  1. Thank you captain.
  2. Thank you Bodi :)
  3. @supertruper1988 Thanks for the information, I've worked around it, by lowering the floor, by adding a multitude of bricks underneath my model, and then removing them all except the lowest. Didn't use your excellent information this time, but might in the future :)
  4. wow, nice build! on the station I commented on the lack of greenery but you made up for that here! I like the tree design. and the use of different foillage trough out the place.
  5. I like your building, nice roofing technique. The story is progressing nice too :) wondering where the captain is off to after the ball. I thought you had build a wheeldriven pump to pump up well water or something :D but brushing against the steam age is even more fun.
  6. I think the station and coach design are good, but imho there could've been some more greenery around the station, or a baseplate with some weeds or ballast under the tracks. Good luck at the new appointment.
  7. This was a fun read! The new way of posting this is an improvement if you'd ask me.
  8. I'm experiencing something odd when using the software. When I want to do a low angle on a build, I get a totally black render. Is this due to the camera Point of View is below the base-raster of LDD? is there a remedy? Bart
  9. Yes clear! thanks for the answers. Don't blame the Harbour Master to much, he was just annoyed he had to work on the night of the Ball. The cutter has been licensed already, al the way at the top of this post you can find a link to her topic where she is under sail making way for King's Harbour. The build is worth a medium commerce? its just a jetty, water and a few aquatic birds, the ship's sails are furled but otherwise it's the same and the ship already licensed. Ah okay, I understand it's not the strict maths as in the trade, but I licensed the DMDR 6 in a way she could out run a cannonball, would be a shame if that be lost. I've already written the Narwal into the story with orders to follow offscreen, but could just as easy leaf her out as the story progresses. Bart
  10. Ah that picture looks nice, going to save that as a reference for when I get to the sails! and don't worry the lack of coin will not stop me from finishing this ship, my own drive for perfectionism will slow it down enough already :P *mental note, stuns'ls and stuns'l yard extension things. renting her out as an escort might be the most feasible idea! The bank of Corrington have any gold transports Captain Cooke that need protection? ;) :P I promise to not relay sailing information to any other SeaRats.
  11. @Bregirno royal masts will be added. If she is to fly royal or skysails in very light wind that will be on the topgallant masts (as the topgallant yards are only hung halfway up those masts) Mast height has indeed worked out, I copy pasted and put it horizontal next to the ship to check it. I will try the yards closer to the tops. I just came across a downside :/ 5 midsections puts her at a class 6. which will cost 560db I'll have to save up for a very long time will I be able to affort to license her :/ not to mention the upkeep which even when deducting the first free 100 is above my current income o.O
  12. that link sends me to a pinterest page with 90 images :/
  13. Index Part I, Receiving the Letter Part II, Fleeing Nova Terelli --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Participant players: Bart Vessels: DMDR 6 Starting point: King’s Harbour just hours after the Great Ball. Main and recurring characters (as of chapter 1): Rodsh Derr, former Lieutenant of the Eslandonian Imperial Navy, captain of the Narwal. Cathy Derr, wife of Rodsh Derr, First mate / acting-captain of the Narwal. Jonathan Splicer, Skipper of the DMDR 6 (Derr Merchant Dispatch Runner no. 6) Crew of the DMDR 6 Gold: What Rodsh had in his pocket when he boarded the DMDR 6, about 50 db. Troops: None. Disclaimer: All my builds will be done in LDD (for the time being). < I intended for the next bit to be in a next post, but they got automatically marched > Part I, Receiving the Letter Rodsh and Cathy where on their way back to the Narwal1 after a very much enjoyed Ball, when they came across a disturbance on the jetty. I know that vessel Rodsh thought to him self while they just came within earshot. 1 recieving the letter. by Bart, on Flickr Soldier 1: .. I really hate horsemeat sausage too!