Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
If it’s genuine, that is Kinda fishy that this person not only claims to have the leaked part, but also a misprint they advertise to include for free should the bids go above a threshold. Weird. I was under the impression the set had been cancelled well before hitting production. Honestly, I don’t like the idea of individual parts now leaking, given how crazily expensive it would be to hunt them all down -

True, Falconfan didn’t specify that. But it’s the 25th anniversary of TPM and at least one set has been hinted at as @Classic_Spaceman is pointing out, so the chances of it being TCW, Rebels, or Solo Maul are indeed veeeeeeery low Too bad him and Boss Nass don’t share any scenes or are ever in any proximity. A set with the latter included would immediately be more of a draw -

We knew the moment it became clear we wouldn’t get DoD sets. We’ve been over this, why would the theme continue after skipping the final movie? That’d be like still expecting them to release sets based on Fantastic Beasts. They had their chance, and they missed it spectacularly. Also, the leakers confirmed it. Nope. I liked the old Adventurers sets, but I don’t want knock-off Indy to come back anytime soon to rub salt into my wounds Just wait until the HP remake show I don’t envy those poor actors -

Thank [insert some deity]!! So that frees the spot for a more unique character AND pretty much confirms a TPM set (other than the pod race diorama)! Excellent news! -

I was purely talking about (non-existing) Indy sets here, not the atrocities of both WWs My apologies if what I said came across as downplaying them, that was absolutely not my intention! (And please don’t assume I’m okay with my country’s stance during these times, because I’m certainly not. I think they were a bunch of spineless cowards) -

Not only that, but the theme is over There’s no real point in discussing any of that since there are no new sets coming! Sure, we can discuss about it in hypothetical terms, going in circles, but nothing will ever come of it Might as well discuss the ethics of depicting cannibals in PotC sets -

Uh oh. Does this mean no Maul or another version of his? The best case scenario then would be no Maul, freeing the Rebels spot for someone more interesting (Seventh Sister, anyone?)! The worst case would be Solo Maul, since we already had that one and it would rob us of a new Solo character. A new version from TCW also wouldn’t be great, as we had plenty of them (minus his robot spider lower body from his animated debut), as it would destroy the nice pattern we thought we’re having. And a TPM version would be very disappointing too, for many obvious reasons -

I liked her. While obviously made to sell toys, it works in my book as I‘m a sucker for cute things and it‘s a toy in-universe too Also, she‘s relevant to the plot! Granted, we will very likely not get a new piece for her (if she‘s even included in the first place), but at the very least a cool new print! -

Not much to go off of as usual with these price lists, but it's nice to see a $15 in a summer wave! Hopefully not a mech though and instead something like the Cap & Black Widow bikes, just something a bit more interesting than that please -

Right? Black Manta’s hammerhead shark sub could’ve been such a cool set! Too late for that now -

I like your optimism, but if the final movie can’t get even a single set, what chance do games and other media stand? Also, Lucasfilm seem to only do SW now. Willow is dead too, after all. In my eyes, the franchise is over. -

You mean the remaining ones? Because 3 out of the 4 we know about are from non-live-action properties -

Well that train has long departed The theme is over and likely never coming back. Even if it did, there’s no way DoD would get any set representation after it flopped at the box office. The only chance was this summer, and they squandered it -

Rebels Maul and Leia are both cool choices, especially if they come with the broken Inquisitor lightsaber and Lola respectively So it looks like we get representatives for different properties that aren’t the three Skywalker trilogies (so far): Legends, TCW, and now Rebels and Obi-Wan. Fingers crossed that TBOBF, the two Jedi games, The Bad Batch, Rogue One, and Solo are the other properties!! -

We’ve known what it looks like since February I checked, unless I’m overlooking something, the final version looks identical to the leaked one, minus the Harry minifig. Even the house tiles were already there in the leak! -

That‘s exactly why I think it‘s a wasted spot. 2nd task Fleur will likely appear in another set at some point, so they may as well have thrown this version of Cedric in there instead and given us something more unique as the book exclusive Judging purely by memory, the Sorting Hat looks very similar to the version in the survey leak! That picture didn‘t show the house tiles or the Harry minifig though, which means we can likely expect some tweaks and improvements for the other sets from that leak as well -

And the new book-exclusive character is… *drumroll* …2nd task Cedric The torso is neat (as is the arm printing), but this feels like a wasted spot a bit, especially coming after the excellent Rita minifig. MEH. -

I certainly hope not. The ship has neither enough significance nor screentime to justify a large-scale set like that A 100€ playset would be more than enough in my eyes -

That’s one thing, but the question I want answered more than any other in regards to the entire Indy debacle is: where did the four set numbers (77016-19) that Promobricks reported on come from? They were the only source to ever bring them up, leading me to believe these never existed in the first place. Was this a misunderstanding? Did their source lie? Did the sets exist at some point, but were cancelled before anybody else could catch wind of them? EXPLAIN YOURSELVES -

Disagree hard on this. Yeah, it’s just one set, but it’s a lovely build and all the major characters people wanted are represented here With Indy, we only got three of the 10+ sidekicks, just one out of five main antagonists, and no named minions. At least minifig-wise Dune with its one set is better represented than Indy Only doing 3 sets in total must’ve been a mutual decision though. I doubt Disney outright prohibited TLG from releasing more -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah. I know I’ve kept harping about it since March, but it’s still true: this has been by far TLG’s biggest mishandling of a major franchise The three sets are among the best released this year no doubt, but the fact that this puny wave is all we’re ever gonna get and that they made us wait for an additional year for NOTHING still maddens me 2023 was a great year for LEGO, actually my favourite ever, but 2024 might already top it, mostly thanks to Barad-dûr, the Dune set, the new Hagrid’s Hut, the Snow White cottage, Animal Crossing, the Mando S3 sets, and the SW anniversary figures. If there were Indy sets in 24, it would definitely beat this year. Since there won’t be any, it’ll depend on the licensed CMF series, the 2HY sets for Marvel and HP, and whether the Zelda set gets made. Still a fairly good chance! -

The royal starship could make for a cool set to celebrate TPM’s anniversary, but I‘m not sure how good it’d look in LBG, even if they get the shaping right Metallic grey would definitely look better, but I imagine the model would require lots of pieces that aren’t available in that colour yet
