[HELP] MOC Ferrari GTO 250
J_C replied to mzzl88's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Advice number 1. When you are done, do not sell instructions. Some companies are more lethargic then others about protecting their IP. Ferrari is not one of them. They protect their image and keep total control about where and how their brand is used. (Or get a proper licence). (I design toys for a living, I also work on projects under car manufacturers licences. trust me ) -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion
J_C replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
as container transport, I would wish for harbour crane on the rail. rails! And for H2 (or 2018) railway set. proper technic train - never been done before. -

meanwhile volunteer can translate Russian version into, lets say, Finnish, then to Polish, then to Hebrew, then to Spanish, then to Japanese, then to Flemish and back to English. I am sure there will be much more distilled information available afterwards. -
I AGREE! Dear Blakbird, remember who supported you. Next time, when I am the judge I will remember your "remembering"

Lets just use common sense. Because just after this is established, next question will be: "what is function?" "define function". And we are at the square one. edit: after post 154, my post 155, is irrelevant. I could not agree more.
-
Please, do not set minimum. I am already building 1 function entry. I do not wanna pat my own back, but I think originality will overcome its simplicity (actually it is so simple), but it is just 1 functional. (if I make it work satisfactory enough). I do not wanna be among endless row of excavators and tipping bed cars (no disrespect). (I wrote it before, I have just 1 pneumatic set with single unit. I decided I am not gonna let it be my disadvantage, but I will design something new and truly unusual with just one pneu-function. If you set e.g. 3 minimum, I am out.)

[TC10] Classic Locomotive

sure, I understand now what was meant by steering. thanks. I am sure it is just working stage, because wheels will have (when finished) same track gauge -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
J_C replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Hi, I mostly build Technic and before my dark age, there were no "modular" buildings. How do you define "modular" builds? Advanced architecture with interior? Are these only buildings/houses? Please explain. Thanks. -

I am really curious if Lego pneumatic is strong enough to make it actually go. I hope so. This looks totally interesting. -
OK. I am very glad to hear that it is OK, if my "WIP" discussion topic will only contain finished project.
-
Heaps of pure LEGO and zero damage options out there. I admit, some of them not suitable for all applications, but just for illustration 15 examples:
-
Discussions like "why him, why not me?" will happen no matter what the rules would be. (because, you know, it is human nature)
-
Good idea. maybe some "notable" entries. I am sure there will be more than 3 special projects. Flexible number - jury will either award "special badge" or not.

Pack it away, keep it! 20-30years down the line, your grandchildren will find real treasure when you bring it down from the attic. My children love, love, love (and so do I) my old sets and bricks from 80s. They are invaluable (not speaking about money now). And your daughter, one day, will kiss you on the forehead and say: "Thank you dad, for keeping my old LEGO 30y ago" .
-
Since my only pneumatic I have is old and faithful 8040 from early mid-80s, I better come up with some really bonkers idea to overcome lack of pneumatic elements.

[REVIEW] 42056 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS
J_C replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
TLG might have communicated more and better about whole Porsche issues. Labeling the set "Ultimate" (and that came from TLG not customers/fans community) sets expectations to nothing less then perfection. -
[MOC] Airplane Catapult

I like it a lot. Very original. Bravo. -
funny, cute, smart, brilliant. I really admire when people design something small, or simple, or with limited bricks. I think it is way harder and valuable than taking e.g.10000 brick for heaps of money and build something super-realistic and sizewise massive. Of course these "large scale" MOCs are usually impressive, but small, compact, limited, smart is (to me) way more impressive.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
J_C replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thin rubber or silicone seals between beams can make boat that is not terribly big and heavy perfectly "seaworthy" without 1-piece hull. With clever design of the hull and absence of PF (so few drops of water inside would not be an issue), it might work. Technic beams are relatively low density if you count the holes, which would work as hollow spaces inside hull's wall. I built simple floatable boats from System brick several times without 1-piece hull. Sure it gets wet inside, sooner or later, but it floats. However I doubt Lego would introduce range of seals from alternative material to make Technic vessels "seaworthy". My guess is that it will be "dry" vessel. -
Brilliant. Thank you very much. How simple. Silly me , I should have figured this out by myself. Thank you!

Hi, is it possible to somehow manually adjust amount of parts in SUB meta? I am replacing track subassembly with single chaintread elements in PLI, but I did not figure out how to tell LPub to display correct amount (I would specify that). So far it shows 1x. I need 42x. All "trial and error" leads to error for me. Please advice. Thank you very much. so far syntax as follows: 0 !LPUB PLI BEGIN SUB 57518.dat 72 0 !LPUB PART BEGIN IGN 1 72 190 260 83 0 0 1 0 -1 0 1 0 0 chaintread.ldr 0 !LPUB PLI END 0 !LPUB PART END where to put 42, to make it show 42? Thank you very much.