…. Sailor: They are a pinnacle of evil, who would even think of eating a noble horse. King’s Harbour harbour master assistant (HMa): WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING! You can’t run past our inspection vessel! And just dock where ever you please! Eslandonian captain (EC): Yes I can. I’m carrying mail, can’t you see I’m flying a gold pennant.² HMa: I don’t care what flag you are flying, but every ship should allow the inspection vessel along side for an inspection! EC: but.. 1 recieving the letter 2 by Bart, on Flickr HMa: And WHY are you opening your hold! You aren’t cleared by customs yet, you aren’t allowed to load or unload anything, and your crew is to remain ONBOARD! EC: Just for ventilation sir. EC: First Mate fetch the cargo papers will you! Eslandonian First Mate (FM): Right away sir. 1 recieving the letter 3 by Bart, on Flickr EC: So, mister Harbour Master how do you propose to resolve this issue? HMa: You slip those moorings and sail out in to the bay! There you anchor and await inspection tomorrow morning! EC: I can’t do that sir, the tide is rising I’ll never get out of the bay. And I have rights, I’m carrying mail. 1 recieving the letter 4 by Bart, on Flickr Rodsh couldn’t help himself, he had to join this argument. His curiosity about the vessel had got the better of him. Rodsh: Mister harbour master, the fair captain is right. If he indeed is a mail carrier he has the right to dock instantly. The custom is to fly a gold pennant from the mast top to show this. And as you can see, she is flying such a pennant. FM: Here are the papers sir. EC: Check for yourself mister Harbour master, our cargo is mail. HMa; This is outrages, I’ve never heard of this! Rodsh: What is the docking rate for small ships this evening? The harbourmaster fell silent, as his mind jumped to conclusions. HMa: 10 quarter-doubloons sir! All there knew it was just 2. EC: First mate, pay the harbour master please. As the harbour master marched his marines off the jetty to waste the cash in the pub, the captain of the ship asked Rodsh: Sir, do you know if the Great Ball has already ended? I’m looking for someone whom may be among the guests. Rodsh: Yes we just came from the Ball ourselves. EC: Do you perhaps know if a lieutenant Derr was there? Rodsh: Yes he was there, he is standing on your deck now. EC: You are Lieutenant Rodsh Derr? Rodsh: It’s former lieutenant, to be honest. I’m captaining my own ship, the Narwal, now, she is moored at the end of this jetty. 1 recieving the letter 5 by Bart, on Flickr EC: I’ve got a letter for you. Rodsh handed the letter to Cathy, and after she read it he told her: Take the Narwal for the necessary careening and replace those leaky planks in her hull. Then take her to cousin Jacob in Nova Terrelli, await any news from me there. I’m going with skipper Splicer. Cathy: Why not take the Narwal? Rodsh: Because the DMDR 6 is much much faster than the Narwal, and she desperately needs the maintenance. You take her, you’ll captain her in my stead. Skipper can we take the next tide? EC (skipper Jonathan Splicer): I believe we can sir, I still have a man ashore but he should return before sunrise. Cathy: I thought no one was aloud off your ship? Splicer: He left before that rule was spoken. (Spoken on such a tone that Cathy knew not to ask more) Rodsh: Straight to Eslandonia? Splicer: I first have to dock in Nova Terelli. I picked up some messages along my search for you that need delivered. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ note 1 The Narwal is the ship I’m building for Captain Rodsh, story wise that is the ship he’s been off to all those time. (You’ve already seen the cabin interior.) I just never build her. She is in progress though, you can see a sneak peek on flickr. So story wise I send her off careening for now, maybe she gets added to this story, or maybe not. note 2 The gold pennant is an invention of mine, I’ve no real world base for it. (Although there may be, but I didn’t look into it) I hope this answers the questions on why the DMDR 6 was racing across the sea’s the way I presented her :D Questions: How do I license or report this or do I not for an amrca? Does this work for the game masters or do they require something else to make a game from? Do the stat’s of the ships chosen when licensing come into play at an amrca btw? Is it even possible to add the Narwal later? I like to build her proper and not rush her, just to get this amrca started.
