General Part Discussion
Void_S replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm trying to add the missed parts to BL and RB inventories, so we can get the full inventory for newly released sets (42128+42129) and found that I just physically can't add the new pre-cut pipes due to the absence of the mold numbers on them. Well, they actually can't have them as they are pre-cut, not molded but the rules have me find them and add The purpose was to prepare the inventories for further MODs and alternative models. At least make it a bit easier.- 5,504 replies

Unfortunately not, it shows only "part color codes", a combination of mold+color while I'm looking for a model number which is the same for different colors and used across the Brick trade portals.- 5,504 replies

Initially, I thought it was a Kylo Ren's lightsaber part (axle connector with perpendicular bar mount holes) with flexible tubes but it really looks like a solid part. I thought about the use and already see some of them (considering it's 7x7 sized, following the photo image: Rear rotor barrier at a helicopter. It might work the best for small-medium scale models. Air inlet shaping for some jetplane models Some "flower-like" base for clip-mounted "leaves" All in all, I see the same use cases which also could be made only using the connectors and flexible tubes... The true use case may be the one that utilizes its solidness, while the other solution may self-disassemble under the load.- 5,504 replies

Guys, do you have any idea of how and where the mold number for pre-cut pneumatic tubes can be found? I'm taking a hard time reviewing the 42128 parts inventory at BrickLink (11L cross-hole liframs are done) but totally lost in ay identification on the tubes. They are 160/304 and some other smaller sized but BL even divides them into V1 and V2 types...- 5,504 replies

Just my thoughts as well. It reminded me of Deagostiny and others "build your scaled model" vendors, which provide the set of parts, then you assemble them, put the result on a shelf or desktop, and enjoy its appearance. I just can't divide the meaning of having these sets and Creator Expert - personally, I would prefer their combination, like amazingly detailed bodywork with some basic technical functions.

Yes, for sure. It was not a critic or even some negative pun. I just noticed that the front part (engine-cabin-sleeper) is quite "empty" inside in comparison with rear one which nice and tight packed. Like if can add any other cabin here, another American longnosed one (maybe without a sleeper), or even a much shorter cabover one. Keeping myself following my own words, I see I have to try and make these variations. Daycab looks like a nice mod with no extra parts used, and cabover might fit into the limited inventory too.

[MOC] Azure V8 Racer
Void_S replied to apachaihapachai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Brilliant model, I wanted to find which thnig I like the most and I didn't manage - all the ideas here are reasulted in the amazing result. The roof scope remided me old-good Mclaren F1, my favorite car of this brand. Not modern ones with those sick 1WD schemes (blame you, Greanpease 😆) -
And they are, I belive. This set was purlely sold in a few hours since release and now all shops have increased the prices, some even in 3 times as the set is "will be ordered for shopping from other country". Honestly, it was the very first time I saw such caption. Besides all the advantages, I still cannot get rid of idea that the model is excessively big for its set of functions. Maybe, because it replicates an American truck? 😁

Plus to that, I found a trick on how to immitate the air tank which works the best, especially when the total cspacity of cylinder and hoses is significant. Just keep the valves not in the cenral-neutral position but in raised/lowered one. Then, when push the pump, you inflste not only suppliemnt hoses (from pump to valves) but all the system, all hoses and all cylinders. Then, when the total pressure is big enought, it will able to extend/retract several cylinders even several times without using the pump.

Nice wish, but I am afraid it may cross the LEGO plans to keep 1:10 scale as simipified vehicles with engine+steering+suspension comparing to 1:8. Only it would be a roomy inside like Defender was, as the gearboxes and complicated transmissions, in general, consume a lot of space, and "flat supercars" may simply appear to be too small to fit them.

That's a great idea! I did the same for 42053 excavator (just some minor rearrangement of the tubes) and you got a possibility to use it with or without the batteries, plus manually "speed it up" when required. In general, the construction machinery with pneumatic/hydraulic equipment powered by its engine has an RPM controller, which sets the engine speed and, as a result, the pumps' speed and power. It may be a good feature to have the RPM controller here, as a HOG knob attached to the rechargeable battery.

It depends on how the drivetrain is built (i know 3 options but even more may exist): "Through" 2nd axle: Engine > Gearbox > Distribution box with central diff > 1st axle diff > Front wheels └> 2nd axle diff > 2nd axle wheels └> 3rd axle diff > 3rd axle wheels This sheme has 4 diffs (1 central, between front/rerar axles and 3 per-axle diffs) and a logic of always locked rear tandem diff. "Rear tandem diff": Engine > Gearbox > Distribution box with central diff > 1st axle diff > Front wheels └> rear tandem diff ├ > 2nd axle diff > 2nd axle wheels └> 3rd axle diff > 3rd axle wheels This sheme has 5 diffs (1 central, between front/rerar axles,1 at the rear "center" and 3 per-axle diffs) and a logic of all opened connections. "3-output distribution box": Engine > Gearbox > Distribution box with central diff(s) > 1st axle diff > Front wheels ├ > 2nd axle diff > 2nd axle wheels └> 3rd axle diff > 3rd axle wheels For this scheme, I unfortunately, have no so many details but know that it exists

Guys, does anyone found the part and mold number of the new 49.5 thin tires? I'm still hunting for them but they are not presented anywhere officially yet and will appear officially only since 1st August with T2 Camper set (10279 Creator Expert).- 5,504 replies

[TC20] 8858 - Rebel Wrecker
Void_S replied to Ivorrr's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Taking my possibility to express my opinion, I still don't like two moments here: old steering hubs and old wheels. They are old, not produced anymore, and moreover, just taken from the original set Besides that, you did a great job and I like the result! -

Well, I still would prefer some modern balloon wheels -

Possibly it was made to make it as rigid as possible, as having a manual pump right in between the axles must have a quite strong chassis which will not bend under the "pumping". Plus, each designer has its own style and while Milan's architecture with amazing detailing and heavily use of weird techniques and system parts may not be rock-solid (but still rigid enough), Markus's style is more about the heavily over-embraced liftarms. Possibly, because previously he mostly worked with a bigger scale models and now had to deal with a smaller set but still followed his relatively "bulky" solutions. -
Maybe he tried to make it closer to remarkable Hurts/Olds gearbox with its "Lightning rods"? They were quite weird and complicate in use, but the ones who manage to deal with them achieved the fastest-ever shifting.
