I thought it would look alright... Add a splash of color... As for the steering modes, the chassis works fine on its own, but with the superstructure there is some backlash. That is correct. I ran out of beams, so fenders and covering up weren't possible. Thanks! I wish I could have taken your improvements... But beams... Thanks! The steering limited the suspension. I had to shorten it by a stud to get this range, so that's all.

I was totally not expecting this when I read "tracked loader"... this is way cooler! Nice model with decent functions and scale.

Given the current state of the carts you have, lots of people are going to be falling out also I fully agree with @pagicence 's color idea.

Hey everyone, After 3 weeks of constant building, my version of 42082 is finished! I achieved the grand majority of my goals for this MOC, but the main purpose of this project was to build a crane with more function in the given or smaller size with fewer pieces than 42082. And I succeeded! The final part count is under 3000, and the size is 63x20x20cm. Additional functions this this has that 42082 doesn't is: 2 stage boom 3 steering modes 2 winches rather than just 1, both with 2 speeds 2 stage outriggers (second stage manual) Suspension Additionally, it has all the functions 42082 does have, and a more convenient gearbox controlling all function from 1 place. I could have added a Y-arrangement or a separate jib, but I ran out of beams So all in all, things worked out! And some pictures: So that's all I had a whale of a time making this thing work. And it was worth it IMO! I hope you think so too. Looking forward to comment and criticism, but also comparisons! BbBT

That is one beautiful Liebherr crane! I wish I had one of these to compare my crane with

Very nice, but a few things here need to be changed IMO: The seat is too small for the cab, the A-pillars don't have a steep enough angle (the front windscreen looks weird like it is now) and your bonnet extends a few studs too far (it looks completely out of scale relative to your tracks). Keep building! This is very promising.

My aim was to make an alternative to 42082, but I still read your text I have to disagree with the boom looking too skinny. It seems to be in scale based on pictures of other cranes. If anything, it's less skinny than that on 42082, by a lot. Yes, the boom is bending. I have somewhat alleviated by reinforcing the shell around the end of the boom. As for the Y-arrangement, I also tried building a separate jib. The problem is, I don't have enough beams to build a jib half the length of the boom, in red, black, DBG, or LBG. Therefore, I am seriously lacking the parts necessary for a y-arrangement. Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

That's really cool! I am quite a fan of these rigs (having built 2 myself) and your WIP so far is really promising! Looking forward to more.

It's a nice attempt, but honestly, I'm not so sure that a forklift was a great candidate to be a C model of this set. It certainly functions well however the bodywork and proportions kinda suck. Great work though. This shows a lot of creativity, just like your other awesome C models! EDIT: one thing that really surprised me is that you didn't use 2 big cylinders for the lift. The range could have been doubled, and it is possible given the pieces (I did this with 42043 here) especially because it seems like you used few green beams. To raise the pallet, you could have used some string or something (I don't know if you consider using non-included string cheating. I don't.)

Hey everyone, Technically the crane is done, however as I filmed the video today, the steering completely failed on me. The crane refuses to steer right. Therefore, the video will be delayed. Sorry about that! As well, I took measurements of the crane today, and the dimensions are 65 (superstructure length, chassis length is 45) x 20x20cm! That means I have made a more functional crane in a smaller scale! Final pieces count is also under 3000! Therefore, provided the steering is fixed, this project was a success! Thanks for all the comments and criticism. I really appreciate all your help in this project! BbBT

Looking at those comparison pictures, even 42056 dwarfs this set

The crane is 90% done! I have restrung the winches in black, built better hooks, and reverted to a gear rack mechanism for extension. I have also added some detail to the chassis, finished my design for outrigger second stages and finished the cab. The superstructure is 99% done (I only have to finish the crane head now). And the crane fully extended for your pleasure. Height is 1 meter. That's all. If you have any constructive criticism now is the time!!

Don't even consider using regular LA's for this. My own rough terrain crane, whose boom is half a kg, requires a lot of torque to be lifted. I would suggest a brick-built actuator as @suffocation suggested. Oh, and good use of the 42082 turntable assembly!

Thank you! This project was more opportunistic than anything for me... I ordered a bunch of crane parts a month back and got to use them because of all the "hate". As for yellow, the rims will be red in the final product. They're yellow now because I have to take the reds off my 42054. Besides those rims, I have virtually 0 yellow parts. Thanks, glad you like it! Black would look even better than red

Shifter: I have 2 options given here. One uses idler gears to distance the shifter from the gearbox, the other a liftarm. The latter may not fit the specifications. More idler gears can be added as needed to the first, and the liftarm length can be extended on the latter. If you need more pictures, I am at your service. I was in a rush today

Update time. So I added some bodywork and I had to change the extension mechanism for the boom because worm gears just couldn't handle the torque needed to extend the second stage. I also greatly reinforced the chassis and added hard shocks to the suspension so the crane doesn't topple. I also redid the superstructure so that the rotation mechanism wouldn't slip. Pictures: The crane should be done in a week. Part count is nearing 3000., and I'm running out of liftarms so expect low quality fenders.