  14. Thank you, (and thanks to the writer of Bluerender (I know he is around on EB but I constanly forget his name)) Well the good thing is all natural products to fabricate the paint, so the polution shouldn't be that bad ..... Thanks Bodi
  15. @RoadmonkeytjYou want me to raise the foremast? (I was thinking they where all on the very tall side) Something along those lines with the sails I was thinking too.
  16. It's fantastic to see all those sigfigs interacting, you really did a great job showing all the figures, even in different poses! around the ball, which is at the best location a ball could be. Normally you don't see much sigfig interaction because well that's the nature of the game we made. But this is defiantly a build worth remembering. As others have said, it was really worth the wait, and the build up of anticipation got the spectacular end it deserved.
  17. Thank you. Thanks. Glad both of you like the rock work. There might be some pollution going on indeed. the downside of early industrialist factories I assume. and in SeaRat lands there is no authority to enforce any environmental rules.*That is not an inventation to come and be such an authority
  18. @Roadmonkeytj yes it is the CGH technique. on a 5 midsection prefab. (which I feel is the longest possible for the proportions to be right) I also tried the yards up a bit, closer to the tops (platforms) but you have to imagine the block and tackle to hoist the yard, all the shrouds and stays connecting to the mast at that point. forcing the yard down so it will still have space to rotate around the mast. It is supposed to resemble a British rate 5/6. But there is still plenty work to do though, bowsprit, gaff, topgallant yards, (such a shame you can't do ropework in LDD so might fiddle around in paint again to give the impression) Then there is 16 sails to build, and I set my personal bar quit high with the DMDR6, but not sure if I will build all the sails though, depends on what idea's I get for showing her. (oh and move the flag to the correct position if she is sailing ;) maybe have another look at the head rails. pff I shouldn't make such a list. The longer I look at that side view the more I get the impression the mast hight (total and the pieces) are okay. the topgallant yard going somewhere around half height of the topgallant masts. Bart
  19. I need advice. Are my masts to tall? This question works both ways, for the total mast height and the mast height for the lower masts. Topmasts and topgallant masts I think are to proportions compared to the lower masts now. Narwal 6 by Bart, on Flickr Narwal 7 by Bart, on Flickr *For those of you who don't use flickr as a cheat to see what people are about to upload, this is the Barque Narwal of Captain Derr
  20. Found this one trough the frontpage, and I have to say Edwin you did another marvellous job on creating a very detailed and true to orignall Lego model of a real ship. Tug boats are always interesting, they are relatively small with a lot going on on deck. I love the lighting you did, it really gives a good impression of how the flood lights of a ship work. Bart
  21. Thanks, glad you like the rocks :) The roof, yeah I know, I maybe could have taken out the purple ones to get a more blueish look with discoloured pieces. The skeleton leg was intended there to show what kind of shit is washed down the drain, into the creek that runs underneath the factory, (where from they pomp up the water) Hence also the brown (died) plants around the drain. A wagon it is then :)
  22. Did I read it right? Oleon already planned the execution before the trial was started? That doesn't really sound like a fair trial was held. Excellent work on all the stone work and minifig posing.
  23. That is a need cutter, I like the choice for the running rigging. And the red gives it a whole new look.
  24. I think this is more comprehensible to the people who look at the back side of the game more. (the general players looking at the 'front') In other words, I don't really understand how, but I don't need to, because I do think it will work to solve the issue that has been brought forward.
  25. Due to the increasing amount of ships being build, the demand for products from shipyards has risen, a new paint factory has started producing. The lasted batch of paint is ready for shipment, the coach (is it a coach for cargo too?) has just arrived. The red pigment is already running low! paint factory by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 2 by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 3 by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 4 by Bart, on Flickr paint factory 5 by Bart, on Flickr It started as a try out on a brick build rocky base. I'm happy with the result of the rock works and the contrast with the red brick above it. The roof was a challenge, I couldn't decide on what I liked, in the end I came up with this, which is supposed to represent slate. C&C most welcome.
