Technic 2021 Set Discussion
Void_S replied to LvdH's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, it looks so thin but still having the same thickness as 1L-tick plate and 1L "beams" in-between them... -
DIfferential information
Void_S replied to Yor83's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is the same question that appears for real cars and trucks - the ratio of the "final/differential drive": Less reduction (driven gear is not so small, differential gear is not so big) leads the following features: + better start due to bigger torque + bigger weigh capacity + better fuel economy at low speeds (less electric currency) - lower high speed Bigger reduction (driven gear quite smaller than a differential leads the opposite things: - slower start to worse torque (and bigger currency for electric motors) - less weigh capacity + better fuel economy at high speeds + higher high speed -

Technic 2021 Set Discussion
Void_S replied to LvdH's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Mmmm... It looks tasty! I think it may work as a wheel-bucket for a smaller version of 42055 excavator. The size is approximate 11x11 studs (~86mm), so it may greatly fit a midscale trencher: -
[moc] RC dump (of a) truck
Void_S replied to suffocation's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ah, I though about a dump and and a tow trucks comparison, sorry)) Here you're absolutely right - that version of "42008-base" is really better. -
I don't think it will happen ever. Not because of a technical possibility, as TLG changes the parts by optimizing and correcting the molds so the parts sometimes loose some functions. Like it happened for half-bushes and their "toothed" connections. It may really happen that the engine blocks may loos their stud connections if their appearance makes some serious troubles to their durability. A bright example is 24-teeth gear that loose its 45-degree axle holes. The reason, I believe, in a fact of intra-"themes" compatibility. TLG has learned their lesson with Galidor, Znap and other similar "themes" - there were too distant for the main "core" idea and parts to be called LEGO. Now, the Bionicle (and other Action models) even having their oven parts design, still follow the same "common" connections. Even the simplest model could be changed significantly, not only hand-to-legs replacement. So, without a feasible reason TLG will not push their evolution to this "fully-System" or "fully-Technic" ways. In opposite, now TLG is getting advantages by mixing them with amazingly-sold highly detailed sets like 42078 Mack Anthem or 12056 Ford Mustang (or recent 12095 Porsche 911). These sets have already crossed the border and got advantages of a both "worlds". I mean that if the idea works it makes no sense to stop it. For sure, some Technic sets may contain only Technic parts. But I repeat, it is not due to willing of "getting rid of these f***ng System bricks and plates". Personally, I would prefer having some few more 1x1 round tiles as headlights instead of a sticker over the transverse liftarm...

[moc] RC dump (of a) truck
Void_S replied to suffocation's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, I wouldn't compare such a way different trucks Great truck, however! It really an impressive creation made within such a limited time. I thing it could be expressed and a "fun momentum", as a ratio of "awesomeness/time"! Really, some models may be even up to 1:5 scale with fantastic attention to each detail but on other hand it took years to design and build them, so it wasn't a joy building but a hard works instead. Here I see the mode that even being non 100%-ideal (but who are?) fully meets the expected criteria (child-proof is not the last of them) and looks great! -
These facts makes me sad... Like "Hey, there was no place, so we didn't put a differential" vs. "well, I have modded it by adding the differential and... 32-speeds gerabox".

@1974, no one word for these rules and terms cannot applied here. At all. It's not a competitor, not a clone, not a fake (well, unless it was a genus Photoshop skill ) So, this part and discussion is 100%-legal and allowed to be discussed at EB. As for me, after some days of thinking abut this thing, I shed it in my mind as a question "why the LEGO Group is allowed to make 1-purpose parts but others are not?". I suppose that if the "Lamborghini horse" logo was replaced with a recessed position for 1x1 tile (so it can be this logo or any other part) and got some additional mount points (like at other Technic panels), the part will be more "multi-purposed" and the discussion will over...

XTN's garage
Void_S replied to XTN's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, and on MD (class 6) one too)). F700 now is closer to Cruiseliner (which actually was a successor of F-series). Unfortunately my work now takes all my imagination and "creativity energy" so I just feel exhausted and these projects move very slow -

Wow! That truthy means "rare doesn't mean impossible"! So, it even better to see something special, not so boring-common Since 42078 release I fall into this world of trucks (and 15-stud wide ones especially). They have some "challenging simplicity" - easy to start building due to quite predefines size (a lot of 15L beams ) but becomes so difficult to fit all desired things inside due to limited size. I also had a plan to build a roll-back truck but a Volvo FE with Low Entry cabin: Hopefully I will return to it once ))) -

It looks great! But something makes me thinking that it should have only two axles... I don't know but possibly the reason in a relatively short nose: small engine compartment = less powerful engine = less weight capacity = less axle load. It really looks American now and remains me 6-7 class trucks which are smaller than "full-size rigs" of 8 class. Here is a friendly Freightliner example of such cute red truck: -
Well, the TLG's wheel arches used in Sian model were already a half-way to this result. As a Technic fan, I didn't like how TLG acted by making such parts, that was too far from LEGO logic. A one more Galidor for me However, as a human, I really like how accurate and precise it was made!

Nice video! I also use this moment, as building the model in LDD/Studio requires to explicitly set the gears and driveshaft angles. I would add once more thing, the calculation for more then 2 gears in a row, a "consequent connection". I wanted to explain it here how it can be done but decided just to put all the calculations in the the Excel file, so you can easily use it. So, here it begins: we have a number of gears to be connected to each other and it will be a nightmare to set all of them at proper angles to ensure the proper teeth mesh. The first row is a real configuration, the second is a "flat" layout of the same connections. For non-bevel gears it will be only a flat one So, we have 12-20-28-20-12-20-12 gears and I have to rotate the first one at 200 degrees, for example. Setting the first gear - 200 degrees. Setting the second gear - it should be rotated accordingly, to math the 0.5 teeth turn and math the 1st gear turn. Then the 3rd, 4th etc. It results in a lot of calculation, or just a lot of try-and-fail attempts. So, today I made an Excel file that is making all the calculations for me: I'm only set the gears and if the first one's turn angle if needed. As a result, it shows all the gears angles (in degrees and teeth) and which human-friendly value is better for use instead of a long fraction number. That last column was a real headache to build the reasonable formula but I did it and works the best! Enjoy: https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/gear-connections/Gear Connections.xlsx https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/gear-connections/Gear Connections.io Update: it does not understand that angled connections by TechnicBrickPower but I hope yet) Update 2: ouch! it's my 666th post

Possibly some hard-reset. Electronic devises normally may have some not-so-easy-to-access button for a hard-reset/reboot operation. I guess, this button may switch-off the hub, or un-pair the Bluetooth connection. However, once you access the button by removal the battery compartment, you will disconnect it anyways))

It reminds me RC buggy models, especially the title photo, quite authentic! It even inspired me to stop the existing projects and make some similar one - crazy lightweight thing. The only moment I don't like is an extremely low gound clearance under the front axle (that H-shaped liftarm that embraces the motor connection)... -
I was never fan of the original model (I really don't like it) but yours is just fantastic! So Willis, so military so olive-green! The only thing that is needed here is a white star in a circle at the hood for 100500% authentic look!

Hold on, man. I know which brands are good and which are not (just preferred not to mention the exact names here) and I have nothing against Xiaomi - my concern was only for doubts in copying them. And, kindly don't ask others to do something in a such manner. We're all good friends here and have no bad intensions. I believe
