  1. This is adorable! Such a lovely and fun video! You did an amazing work As for the music, I definitely prefer the first one. It just fits so much better to the tranquility of your underwater scenes. The 2nd one is way too dramatic and would fit better to a battle at sea (or anywhere else) really.
  2. I agree that in general kids shouldn't have problems with assembling a set without lots of colour-coding. But then we have to keep in mind, what lego is competing with: console-games and action figures for a big part, and these things are not really known for being too challenging to get started with. Plug this in, press a button here and you are in the action. Nobody today has to worry anymore about the correct setup for their soundcard, or to get enough memory free. This doesn't necessarily means kids are dumber today, but convenience has simply taken over. Things have to be more easily accessible in order to be interesting for the majority. So of course TLG aims to simplify the building process and if you look at how the construction of sets is organzied now, with clear steps, numbered bags, colour coding - it indeed makes building easier and smoother than it was, lets say, in the 80s, but then again, complexity of sets and diversity of parts has increased too. One thing did feedback on the other really. I find the current system pretty neat, even when the manuals are a just too simple. On some pages there is hardly anything going on and they could really make more complex steps, if it was just for me. But it isn't Its about what the majority wants. But the colour coding is quite helpful. Pre-assembled elements however are just a no-go.
  3. Looks very good! You captured the look perfectly
  4. Very cool little model! Even if I think that does overdo it a bit by even making a star wars-theme park, your MOC rocks! Its beautiful
  5. Lovely little landscape. I like how you created that slope
  6. Sometimes cool ideas start as happy little accidents
  7. I'm sure they are malicious and want to upset everyone who is building only by instructions and uses only lego pieces! Nah, actually they just want to do some outreach and increase their customer base. Of course there will always be the odd traditionslists rejecting new impulses
  8. He has a lovely dark charisma. Very good! I also like the very reduced, but still expressive mini-vignette. Works very well together
  9. Well, thats for sure true. You can also simply buy multiples and create a very individualistic own faction for your projects. So... despite the lack of representation as an actual official theme, it could be worse really
  10. Just when they thought they were ready for their first Ghostbusting-adventure, Erin realized that something was wrong when she tried wearing her new proton-pack for the first time: She fell over! It was way too heavy! Luckily Holtzmann immediately started working on a fix. Unluckily for Erin, totally forgetting to help her getting back on her feet again… After a couple of hours of wriggling and cursing helplessly however, the work was done! No more falling over! Sadly by sacrificing the lovely printed domed tile-piece. But the increase in wearing comfort and the lack of losing balance makes it definitely worth it! And there are surely other projects where the pieces can be used for! I knew this mod was coming, since I saw the first pictures of this set. The Lego designers basically replicated the same design-flaw as in the first Ecto-1. Just with a more fancy construction (which is, as it seems, at least slightly lighter) and new black ingot-pieces. The results are nicely looking, but sadly totally oversized and unwieldy backpacks, which are simply useless for posing the Minifigures on anything other than a studded surface. Unless you want to pack them like a mule with accessories for their hands, that is. This fix, while not quite as faithful in detail, are nicely proportioned and not as overwhelming as the original ones. And – most importantly – they allow our Ghostbusters to stand freely without any aid or counterweight. And finally I found some good use for the gold-coins I had leftover from the last castle-series. Dark grey or even silver ones would have been probably more faithful to the film, but I didn’t had any at hand. So what: building with Lego means compromises^^ Also, I guess this isn't the first time someone had the very same idea. At least to me this appears as a most obvious solution. And it does the job nicely! Anyway. I hope you find it useful nevertheless
  11. Brilliant how you built that fall the furniture are spot on and scrolling over the picture from top to bottom tells the story of that scene nicel,. Very good job!
