Actually, this part is still widely known as "Control+ Hub". Not an official name but causes no questions on its matter and membership of "Electrical" families (lie 9V, PF, Powered Up, Control+ etc.). "Technic" is a name of LEGO theme and makes no sense on the part origin as didn't reveal that it's Control+ related part. The "Technic" theme has a lot of hubs, including Technic wheel hubs...

One more modification is in progress. It was frozen as was highly related to Mack Granite, and now it's ongoing. My biggest modification (in size, as well): Made in light-bright orange color (42099). It's not so easy as if I used just yellow but I believe this color works better as "school bus yellow" 4x2 chassis from Mack Anthem (with Set-forward modification), with a bigger wheelbase. rear axle suspension. I didn't choose the geometry yet but want to have some "humpty-dumpty" effect when passing some obstacles, like railway crossings. inline-6 engine from Anthem\Pinnacle\Granite modified hood borrowed from Granite driver's door from Anthem\Pinnacle\Granite passengers' double-door. I wanted to make some complicated feature here, but found that school buses have dead-simple doors, are juts opens outwards, like your wardrobe... I will make some handle or lever to control it anyways. rear emergency door with handle-lock foldable "stop" side barriers + front barrier. I will try to make a single control lever for them. Hope, I will finish it once...

Finally, I'm ready to present the Granite GU713 model. It's the first Granite made of 42078 Anthem using Set-Forward scheme that allows it to beat the heavy-duty challenges still meeting the bridge formula (wheelbase/load capacity ratio). https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-47968/VoidSerpent/mack-granite-gu713-64ft/#comments https://bricksafe.com/pages/Void_s/42078/mack-granite-sf The main features are: Chassis-frame unified with Pinnacle (my previous SF model) and compatible with Anthem (SB trucks) modifications Ladders+fuel tanks unified with Pinnacle Anthem/Pinnacle/Granite unified cabin with interior DayCab roof - compatible with Anthem and Pinnacle Granite Hood, based on @grego18f's model but converted to SF axle placement and new grille shaping Bull bar for possible construction or road service equpment

General Part Discussion

So, now the reason is obvious. I'm not into these USC cars, so missed this moment but it looks really weird to see this "barely-legal" connection in such expensive sets. Now I see that it was just screaming for these improved gears.- 5,466 replies

General Part Discussion
Void_S replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, right... I just supposed that the 8T gear remained "spiky" enough to mesh with "shortened" 24T gear. So, looks just as a better design with less friction/backslash/ABS use and nothing more.- 5,466 replies

I meant that if the rumors about 3L diameter are true, TLG just "cuts the corners" by cutting off the gear teeth... For me, it would look like a lazy solving of the oldest problem (why they hadn't done it initially, when designed this gear?).- 5,466 replies

Do you mean their "3L+" studs diameter, when they weren't able to fit the 3L-wide places? It sound very interesting if the new one now have 3L-accurate diameter and can be used where the old one couldn't. However it is some kind of cheating for me- 5,466 replies

Medium-Duty CVT Transmission
Void_S replied to 2GodBDGlory's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would double that these tires really are the "grippiest" ones in the given size. Beside this, your CVT is historically known as "friction drive" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friction_drive) as the first and simplest CVT type. -

Looks like a printed - I see no sticker sheet "edges" around the "C with arrows" picture. -
I suppose that's because the sleeper is quite "closed" and it's barely possible to see something inside it, behind the seats. another reason is the HOG steering shaft that moved the sleeping bed. Once you motorize truck, you will get rid of the HOG shafts, getting more space for a proper sleeper, but also get a problem of a battery unit location, that commonly goes to the sleeper...

Plus, it could be too expensive to have this technology at the construction vehicle, where there is even a special name of the second person, the "chuteman" who guides the machine movements and operates the chute itself and concrete discharge. Moreover, such machines have noting common with aerodynamic at all, so getting rid of some "protruding parts" doesn't work here as well. -

Some updates for the digital model: https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/42112/42112 - Concrete Mixer.io Cabin (no interior so far) Steering (axles + HOG) Mixer's front stand with water tank and gearing Rear "funnel" with rotatable chute Known issues: Stud.io has no new "linear clutch 3L" (used in Liebherr 42100) so I used 3L worm gear in white instead. Curious why TLG added a clutch here... -

Wow! I thought it was a Corvette's B-model looking on the preview but then realized that it's in a way smaller scale. I love your alternate models but such small ones are pure genius due to a hard challenge of limited parts number and types.- 761 replies

It's true. They chain doesn't fully follow the gears shape and have some stress when rotates with high tension (it jumps a bit over gears' teeth) wich reminds a bit a bad-placed cardan (universal) joint. -

Well, looking at the images (I may be way mistaken) but the door could be openable, however being in a very small size - only Dark Blue area could be openable whereas the real-life truck should have the full surface, from window till doorsteps. -

AWD - independent axles
Void_S replied to mudseason's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The chassis will always roll slower than the motors can do due to roll resistance and friction so both will push the model, with no highlighted "pusher" or "puller" (for sure, with the same gearing). So, @mudseason, please go ahead with your interesting model! Additionally I would add I don't like to add the connection between the axles if I see possibility to skip it, as you might get just one "weak point" to be broken if some axle has stuck. Not so critical for road models but very dangerous for off-road ones.
