Just FYI, you can use the Brickcontroller app to control many different LEGO RC solutions with android and a Gamepad, including IR (if your phone has an IR blaster), BuWizz, SBrick, and the Powered Up hubs. I bought a BuWizz 2.0, and I much prefer using Brickcontroller to play with my models, as I can get that tactile feel from being able to use a controller.

Dissapointed about this myself, as they said something around April-ish about publishing the API soon. My thoughts on if/when they do, is one could even do some sort of robot by controlling it with an EV3 brick.

Control+ General Discussion

I have yet to do so, but have you tried checking Bricks and Pieces for the planetary hubs? It tends to have better price for new and/or rare pieces. -

In Canada it only just hit official channels, it's listed for $139 CAD on LEGO's website, but is currently out of stock. -
Technic 42043 Pneumatics
Mantarri replied to Vin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Glad to be able to help, Bricks & Pieces can be a good spot to get pieces sometimes, as prices on some parts can be better than Bricklink, so I'm sure to check it when buying parts, and this seemed like a good spot to share it, considering I was in the exact same situation. -

Technic 42043 Pneumatics
Mantarri replied to Vin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would try hooking the pump right up to a cylinder, and testing it under pressure. The original pump for my 42043 ended up losing it's seal, which I initially fixed with some super glue over the spot where the air was coming out, but then it stopped working against, so I bought the new, redesigned version of the pump (it's about $5 CAD). -
(WIP Thread) Manta's MOCs
Mantarri replied to Mantarri's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Generic Muscle Car ...And it's finished, now on to starting work on my TC18 entry. I'm not completely satisfied with the front grill area, or the sides of the roof. Features: V8 engine Steering via in-cabin steering wheel, or back HOG Opening doors, and storage compartment Fold-away chair to access the fire extinguisher Antenna for all your FM Radio needs! Some background on why the storage compartment is where the seat should be. I only have one of the panels I used for seating. Anyways, here are the pictures. (WIP Thread) Manta's MOCs
Mantarri replied to Mantarri's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Built up some bodywork, almost done, not completely happy with how it's turned out, but I'm going for a much different bodywork style for my actual TC18 entry, so there isn't much to learn from trying to get this type to look better. Pictures: -
Generic Contest Discussion
Mantarri replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That was apparently done quite a few years ago, but I'd personally find it very interesting. But I think M_Longer, or BrickByBrickTechnic would win by miles. -

I think Erik had some good points, and since these contests would be different, and smaller/shorter, it would be interesting to try some contests that we wouldn't normally.