  12. Looks awesome! A very elaborated build. One could think it is an actual set! As for the sand: lets assume they just put a lot of grit everywhere, so noone slips
  13. That is a very profound remark! Of course sets with a built-in conflict or danger have it easier to excite than "boring" city life. At the same time, however, it is that city life, which defines the identity of Lego for a lot of people. Such a lovely set like Fun in the Park is a much more open set, because it gives so many opportunities to tell a story. I very much enjoy the variety of Minifigs available today. You don't really have to have two of the same anymore. Everyone can be an individual. That offers so much play value and possibilities for identification!
  14. As K_Tiger said, there are some coming up. I hope for more though There is also already this discussion about the reboot: click!
  15. Judging from the ship, the new series could be set between the TOS era and the movies. There was a series planned back in the 70s, where exactly that ship design was used for. The name of the series was "star trek: phase II", but eventually, after the success of star wars, they decided to make a movie instead. That wouldn't be the worst time-frame for a new series. Classical villains like the klingons and romu!ans have been already established, but the galaxy was still more wildwest than in the TNG era and later which leaves a lot space for original stories, exploration and new civilizations to interact with
  16. Looking at the amount of classic castle-related minifigs released each series, I can't help but assume that is TLGs way to admit, there wont be any classic fantasy/medieval series anytime soon, but tries to give us some solace by at least keeping us supplied with minifigs... A bittersweet thought.
  17. That looks promising! I remember getting that game back in 96 or so. Wakes some fond memories
  18. These two seem very interesting. Especially the book of everything. That seems to be just a perfect infotainment idea thanks for sharing these finds!
  19. I think you can translate that word as "bandit". The brooch he is wearing also identifies him as member of the wolf pack, a group of bandits in the castle line long ago.
  20. Ha! That metarmophosis you sent that little truck through is hilarious! From cute and neat - and pretty common - to a "now here it gets weird"-built. Looks like you had a lot of fun with it. It is very cool (no pun intended!)
  21. I find the Joker's face a bit weird too. Not the cool weird, rather the "ugh, no!"-weird. Harley Quinn, on the other hand: very nice. And that torso print is supercool!
  22. I bet it comes with a lot of spare-parts though
  23. I grew up with TNG and have been a Star Trek fan ever since. Usually the quality of the TV series is significantly higher than the films. The last one I found genuinely good was VI - and that is more than a bit ago now Sure, the spirit of the original series is much more hands-on, than - lets say - in TNG, but looking at the TV landscape in the 60s, TOS was a very intellectual and progressive series. No doubt about that. Same for TNG, which was also pretty outstanding for the late 80s, when it came out, but its focus was way more on peaceful, diplomatic solutions, where Kirk would just have hammered a bunch of torpedos in Not to forget the amazing worldbuilding they did over the 7 seasons the series went. They really created a rich and vast universe (unlike Star Wars, where most of the action happens on a handful of planets^^) DS9, Voy and Ent really dropped the ball for me.Though they had some very likeable characters and interactions between them. These later series lack the vision and the positive outlook which was always Gene Roddenberry's ambition TNG had (and TOS when it wasn't about kicking some alien's backside!). He was a humanist through and through and these values shone through. I liked the 2009 reboot film. It had its flaws, like plot-holes as big as the alpha-quadrant, but it was fun and worked on several levels, even if the villain was just dull and one-dimensional. "Into Darkness"... didn't work at all. The film completely failed to make me care about it. And Cumberbatchs Khan was completely underused as a character (and to be honest a bit too British for somebody from India anyway ). I hope ST Beyond will be better. I'd like to see an innovative plot and some character development. But maybe I'm expecting too much As for the new series: I hope they use the format to get away from blunt action to some more depth and wit, to make it a worthy Star Trek series. TV/stream is now the place where such things can be realized, much more so than in a movie.
  24. Very interesting find! As for the similarities to the captain redbeard minifig: I think there are very few coincidences when it comes to character design by TLG. They seem to know very well what they are doing.
  25. I just saw the sets for the new films on The Brothers Brick. Is it just me or does the Jokers car looks like something Zimos from Saints Row 3 would have used?
