I'm following my usual building method, starting with the LDD design. This is what I have so far. Selected the propellers for the front and the back. There is a mechanism for turning the rotors from vertical to horizontal powered by a servo motor, and the driving axles for the rotors. Currently I'm trying to shape the wings, it will be harder, than I expected.

I watched the new modular at the first moment, when it was available. Since then I'm thinking on it. I was really happy with the rumor, that the modular will be a garage. And I got it. Actually the base level is fine. Garage is OK, tow truck is cool with the technic function, and I also like the minifigs. I don't like the Octan colors, but switching the red to something else could just solve my problem. Lets keep the Octan for the city line. But the upper levels are completely disappointing. The facade design is just too rough-and-ready. I think the colors does not match, there are huge gaps in the diagonal edges, where the LBG support elements are visible. The upper floors could be far much better. I bought all the modulars since PR, but I skipped DD because it does not fit to my city. In its current form the garage is simply not good enough, the upper floors should be completely rebuild from scratch, but in this case I prefer to make a moc instead. The increased price guarantees, that I gonna skip the garage too.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
kodlovag replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Any of you guys remember the episode of South Park, in which Cartman is waiting for the release of the Nintendo Wii (ending in hibernation and traveling to the future..)? I guess, we are much worse :) -
The first question was obvious, what to build. I was sure, that I don't want to make a regular aircraft, so I searched google for concept aircrafts. And I very quickly found this Aston Martin concept aircraft. A kind of luxury flying car. It seems completely impossible to accurately copy it, but a similar concept aircraft seems possible to me with working functions. I'm currently planning to build the aircraft with the cabin glass of the Slave I, and also trying to add some PF motors. And also trying to limit it's size, I don't like to build huge things. Packing everything to a limited volume is more challenging. Not very much decided yet, just the fact that I will try the AM Volante.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
kodlovag replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I really hope that the new modular will not be a police station. I don't need police station in my city, the only police I have is a guard of honor in front of my city hall. Plus the DO of course. Sound good, but too similar to the Palace Cinema. And what would be the play feature? It is a must have in the new modulars. What I would like to see is a garage on the ground floor with a mini gas station, and the second floor would be accessible through a hidden staircase, where an illegal casino is working. There could be a jazz band (because orchestra is a good idea) and a gangster/godfather who is running the whole stuff, including the garage, where the mechanic is painting the stolen cars. A towtruck could be added too. Then in the following year I wouldn't care about a police station... :) If we don't get this right now, I will built it myself next year. Next year only, because I already spent my 2018 lego budget... -

It seems to me, that the trunk can be opened. Or is this just a false hope for any kind of functions? -
I spent an hour on your Flickr page, and I have to come back later again. There are so many details to discover.

Technic 2019 Set Discussion
kodlovag replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The cherry picker might be a kind of test. Clone brands also sell recolored versions of models. For example the Porsche is available in white, while the Bugatti in red... I guess TLG is testing the idea. What I expected, and did not get is the orange 35188 Changeover Rotary Catch part from the gearbox of the Bugatti. I really wanted that in a smaller set. -
It seems that the B-model has lower center of gravity. You may try to build a replica of the B-model too...

Feel free to build one. Just do not sell it from China :) Well, do not think any really special interior. I just added because it is better than left it empty. Anyway, the cabin is not high enough for a minifig to stand inside. But here is the interior. The best solution I could find to show it is to capture it in LDD. Much easier than taking a photo. Yes, and there is a green one on the other side. I just added it to have more details. I have little idea about vessels, and don't know where it should be. Yes, I already noticed, that TLG made that Technic sail for me :) I think colors are not that bad, but I don't have the sails yet. It's on my wishlist.

Thank you for the link. I would never find it myself. It seems, that the battery box was glued, just in my case. Now I will not try to open it, because damage is guaranteed. I have to send back the product, because AliExpress accepted my complaint, and I don't want to return a physically damaged product. It is also mentioned in the teardown post, that there was a previous version of the controller, with better quality PCB and so on... I made some further testing, and the result is interesting. In case of the bad output it is still possible to drive an LED, but only on reduced brightness. A servo seems working too. But there is no way to drive an XL motor. I guess in my case one of the mosfets could be burned and half dead, and only allows reduced current and/or voltage. Overally I'm disappointed with the product. Not because of the quality problems: other buyers from this forum have no problems, I'm just unlucky. But based on the look of the controller with the big levers I expected speed regulation for the blue and the red output, but they are just simple buttons, and only allow full throttle. I'm new in Technic electronics. I tried this controller+battery box combo, because the battery box looks better, than original Lego (rechargable, 4 outputs and cheap), while the simple controller fits better for me, than the mobile phone controlled PUP or BuWizz. I'm disappointed with the reduced capabilities of the controller, but the 2nd best solution, the BuWizz, is much more expensive. Based on the existing experience, PUP will be a step back in connectivity, while the controlling upgrades will not reach the quality of the BrickController app... Still have to wait for PUP. Now I'm hesitating what to do with the refund. Buy Cada C51041 to grab the product again (hopefully a good one this time) with some extras, or invest into BuWizz and an Android game controller? (PUP seems not an option at this moment.)

