Despicable Me 2024 - Rumours & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to BrickBob Studpants's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wonder if the minions will be redesigned in a way… Probably not, but they‘ll look huge next to the human characters, especially the three girls They even gave kid Gru normal legs in the Minions sets to adjust for that! -

But there were no other speeders in the scene Sure, they could’ve made something up, but I doubt that. They rarely make things up outside of battlepacks -

If they switch over to the cashgrab reboot, I’ll stop collecting the theme, easy as that Since it’ll still be a while before that, I hope they can manage to “complete” the theme by releasing sets featuring the most important still missing locations and characters! -

Wasn’t Stitch one of the candidates for the 150th Brickhead? If they also make one for the shark from Jaws, that poll will be retroactively completely pointless I’m not complaining though, that Stitch Brickhead might be one of my new favourites! -

The leakers have confirmed it, but no set number, price, or piece count at the moment -

Technically? But who would want to snatch up a license in an off-year without a new movie getting released? Besides, Disney are besties with TLG, I doubt they‘d just give the license to a competitor Also, other themes have taken breaks too before, like Jurassic World, as @THELEGOBATMAN points out -

For the 30th anniversary you mean? …I feel old just typing that. And regarding the back-printing rumour: I highly doubt they‘d do something like that for characters we‘ve never had before (and will likely never get again). There‘s no credible source for any such claim. -

For now. They might bring it back for the third movie! -
Codename „orange“ turned out to be Despicable Me 4! The theme will launch in May at Smyths and June elsewhere. The following 5 sets are part of the theme: 30678, 48 pcs, €3.99, 6+ 75580, 136 pcs, €24.99, 6+ 75581, 379 pcs, €39.99, 7+ 75582, 839 pcs, €54.99, 9+ 75583, 868 pcs, €99.99, 8+ The price difference between the last two is striking, given the similar piece count!! Combined with the higher age recommendation, I guess 75582 could be a buildable figure?

Yuuuup, “orange” is indeed DM4! There will be 4 sets plus a polybag, all launched in May at Smyths and June everywhere. Now the question is what the other 2024 movie is, since Falconfan hinted at multiple films this year getting the LEGO treatment

Meh. A high figure counts doesn't mean much to me if none of them are new or interesting, except for Fives of course Undoubtedly my highlight of the set, if not the entire wave Malak is cool too I guess, but I don't care much for Legends -

The Grogu escape set including two 501st clones is a bit disappointing, but also no surprise I’ve really had it with 501st clones, no more please At least the Kelleran minifig should be cool! And I’m hopeful for some March reveals soon! Almost everything else scheduled for that month has been revealed in the meantime. My highlights will definitely be the two anniversary minifigs I wonder if they’ll have some special anniversary packaging! -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
The four “orange” sets immediately follow last year’s Avatar sets, so they kinda have to be licensed as well. Licensed and in-house set numbers usually don’t mix Also, only four sets to kick off a new in-house theme? No way. Transformers One is certainly an option I hadn’t thought of before! After all, we still need to find out what this year’s rumoured movie tie-in themes are gonna be, and this could be a candidate! -

Indeed. While the lack of ToD and KotCS/DoD sets can be blamed on Disney and assumably low merch sales in 2008 respectively, this doesn't fully explain the overall lacklustre treatment of the theme. Only one wave, just three sets, no Brickheadz, no polybag, no theme announcement, no keychains, NADA. Ridiculous. -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Depends. If Red Hulk's identity is supposed to be a mystery in the movie (for casual fans, the rest already know), then it's a good move. Unless Red Hulk has a mustache (which would immediately give it away) or they explain how it mysteriously vanishes during the transformation -

I always found it ridiculous how Red Hulk didn‘t have Ross‘ moustache, but they probably did it to keep his identity a secret (if I remember correctly, it was supposed to be a big twist) I suppose they could dance around the issue by having Ross be clean-shaven. Never seen Ford with a stache anyway -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
We can only speculate, but my guess is that they anticipated low sales for merchandise based on DoD and thus decided to focus on RotlA and TlC only. Given the performance of DoD, it was a wise decision, at least from a financial point of view No point in mulling over it. The Indy theme is dead, but there are plenty of other themes to get excited for this year! -

Not yet. It's one of four sets from the survey leak that still haven't been confirmed (Donald Duck, the Deku Tree, and the Maleficent diorama being the other three). The others have all been confirmed by leakers in the meantime, so it'd be weird if any of those four didn't make it -

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

If Marvel are smart about it, they‘ll just remove Sabra from the movie (and thus the set) altogether. No matter how they portray the character, it will rub people the wrong way, especially with the current conflict still ongoing. Entertainment commenting on real-life events, be they current or historical, is okay in my book, but it‘s usually handled in a pretty subtle way, with allegories and stand-ins (see the fictional countries in the Marvel universe). Having Sabra in the movie, despite being obviously fictional, is too real in a sense. People go to superhero movies for escapism, not to be reminded of real-life tragedies that are ongoing while they sit in a movie theatre, munching on popcorn -

Yeah, a new Great Hall being a $200 set wouldn’t be a great idea. A bit too pricey for the centerpiece of a modular system. A $140 one would suffice Whatever they do, I’m hopeful for the remaining teachers and house ghosts to be featured! Not many options left though -

I just hope we’ll get at least one new character out of these sets, but chances aren’t exactly great, admittedly. The core rogue’s gallery alone is more than these 5 sets can handle, unless they come with more figures than usual -

It‘s even branded as a „Stitch“ set, no Lilo to be mentioned anywhere! Hope we’ll get a minifig of hers at some point… And regarding the Ideas set: I’d say it’s more the general concept they’ll adapt (i.e., the sorcerer Mickey figure plus some vignettes), not necessarily these exact film scenes and minifigs. They still might of course, but previous Ideas sets have sometimes deviated quite a bit from the original entry -

Love the look of that Stitch set, very cute! Also noteworthy is the new packaging. Looks like minidoll and regular sets now share the same boxart style! -

Yeah, that wouldn’t have made any sense. The Burrow must be at least €250 if not 300 Glad to have it confirmed, which means we don’t have many sets from the survey leak that are still unaccounted for! I think that leaves us with the Maleficent dragon, Donald Duck, Deku Tree, and Jabba’s Sailbarge as the only remaining unconfirmed ones. Hope they all make it!
