
-
That's not what I said. I was saying that pirates can go with castle because you were saying it doesn't work in the historical sense, I was saying it could work in a fantasy setting. As for castle and space I think it can work. I actually liked some of the Nexo Knights stuff. I liked all the villains. I wish there were some civilian sets in the line. The Castle builds were ok. Jestro's lava lair was pretty good my 10 year old has that set. Science fiction and fantasy can go together quite well. Look at masters of the Universe, loved that show as a kid and still like all the charaters today. Even look at the Thor movies that has both castle and space themes to it.

There are some pirates in fantasy books and games so it's not a stretch at all. Warhammer has it, Forgotten Realms has pirates in their high fantasy and it works really well. You can have pirates in a castle setting. Many realms in Forgotten realms have navies and there are pirates that attack trading vessels. It really comes down to how you do it. I think it would work quite well. Now I'm saying it in a fantasy setting not historically accurate to humans on this earth. Lego could easily make this work once again by making different types of ships like elven ships, viking type ships, etc.
-
All we know is that it is an attraction at legoland theme parks. So far there is no evidence it will be a theme. Leakers haven't hinted at it being a theme yet. But who knows it does take a long time to develope/produce sets. So maybe there will be sets down the line.

Even having pirate ships within a castle theme would work for me. You could take away the canons and still have pirates. I would actually prefer it that way. I'm actually kicking myself for not getting the LOTR ship. I really liked the design of that ship. We definitely need more fantasy type figs created. The CMF's do a good job of giving us those but it's taken forever to get were we are now. Adding the fact that HP has given us centaurs. I would just like to see lego really try something different with the castle theme if it does return. But if they don't i will still buy a ton of sets. I hope this Mythica thing they are doing works out and translates into sets at some point. I'm currently using my teenage groots as dryad's right now. Just hoping for some new interesting fig designs. After seeing concept designs for Nexo Knights a while back, I actually wish they would have made those mushroom people, the orcs, the demons and some of the other designs they had. Also after watching a video about Ninjago there was story about the Lego Ninjago Movie that had a totally different plot and would have had the ninja going back in time and the concept art for that was amazing. It had knights and demonic samurai that looked fantastic and would have really looked incredible on screen but they scraped the idea for what the movie is now which is just sad. Hopefully they will revisit that idea in the Ninjago tv show and that would be great.

Simple, nice design. I like the roof. Is there an interior?

@Aurore What set is the watermelon head piece from? -
Of course we are not going to want the same things we are different people. That's the problem nowaday's a lot people get offended when they don't get what they want from Lego like it's something personal. Lego has to make something that appeals to enough people to make them money and drive the demand for the product. Of course if you look at a piece of art and I look at the same piece we are going to get different things from it. But I think we can find some common ground here and just say that if Lego makes a castle line we would both be for it no matter what we get as we are itching for that niche to be filled. I just want lego to make something along the castle line and if it has fantasy elements great if not I will still buy it. The blacksmith shop is a great start and the 3 in 1 creator castle set should be nice. But I'm hoping for a full castle/fanstasy line. I like that we get some good figs in the CMF's like the recent knight, viking, jaguar warrior, and centaur. I was just saying what I thought would work well. What storyline do you think would work well?

LEGO Ninjago 2021
zoth33 replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
@a guy from somewhere That was interesting. Some of those concepts are really good and I hope some get used down the road. What really kills me is the idea of the Lego Ninjago movie going back through time with those knight and those demon looking samurai would have been awesome. Seeing that makes me sad that they didn't go that route. -
I'm not trying to be rude it just seems you were missing my point. I am also trying to engage you in witty banter about the topic. That's why I am asking questions. I was just giving my ideas of things they could possibly do. It came across as if you were attacking all my points by saying what is this never heard of it, like your dismissing all my points just because you don't agree with what I said. If you do a little research you could easily find what I was talking about. And yes I mentioned a lot of races to give examples. All of what I mentioned are all over all forms of fantasy that's why I used the more generic ones. I could have named Ithilids or otherwise known as mindflayers which some might not know what that is. A lot of kids know centaurs, minotaurs, fawns, etc from things like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson or The chronicles of Narnia. You don't have to take away the castle aesthetic if you do fantasy, you can still have castle structures that represent more medieval times. Like I said this would be an ongoing developing story which would change over time.

A lot of nice techniques and designs here. I like the steep roofs on the houses. The castle has some nice coloring and the round towers have some nice texturing. The crenelations looks good. I like the windmill blades. The landscaping is excellent and has a great variety and I like the different tree colors and sizes. I like the vine growing up the church. The water feature and rock work look good, I like the little waterfall. Nice figs too.