I built this little sailboat a year ago, or so. It took some time to buy the tan 4x2 wedge plates on not-so-insane prices, so it was finished just recently. Good addition to the 21310 Fishing store. I have no sails to add, but it is good anyway. It also has a furnished cabin with a bed, cooker and navigation instruments.

Nice find. I asked the seller to replace my battery box without sending back the bad one. If it is not accepted, then I will ask for full refund, and buy this C51041 instead. I tried to search for the opened battery box, but failed. Could you please help me with a link?

I just received my controller, but I already have problems with it. At first moment when I tried to test it, the blue output did not work, and it had a burned smell. Other outputs works fine, but I'm not happy at all. I asked the shop to replace the battery box, but no response yet. (This is my very first AliExpress order, well, not a good experience...) Is any of you have problem with the battery box? Do I have any chance for a replacement? We have electric experts at our company, and we could try to repair, but we failed to open the battery box. It is easy to remove the 4 screws, but still not possible to open it. No gap between the dark and light gray pieces, seems glued. Does any of you managed to open the battery box? If yes, how?

[MOC] 1:12 White Supercar
kodlovag replied to kodlovag's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you for all the comments, I'm happy you like it. Wow, eagle eyes. That was a last minute change just before taking the photos. I disliked all the previous versions of the engine cover. The car looked either like an estate or a flatbed truck. Finally I added the white beams, but left the engine cover a little bit unfinished. It is part 87745 Technic Pin Connector Round Curved with Fin and Hole. 4 pieces on both sides. I'm thinking that the lower part of the door is glass, like in the McLaren Senna. I tried many different versions for the door, including ones completely covering the surface, but I favored this lightweight design. When it was selected, I tried different axle colors. Originally I used red 10L axles, but the yellow fit better to the interior. I also tried black and gray axles, but the car just needed some detail: in my opinion the pure black and white was just too boring. There was some reason for dropping the 12L white axles too. Maybe they where too long, I can't remember. -
I had several attempts to develop a 1:10 scaled supercar moc, all failed and abandoned. It was just to large and complex for me. So I decided to make a smaller one. A mini supercar, but still including all the main functionalities of the 1:10 scaled cars. Like suspension, transmission, etc. But space limitation will automatically limit the complexity, so only basic 4-speed gearbox and simpler suspensions can be included. Well, it turned out, that only a small reduction is possible to 1:12 scale, but that is still more than nothing. Then filling it with as much features as possible. And this is the result: Features: V10 Mini engine 4-speed gearbox: derived from the standard version, modified to fit into a 4 stud height space. Gear ratios are 0.6, 1, 1.8 and 3. Rear wheel drive with differential Front suspension + Live rear axle HOG steering + working steering wheel Adjustable height spoiler (geared, controls are on the back side of the car) Opening doors (geared, controls are on the back side of the car) You can find some more images in my Flickr album Inspiration: Front suspension: Red supercar by Madoca Door style: Balisong by Crowkillers

[MOC] Aston Martin Vulcan
kodlovag replied to mihao's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool car, I like it. Lot of functions, and the only thing I would change is the wheel arches to use flex axles. It seems several 1:12 scaled moc revealed recently, and I'm also working on one. -

The link does not work -
My favorite is the yellow-white part on the left, but the wave-like corner glass wall is also original. I'm just trying to imagine this building in my city, but I would have to change almost all the colors to fit. Your buildings are so colorful, and I immediately identified your style, before actually checking who was the builder. Nice work.

I like it, looks fine. The faces completely fit to the characters. However I think the building is a bit small compared to other modulars, and should be scaled up.

For me the extra prize was animals. Leopard, black panther, tiger, pink pig and a seagull.

Thank you for commenting. I had that set, when I was a child, and really liked it. Yes, the truck was inspired by the 60035, and also by the 60083 Snow Plow, but not much left from it in the final version.
