  1. It's interesting, based on this video it seems to have a similar speed like the 42065 with the M motors. Can you post a pic about the gearing used?
  2. Yours is wider I think so it looks more like a serious snow machnie :) It's interesting I didn't try to gear up the L motors when I made the test with the different versions of 42065, went straight with the buggies for speed :) I might give them a try though...

As I did not have detailed experience with this configuration (4L motors) I decided to create you a little test video so you can compare the performance of the different solutions and probably it'll help you to choose the optimal solution. I used PF rechargeable battery boxes as I did not have 12 fully charged AA or AAA batteries but the performance should be similar. The vehicle does not have steering as it was only a quick test and I think the servo does not have a big impact on the performance. The car is exactly 1kg without batteries or receivers. As you can see the speed difference is not that significant, probably it would be with more weight added. I can test with extra weight later once you know how heavy your car will be. The stress test already shows the weakness of the 1 battery solutions, the only single battery version that survives here is BuWizz in normal mode. The climb test shows the weakness of the v1 IR receivers, it cannot climb well even with 2 of them. Unfortunately the V2 is more expensive and you cannot get it with a set nowdays. All in all the 2 BuWizz version will give you the most power, but I think that's the most expensive as well. BuWizz just released their v2 unit which will give you slightly more performance. On the downside their software is still pretty unpolished and lacks customization. SBrick can be customized well and can also use a gamepad, but there you need to buy separate battery box(es). I hope this video will help, let me know if you need more information.
  8. One thing you should consider is how comfortable would you be with the smartphone touch controls versus the physical controls what Lego offers. I know the power functions remote has it's limitations but for a lot of people it's still more convenient than a touch interface. SBrick has a solution for this, but that requires additional purchase - you can connect a (compatible) gamepad to your phone and use it to control the SBrick. Unfortunately BuWizz does not have this option yet.
  9. I used 2 BuWizz units because I wanted to provide full power under load to the buggy motors. If you're planning to use BuWizz then one unit will handle 4 L motors. If you're planning to use Power Functions components (Battery box & IR receiver) then it might be better to use 2 of them both.
  10. When in doubt, add more wings ;) Really like the bokeh on the ground, the Laowa 7.5mm f/2 MFT is a true gem!
  11. Thanks guys, yeah time and space was limited this time so I had to use what I could find quickly. There was a strong wind as well so the ramps were blown away constantly to add an extra fun factor :) @agrof I'm not sure if there's much more speed to gain, with a single pullback motor that's what they can do. I did not have a chance to make the combined model this time, probably with 2 motors that's more powerful. Your 4x4 version still blows these out of the water :)

I'm not sure if anyone will ever need a similar solution, but I'll share it because you never know :) I wanted to film the two 2017 Technic pullback vehicles in slow motion and quickly realized that I don't have enough hands to control them and my camera as well. The mechanics are pretty simple (I found something similar online for a previous project), M motors are driving the claws. With the 2 channels I can control them independently but can push/pull the levers together as well. The structure has more parts than necessary to add weight and for reinforcement. Here is the video where I used them:

  18. Wow, very impressive progress in such a short time! I'm envious to see a whole model born in 3d, I always needed to fiddle around with real bricks... I really like the scale and especially the menacing look :) I think the A pillars are OK, adding a light bar between those 2L liftarms would make the front of the roof more unified. Can't wait to see the next steps, definitely following the build!
  19. I'm just speculating, but what if the 2 knobs are connected under the deck?

I think gearing up only the rear axles would make more trouble than benefit, if there's no room in the front axles for it then don't bother with it. @Leonardo da Bricki as I saw agrof's buggy running pretty well (for PF) with only 2 L motors I think it could handle some gearing if you have 4WD. The overall size difference is not that significant, it could work if the weight can be kept in the same range. Obviously if it doesn't fit then there's no point to talk about it :) I made a dummy chassis for one of my cars to test the different gearing ratios and added the necessary amount of weight to simulate the complete body. It can be useful before trying to squeeze every part in the final design :)
  21. Wow, this buggy looks really exciting, will follow the build for sure! I'm confident it will drive well on rough terrain with the 4 L motors. As I see you'll use the direct output of the motors, I wonder if there's any possibility to gear it up a little bit for more speed (not sure if the gearing would fit for the front axle), it depends on the final weight as well.
  22. Instructions can be found in the video below for the buggy motor mod. I tried to highlight what steps needs to be changed compared to the original instructions. I did not create a part list, the items needed can be seen in the video hopefully. I'm still refining the smaller version, planning to create a complete instruction set for that one.
  23. I disassembled the bigger one to make the instructions for the buggy motor mod and I'm rebuilding the smaller one now. Implemented the idea coming from @Didumos69 for the steering, it works great so far! I'll check the other solution, too :)
  24. I had severely damaged boxes due to poor handling but never had issues with the content, I think that compensation is fair enough.
